  • What a great pair of Coconuts! ; )

  • I freakin love Mitzi Gaynor!

  • WTF is going on in this scene? lol

  • I played Billis in this show at my school

  • WHAT KEY IS THIS IN? :) PLEASEE COULD ANYONE TELL ME? XX

  • @123mehbleh Eb Major

  • this song is so annoying it makes me want to kill

  • Super fine performance by Mitzi Gaynor and Ray Halston-Great fun...

  • My friend sang this for me for choir concert, just for fun. Some people thought we were lesbians! Hahahaha

  • Pull Your Pants UP!

  • Hey, is that Ray Walston (My Favorite Martian) as coconut-bra-man?

  • @poissonnoir yea it is. its also the teacher from fast times at ridgemont high. mr hand.

  • 3 people aren't honey buns :(

  • my sister's boyfriend was just in a play their school did for this, and it was soo funny :D

  • I hated the remake of this marvelous movie. I generally don't like remakes. I prefer Mitzi!

  • I just noticed a cute little piece of business from Mitzi Gaynor; when she's stalking Billis around the stage at 1:24, she takes the knot from her kerchief and holds it to her upper lip, and the two ends form a villain's moustache! A throw-away, but how clever, and how theatrical. One of those little details that add so much gloss and depth to a performance...

  • Only Mitzi Gaynor could have pulled off this naughty song. She is cute, sexy, funny and adorable all the way!!!

  • I like that! I never saw the original movie, just the one from I believe 2005 with Glenn Close (which I loved!)

  • I am learning this with my singing coach, can't wait till I do my competition with this[:

  • LIES,

this isnt the original movie version

  • lo..l

  • She's not bad or anything, but I grew up on Mary Martin's version, so naturally it just feels inferior to me.

  • what a honey bun Mitzi is . . .

  • I calculated honey buns BMI from the measurements given in the song and she's a healthy 21. In case anyone thought sexy was thinner back then. :P

  • i love her dancing! :)

  • i love mitzi gaynor performance, i used to watch this with may dad, boy do i sure i miss him

  • @foolishginger ohh crap dats one big ass honey bun :D

  • LOL HUNEY BUNEY IS 16 inches :O

  • Thanks for posting. :D

  • Haha

    Billis! get off the stage!!!

  • "My all time favorite musical. But if I say it to half these shitheads, they become animalistic! I wonder why

  • Fort Dodge Senior High just did this musical at Decker Auditorium at ICCC and it surpassed the movie in every way, Thanks to choir director, Joe Svendsen, and the wonderful acapella singers plus all their support.

  • We just did this show at my high school. Only, Billis was like 6 foot tall, and the reaction to him was more positive from the G.I. "audience."

  • this is funny

  • the only good bit in an otherwise shockingly bad musical.

  • @mentalguitarisist It was an excellent musical in the 1950s when songs were good poetry that had meaning, rhyme and rhythm set to good music that had harmony and melody

  • We did South Pacific at our local community theatre and i liked our luther billis more. sorry.

  • I think everyone likes the version they first saw the most. I'll never forget when I saw Matthew Saldivar do this.

  • Shit! Part 2 is removed!

  • I thought that there was a scene where someone threw a dart at Luther Billis too.

  • Next to Mitzi is Ray Walston; he played as the martin with Bill Bixby in "My Favorite Martian." I've always enjoyed him. :D

But where's the scene where he made his stomach roll and a guy in the audience yelled, "Hey! You've got a hole in your boat!" Because 'honey bun' had a warship tattooed on his belly. lolls

  • I know, I was looking for taht too. Maybe it wasn't in this number?

  • @scriptum60 He also was Mr. Hand in Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

  • Mitzi is the first of the saggers???? Huge steps ahead of mankind.

  • 1:09 not the sort of crowd you want to piss off, especially with guns and cannons

  • Poor Billis!

  • who is billis

  • haha yeah!

  • is is all we had! Your posted overseas, and your hungry for entertainment. Even the Movie "South Pacific" . Says? enough of/about your guys overseas?

  • luv mitzi gaynor

  • "i'm speakin of mine, sweetie pie" "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! billis get off the stage". lololol. love that part! [=

  • how did the people get paper to make the airplanes?

  • lol yeah

"Hey Harry, what the heck'd ya bring all this paper for?"

"Same reason we brought all those rotten tomatos"

  • It could be their draft paperwork...=)

  • Mitzi is fantastic! <3

  • Mr. Hand??!!

  • lol... luv her voice.

  • this movie is amazing!

  • Ahh, poor coconut-bra-man! Paper airplanes and whatnot are all he gets :(

  • We're doing this musical in my school and I have to say, it's been one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!

  • someone in my class, meghan is singing this for the talent show, they are trying to get a guy in my class, garret, to be the guy who comes out in the grass skirt and coconuts

  • ha. i did this song in a drama camp i went to. it was so fun. great song.

  • This song is one of the best in the movie, thanks for putting it on YouTube!

  • My dad was the hula dude years ago 'xD Scared my for life even though I wasnt born even born yet when he was, Im leaning this with my stage school =)

  • Mitzi is still around and still decent looking at 80 odd...

  • What's Emile's problem? Is he jealous that she's with another man, or does he think she's making a fool of herself?

  • He's generally pissed at her for dumping him because he has mixed-race children.

  • I see. That would make sense. But why did he bring flowers to the show?

  • Because he's actually gay, and was looking for Lt. Cable

  • Because she has her prejudices, and he doesn't and is still in love with her and hoping...

  • i dont understand why they hate the "girl" in the bikini so much

  • He's the group goof-ball. They're t'aking the piss out of him', so to speak.

  • I'm currently practicing this song for my voice class and it's really fun, but she sings it really well!

  • so am i its so much fun to sing

  • Every time I see this, I always think about how they're never gonna let him forget that he dressed as a hula dancer xD

  • I had to watch this for a music asingment and my BFF and I got liek obsessed with this :D

  • Ugh! I this is a fun movie, but the COLOR in the movie NEVER STAYS THE SAME FOR A MINUTE!

  • this song is so cute!!!

  • I LOVE this movie!!!!!

  • i adore her she soo cute, but this is not my fav part of the movie. i Love the movie though:)

  • This is my favourite song!

  • This is one of my fav songs from this musical, I am lucky enought to have managed to make it to see the revival, and they did an amazing job, Still gotta love the movie version as well though :)

  • Are these subtitles Japanese or Chinese?

It might be Japanese since the Japanese were referred to as the enemy by Commander William Harbison or Captain George Brackett earlier.

  • It's Chinese.

  • You should be able to tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese.

    These subtitles are purely Chinese.

  • Such a cute song. I love it!

  • Ah the magic of movies. Too bad they didn't

    Have wireless mics back then!

  • Not ever having seen the 1949 original, nor the 2008 revival, I think that Mitzi Gaynor was a great choice for the 1950's movie--which I did see--many times. I like the movie but the detest the additions of color in the musical numbers. This ruined the film-and Hawaii doesn't need any color enhancement to be beautiful. I would love to see the current show, and will if I'm lucky.

  • Lots of people don't seem to care for Mitzi Gaynor's portrayal of Nellie Forbush, but I think she gives an excellent performance. She has a great voice and presence, and what's more she looks and acts like young and inexperienced woman fresh out of nursing school, in military service; the way Rodger's & Hammerstein wanted her to be portrayed. Reba McEntire was good as well, but it takes a bigger stretch of the imagination to believe she is "immature and incurably green."

  • @Capricaquarius89 Very much agreed on all counts :) Mitzi fit this role like a glove. Such a delight and so captivating in every way.

  • @Capricaquarius89 those people who don't like Mitzi Gaynor can suck it. Mitzi Gaynor rocks!

  • @Capricaquarius89 When I think of Nellie Forbush, I think Mitzi Gaynor. Reba was good as well. But, I didn't like Glenn Close as Nellie...

  • @indyjake210 When was Reba in the show? I would love to see/hear that. I liked Glenn Close, I agree she was a little old but I still felt she played the part well. I hope she is in Sunset Blvd the movie.

  • i dont like this vidoe

  • we're doing this for our senior play, except we're football players and the guys are cheerleaders=)

  • we did this for our winter fantasy for 2007 at my school. it was a blast

  • i get to sing this for my English class =D

  • im doing south pacific at school. its gonna be so fun1

  • Reba McEntire did better.

  • I agree 100%.

  • YAY, Thank you for posting this ^_^ i truly appreciate it ^_^ thank you
