When you factor in the total lack of training in those days, knowledge about the game, riding on the bus, 4 & 5 & 6 back to back games, rules changes, lack of diet, lack of 40 years of film to study, and you just lay it down to pure ability and determination.
Sam Jones >>> Michael Jordan
How can it be? Nobody ever heard of him!! 10 rings buddy. That's TEN.
Russell called him the most clutch player in history.
The celtics did indeed beat the lakers in 7 games for the championship that year. It's been pointed out before in part 2 but this is 1966, not 1965.
Great stuff. I've rarely seen film of K C Jones actually making a few baskets, lol. He was a notoriously bad shooter but great defensive player. 5 stars!
Yes, they changed their name when they left Cincy for Kansas City. Because of the baseball Royals they decided to call themselves the Kings. Originally the Rochester Royals (before they moved to Cincy in 1957) were one of the best teams in the league. But that is ancient history - Christ Hank Williams and Johnny Ace were still alive then.
Of course, I was being sarcastic with that comment. Wayne was obviously no match for Russell. Probably why he decided to join Russ in 1967 and 1968. He was a serviceable center and a solid GM for the Cavs in the 1980s and 1990s...

Embry and Lucas were both 6'8. Russell was 6'10 and a great leaper.
