"On November 29, 2007, Betsy Zaborowski, "Dr. Z," died after a nine-month struggle with cancer. she had served as the executive director for the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute. She enjoyed the distinction of being the first executive director for this institute, a structure and a program intended to expand the influence of the National Federation of the Blind and increase opportunities for blind people" Rest in Peace.
I know the example I'm about to give is kind of silly, but I lost most of my hair from male pattern baldness when I was quite young, in my early 20's. Whenever I'd meet new people it seemed like my hair always ended up as a topic of conversation. They meant no harm but they looked at the one thing about me that was "unusual" and seemed to fixate on it. I wasn't ashamed of it or anything but it was hardly my favorite topic. I didn't want that to define me I guess.
It's not silly at all. I often use this comparison. I tell people being blind is like not being able to fly. I never could, so I don't miss it. I'm not against people using white canes, but I know 3 women who were raped while using one. I prefer a guide dog. I cannot bring myself to use a cane. Great video. Thanks
I don't think it's silly. A lot of people didn't know I was visually-impaired until I came home with my Seeing Eye dog. EVERYTHING changed. I had people trying to drag me across the street and I felt like I lived in a fishbowl. I was no different before the dog. It's ignorance. My take on it is, when someone asks me how long I've had my eye problem, I answer, "What eye problem?" Ii don't have one. People just have problems with me.

I like how everyone puts big logical comments instead of stupid comments always in other videos like a game video.
