it was offered to billy idol and bryan ferry, but they both declined. simple minds agreed and it went in the movie.. the rest is history. this does nothing for me after hearing the original. it's all context. back in the day it would have worked for a post gen xer looking for crooning material. but now.. this is one and done as far as listening goes.

@Enticelove the song was written specifically for the movie and offered to ferry first and then idol. neither were interested in recording it at the time. Simple MInds performed it. They didn't write it.
