SIMPLY Great man, no problem with lighting, neither animation ! Story is great at that's what matter, entertain, pass the message and feelings, and you did. Quite sure you will be the winner at Suzanne Awards !
This is Awesome!!! The best use of toon texturing in my opinion. The clip looks like a cartoon and doesn't at the same time, which really stands out. Maybe one day i'll be able to pull off a full animation. I'm still familiarizing myself with blender. I'm more of a maya guy though. Like the girl in the clip, " I changed my mind''-- I going with blender :D
very nice style, the first time I've seen someone use the toon shader in a short film. But you should have taken more time with the lighting, if you go to my channel and look at my modeling reel then skip ahead to the bart simpson model, then you can reference this for anything else you want to do in this style.
@MattGraeme Cheers! Actually it's just flat shaded, with a bit of normal shading done in the compositor. I'm not actually a big fan of toon shading, I find that trying to make 3D look 2D often comes off as too steril and very unnatural. You've done a great job on Bart, though!
This is a fantastic short! The humor and the animation are spot-on! I'm jealous really - I can't even get a cape working, and you've got these beautiful dynamics going on with the hair and jacket. But I think my favorite thing is watching his eyes - you can really see his mind working through the eye movement.
That is such an awesome idea for a film! Quite grim, but such a great piece of film-making. Oh, and I just noticed, isn't Suzie an adult version of the character in your last film?
@fentonfilms Hahah, you win James! Yes, that's her - I like to link the films together like that. All the cars in Mite had DNG as their numberplates, and there's a statue of the alien on the shelf in Taste Lab :p
@ChrisIceBox Referencing your own films is one of those things that keeps you going. xD
Great animation, Chris! I wish I'd finish something for once. I mean the Cyber-Insects thingy isn't very polished at all. It was also very rushed because I had to do it for school. I'm currently in a bit of a downcycle. Not sure whether I want to continue with my education. I just want to animate you know but they keep on giving us new assignments. Too many friggin' projects to work on! Anyway. Great work!!
Amazing! =)

@ChrisIceBox
thanks, i just want to point out that flat shading with no toon shadows makes this look like a flash animation.

@Datadog Thanks, that's really encouraging! I hope you're referring to Darkwing Duck when you mention a cape, I'm really looking forward to that!!

Great stuff. I really like the line-drawn aesthetic. The set-up was was quite surprising too. Some great though dark humour going on here.
