  • OMG! This drags and drags!! Come on now!

  • sorry. this is dreadful. no hate for real though.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is from a bootleg recording from one of the 5th's mid-60's shows...perhaps 1967. Marilyn's voice is SO beautiful. Early live 5D. Too cool!

  • Thanks for posting this. I like the photographs you've used in the video.

It's always a pleasure to see and hear Marilyn and the 5th Dimension.

  • She sounds uncannily like Carol Burnett doing one of her campy musical numbers with a lot of sight gags going on throughout.

  • @MikeSweeneyComedy - Actually I remember a skit Carol Burnett did and you are right, there are points that sound exactly like that! HE HE HE! No disrespect to Marilyn though.

  • I used to kill their album, all day long, peace love and happiness!!!!!!! God how much LOVE was there in the world then and look what happened!!!!!

  • Is there no song that the great Ms. McCoo does not make her own and/or put a fresh interpretive spin on??

  • Songs like this bring me back to my early childhood, in the late 60s and early 70s. A time of innocence, at least for me, with simple tunes yet with a deep message. At that time I knew nothing about life, just going to school and playing, watching good series on tv, and just being a kid. I wish I could go back in time to that era.

  • I am glad that she kept Florence Ballards song alive after all these years; Motown did Ms. Ballard so so so wrong! She sued them and won, then that nigga who she married took her proceeds all over again, while she died with nothing! What a disgrace! Ms. Ballard was truely a talented individual! R.I.P. Ms. Ballard.

  • Hi everyone!

Here's the up on the 5th...Ronald passed away in August 2001 from renal failure. Lamonte retired from the 5D in 2005/2006. He still does the photography, but not for JET. He's had exhibits in various museums. He's also an avid baseball player & often plays in baseball games in Vegas w/Jackie Jackson. Florence: the ONLY original member that still tours under the 5D name w/4 others

  • Marilyn& Billy have been married 42 years. They're still touring as a duo and will be in England in a few days. They have an album of covers out called "The Many Faces of Love"...they are elders in the church they belong to (Billy became an ordained minister a couple of years ago.) They put out a book a few years ago called Up Up and Away: How We Found Love, Faith, and a Lasting Marriage in the Entertainment Business. IT's REALLY a GREAT read.

  • timeless - classic - awesome talents!!!

  • I should hate someone that goodlookin who also has such an amazin talent but u cant help but adore her!!!!

  • Wow this sounds like Kylie Minogue's "Can't get you out of my head" somehow.

  • @bahrom69 I haven't heard her version of this tune, but if it's the same, it's Kylie who did the remake. Original was by Little Anthony and the Imperials (1950s group). It's also been recorded by the late Luther Vandross as well.

  • pLEASE MORE OF MARILYN MCCOO'S SONGS!!!! i LOVE IT!!!

  • this is one of the best groups in the last 50 years of sound. amazing talent!

  • @cjm608 --- I agree--- I wish music today was like this ... today's music is nothing compared to the way it was before... And her beauty is all natural, the way it should be.

  • whaT ever happen to the 5th Dimension are the still with us or did they go home to the lord there music brings me back to the summer of 69 great summer if their is a

hevan that's where i want to be peace be with you

  • @grandknight357 My apologies if this is redundant. All remain with us except one, Ron Townsend: passed away of a heart attack in the 90s. Florence LaRue and Lamont McLemore continue with the on-going line up. Also, McLemore was a phtoographter for JET magazine. Of course McCoo and Davis' duet and Marilyn's solo career stand out from the 80s - 90s. BTW, I have seen Marilyn and Billy personally singing in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, late 90s I believe.

  • We didn't have to dig for good music back in the day it was on the radio what ever genre you wanted.Rock Soul Pop Tons of great artist. You listen then went and bought the album.

  • I'm not mad or anything but I wish I knew why this type of groups are no longer being discovered, is the human race really in decadence?

Heaven sent these velveted voices only for our generation to appreciate?

Today's kids will never know what it is to turn on the radio and have a thousand singers to choose from, pisses me off.

  • nas used this on the street's disciple album . dope shit

  • beautiful <3

  • My mom and dad had this record. I remember listening on saturdays.

    Those were the days...

  • agreed!!

  • Music from "your decade" is the best ever b/c of YOU! In radio we have what is known as a "audio trigger". A person's musical taste is determined between the ages of 10 - 19 - so whatever u listen to during that time - yea it will be the "best music". the reason why u don't hear a lot of stuff like this on the radio because this generation is out of the Buying demo. And honestly most of the ppl listening to this have paid off homes/furniture etc..thats why u won't hear it much on radio.

  • @sheilajackson54 Not evenly remotely convincing, 20th music will be listened to in 100 years just like classical music is, because it is MUSIC, the majority of today's 'music' will not stand the test of time, not even 10 years, because it is not designed to, it's a product to be instantly consumed by the masses and then replaced by the next big thing. It is formularised and repetitive so no single 'artist' ever becomes to influential by their own merit. Real music knows no time, 2011 or 1966.

  • Comment removed

  • @floppybollox3 Sorry floppybollox but radio stations today use professional research and it proves that there is music in the 90's and 2000 that will stand the test of time. You are only knocking it because this is what you "relate" to.Like I said I hear the sounds of Neyo, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Jay Z and I promise you...that music will be around 20 years from now just like the 5th Dimension. Those were Excellent songs! Excellent! But that doesn't mean everything stops in the 60's!

  • @sheilajackson54 Firstly, only time will tell if the 'music' of today has any residual value, not research by corporate-owned radio stations who are pushing the current musical agenda. My music tastes are far and wide, visit my channel and you will see that. I can relate to music, regardless of genre, so it's not a question of prejudice. No-one said everything stopped in the 60's, again on my channel you will see that. Good music has no time context, it is either good or it isn't.

  • @floppybollox3 Relax! Nobody is bringing your musical taste to question...as a matter of fact I do agree with you..I prefer music that is far and wide..but the corporate radio stations aren't going nowhere and trust me its all about dollars and cents. They could careless about mine or your taste in music and I have issues with radio (whole nother arguement! lol!) but you are spot on..good music has no time context, it is either good or it isn't so I agree with you! Enjoyed the debate tho! 8)

  • @sheilajackson54 Fair enough sheila, it's a tragedy that today's kids aren't getting exposed to the wonderful music we had back in the day. I guess it's something I feel very passionate about, maybe I do take it too seriously tho, I enjoyed the debate too!

  • @floppybollox3 You are a class act floppybollox3! I like your style and I do

understand...I'm the same way! lol! The way we were is how people should

conduct on youtube! Thank you I enjoyed it! 8)

  • LOOK! ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE! I am a 46 year old Radio DJ and while this music is excellent there is EXCELLENT music today. It's amazing to me b/c the generation b4 the 60's said that music was crap..then the generation of the 70's said that the 50's was crap - now u have ppl of the 90's saying that music was the "it music". Jill Scott, Neo, Maxwell aren't degrading women..and their music is EXCELLENT. This music was great for its time. But this is 2011 not 1966...

  • @sheilajackson54 Exactly...and even Marilyn, Billy and Florence have all said that there is good music out today...we as listeners must have the meticulous ear to filter out the bad for the good.

  • @sheilajackson54 -sorry but the music from the 1950's to the 1980's is way better than the music over the last 20 years. There really is no comparison and we can probably thank MTV for singlehandedly hijacking and destroying music.

  • @jakers23100 MTV!??!? Who listens to music via MTV? They barely play music anymore. Ever heard of a company called ClearChannel?

  • @matthewgatto It's the irrefutable damage that MTV has done. Today there are still some good musicians starting to come up but songwriting is not there.

  • classic, beautiful voice

  • Beautiful ladies with beautiful voices. Some real talent here boys-n-girls. Why has music gotten so cynical and depressing. I miss these days, when this kind of music ruled the airwaves.......anyone with me on this. How about it?

  • What is it about this song ??

Marilyn is, was, & always will be my number 1 soul sister !!

  • isn't She beautiful, Marilyn was always and will be my imaginary sweetheart

  • Oh, yeah. I been accused of me going out of MY head!

  • I agree with who ever said Marilyn McCoo is just plain and simple a class act - everyone in this group is in no doubt talented but sheesh Marilyn is just a cut above. She is beautiful and sings her ass off.

  • To humongus, Your a fool. But to know that my grandson only has you to compete with is assuring.

  • To son of humongus; If you saw a real woman like her you would loose your load before you even got it in her you pansy! You punks today have no idea what a man is! Go back to Snoop Doggy Shits site and continue to weaken your self so that my grandson will step all over you like the slug you are:(

  • Nice song. And I would like to fuck the chick who sings it.

  • Does anyone remember a TV cop programme where The 5th Dimension appeared as a vocal group in the story? It may have been Columbo, but I'm not sure.

  • @Crankcase01 I was It Takes a Thief, I think.

  • This song always tears me up, whoever sings it - but particularly the Little Anthony & The Imperials original. Have you seen the live clip elsewhere on Youtube? Wow!

  • fd4519. Magnífica composição,transmitindo vida, amor e muito feeling.Lindo conjun to,muita harmonia sustentação vocal.Lembro desta música gravada por Sergio Mendes e Brasil 66,tendo na bateria o saudoso e mágico das baquetas Dom Um Romão,naquela época com o vocal de Lani Hall.Sonhemos.

  • I LOVE them!!!!

  • Great song and performers, ahead of their time and yet always contemporary!

  • looks like ive found my crowd

  • cant believe i see no mention of the brasil 66 version amongst the others in the comments here. that aside, this is quite bombastic. hard to say whether i like brasil 66 or the 5th more.............

  • C'mon you old duffers. This is great music, undoubtedly, but IMO, Snoop Dogg's hiphop carries a nice element of rhythm, harmony and an old school swing that lovers of the fifth dimension would not find out of place. And besides that, he's almost as old as us!

  • I agree w/ a couple others... this isn't the best arrangement of this song. (maybe Anthony and the Imperials?... gonna check it out).

And I agree w/. comments about Marilyn M.. a beauty such as hers is... far from common..

  • Little Anthony & The Imperials' version.

Yeah, that's the one I was looking for!

I recall it growing up. Hard to imagine a better one.

  • LOL its funny how iam really attracted to mrs M coo

  • What's funny about that. She's only one of the most beautiful women God ever placed on this earth, with a voice to match. This has never been anything quite like her in pop history.

  • prehaps i mean when i never met her in my life i look at her ithink woooooooooooow and the voice

  • A TRUE 60's classic!!!

  • Todays music is all abou the selfish street thug who had it so bad that everyone needs to listen to him sing his vulgar lyrics of murder and shooting....pfff. Get a life and learn from the old school. Music is supposed to be uplifting and will make you forget about how bad life can be. Pura Vida.

  • @dmgcat Well said friend! Bravo!! God Bless!

  • @dmgcat you got that right partner............example, you hear bad language on RAP MUSIC, not all Rap but many Rap tunes which to me is a bunch of crazy people that need and look for attention

  • @dmgcat Right on are you sick of alll the rap crap gangster music and copycat groups?

  • @dmgcat PREACH!

  • @dmgcat music isn't "supposed to be" anything. music doesn't have to serve a purpose.

  • @dmgcat Right on dmgcat!!

    Sing the song!!!

  • @dmgcat Today's "music?" If you find any music today, that is current, write back to me. As for now I'll just keep living in the past -- listening to great songs like this that weren't even hits!

  • @dmgcat your wrong most of its about pounding that pussy!!!

  • do they bring back good memories for me. they sing beautifully and with power.every video you watch of the 5th dimension , like they say when you have good inside of you , it just shines on through. Marilyn McCoo is goreous. but people don't give florence LaRue her dues. what a sweetie pie. drohegda

  • Astonishingly beautiful

  • She is an absolute class act. I feel sorry for you young guys growing up with the likes of Sniff Doggy Doo and such. Marilyn has a voice that is absolutely unmatched today, perhaps ever. Look at the pictures. She is as beautiful as she can sing

  • I'm young and still developing an appreciation for the soul acts like T5D that came before. But why the selective diss of Snoop Dogg? He and McCoo faced dramatically different realities in life and music, but both have excelled in their respective genres. And given Calvin Broadus' love for groups like The Dramatics, it's not a stretch that he's down with 5th Dimension's work. Because his hustle is different doesn't mean he's put out uncreative trash--not with almost 20 years of relevancy.

  • ,,is she 3/4 white ?

  • @Msp1lt youa re right. My generation does not know what it is to know classy music like this. They all think this kind of music is beneath them and is a joke. Well the joke's on them

  • @Msp1lt I feel sorry for you old guys who grew up listening to this horribly boring music.

  • @Tydaw9 Ohhh young man, you have no idea how all of My Generation feels so badly 4 all of you. This is music, pure, simple , & As Marvin said, " Soulful if you must". It's music your generation has never known. What a pity. Wolfsky9

  • @Wolfsky9 That statement was almost as ignorant as the one I just made. Our generation is full of beautiful music, you just have to dig a little deeper than whats on the radio.

Don't feel bad for us, feel bad for yourself because it seems like you dwell on your nostalgic records instead of discovering the new amazing sounds of our generation

  • @Msp1lt

23 Dec 2010: Hey, you are 100% right buddy. Music from my decade, the 70's was the best ever with singers and groups like this group, Chi Lites, Donna Summer, Al Green, Barry White, Elton, Stylistics, Bee Gees, Eagles, Hall & Oates, Diana Ross, Marvin, Stevie W, Jacksons, Carpenters and many more were great clean music. No cursing or degrading women.

  • These comments crack me up. Just wondering the age of the men who are in love with Marilyn. High school crush or what?

  • Personally I fell in love with her when I was 10. She was on Solid Gold as a host.

  • Imagine the guy who just passed her and "didn't even know I exist."

He couldn't couldn't have been straight, because Marilyn is what straight guys dream about.

  • marilyn wow iam going out of my head over youuuuuuuu

  • This song is better than the original. Where did you get this song?

  • not better than original .

  • correct !wtf ... aaaannnnd iiiiiiiiiii thiiiinnnnkkk iiiiiiiimmmm.. what was the arranger/producer thinking with such a lame arrangment of that part

  • Good call glaufenberg. Giggity.

    Excellent version of the song.

  • I never realized how hot Marilyn McCoo is. Hey now!

  • beautiful

  • Class forever, Mariyn McCoo, (Beautiful Forever), Billy Davis, Jr., Florence LaRue, LaMonte McLemore and the late great Ron Townson. Ladies and gentelmen, The Filfth Dimension.

    Sy-

  • She is sooo beautiful. That Billy Davis jr is one lucky man!

  • I'm for Luther's version as a remake. Little Anthony original is a classic; hard to top.

  • Yeah...I agree. I BELIEVE Lil Anthony & Even Luther could feel that way.

No way Marilyn would be going out of her head.

Like Big Daddy, she'd be making OTHERS going out of their head!

    haha

    Big Daddy

  • I've never heard this version before - unusual song for the 5th Dimension - interesting. Thanks for posting.

  • Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 have (in my opinion) the best version of this song.

  • I like Luther Vandros's version!! But Sergoi's is good too

  • C'mon. Little Anthony and the Imperials are matchless.

  • Not my favorite version of this classic, but nevertheless a good recording by one of the great groups of the 60's. Check out Little Anthony & the Imperials version.

  • You're right... but just imagine: Little Anthony's voice in Marylin's body... we would be in heaven!
