  • not sure which is boring this show or ricky gervais

  • How boring is this shit?

  • HES BACK

  • americans take comedy way to seriously, ppl in the uk dont care about insults so long as their funny, ricky is just a bit too used to a British audience, many comedians say this

  • "I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    - George Carlin

  • Ha terp

  • "You said I crossed the line, but I never drew a fuckin line, You did."

    -Ricky Gervais

  • well if you can't laugh at yourself....

  • Real Comedy always embarrasses - it has always been that way for decades - you would think that in the 2000's we would have got use to that by now - but no - we always have to take ourselves so seriously. Precious actors can never laugh at themselves - no wonder they drink and take drugs all the time because they spend so much time thinking about themselves.

  • The Young Turks fascinate me. They pick great topics to cover, but the hosts always appear to be almost completely clueless.

  • american comedy is like the 1920s again.

  • fact is americans are allergic to the truth... :/

  • Ricky has never crossed the line, EVER. These "A" listers are too used to having their arses licked.

  • Congrats to Ricky Gervais. We need people like him to point out how ridiculous Hollyweird is. Can't let them think he is untouchable.

  • Oversensitive douches in hollywood need to calm the fuck down and take a joke

  • i dont think that the guy host is young at all...

  • Ricky Gervais' philosophy on comedy, "If you can't take a joke, TOUGH SHIT!." Gotta love him for going by that philosophy.

  • i love how much ricky ruffled the feathers of hollywood a listers

  • Well, it turns out Ricky totally had Sheen scouted wrong, huh?.............

  • @davefgranger At least "cunts" are useful..are you?!!

  • will love Ricky comedy forever

  • Towneccentric - on the contrary, Ricky Gervais does not give a DAMN what dumb moronic USAmericans (85% of whom never advance beyond a teenage minus-frontal-lobe mentality) think of him; that's why he has the guts to tell the truth and say THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!

And the other 95% of the world's population is saying this too - THE EMPIRE is OVER. Your debt is unsustainable, China owns you, you are fat, lazy, dumb and cowardly.

  • Let Ricky host the Oscars!! That would be awesome.

  • Ricky Gervais just happened to throw in a scientology joke. He didn't care about other religions, either. He is an Atheist himself.

Ricky is one of the funniest people alive.

  • I think he's crossed the line more than once. On the other hand, Hollywood needs someone like that every so often to burst their balloons.

  • @xander7ful In 2010 he was criticized for being too easy on the celebrities...Critics said he should have gone for the jugular. This year he DID go for the Jugular and then they rip him a new one for it...he can't win. (Had he been Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, or Jerry Seinfeld they would have LOVED it!) There's a definite bias against brittish comics in the U.S. We embody the phrase, "The ugly American."

  • @Furkin44 I know you wrote this 3 weeks ago but I had to let you know that I, along with many of my friends love brit humor. I was a fan of Gervais before he became known in the US. Of course it helps that we are liberal agnostics who appreciate smart (on the edge) humor.

  • @4whatwhycool Amen to that!

  • @xander7ful He was actually planing to dress up as Hitler and go: "Is it too much? This is the last time I borrow an outfit from Mel Gibson!" EPIC

Of course they weren't ecstatic about that, so they told him: "No Hitler jokes, please" LOL

  • @PollockQT that would have been hilarious wouldn't it? xDD

  • if you think rickys joke are mean take a look at a franky boyle stand up show. hell put you in a coma

  • When people started watching it they had no idea what they were about to see, so the ratings dont really count. Those people were either going to watch it or they weren't.

  • Gervais is great, but there's that whole mentality people have that famous people should be given special treatment because they are somehow above them and should never be offended...or else! What bs. They finally got a good comedian to make almost proper jokes instead of really lames rated G ones like on other shows and they complain about it??

  • Scientology: Aliens, magical force that flows thrugh all of us, levitating things with your mind. Sounds an awfu lot like Star Wars.

  • @ZeroHex5412 Pretty damn nuts in real life, ain't it?! And its founder/creator, L Ron Hubbard, was originally a science-fiction author as well..imagine George Lucas had started his own religion after the release of "Star Wars", rather than continue the saga of films, and how we would have taken the piss out of him for it! He may even have ended up in a room padded with rubber for the remainder of his life..I could add so much more to this post but why bother? Scientology is a freaking SCAM..

  • @ZeroHex5412 And Tom Cruise is just as annoying as Jar Jar Binks.

  • @OktoberSunset DON'T SAY ANYTHING AGANST JAR JAR BINKS XD

  • He was ok. Some were funny.

  • asexual

  • why shouldnt you say that 3:57 comment. see motherfuckers think they can say whatever they want blah blah but when it comes to them who delivered joke they cant handle. you want to know what that makes you a BITCH.

  • I'm having TONS of fun wink wink......

  • @EyeConicRed Lol

  • He was the best. Those actors want everyone's lips on their ass's

  • Ricky rocks!

  • DAMN she's looking fine.

  • its the same the yanks do not get our sense of humour. but ho hum.

  • They are multi-million dollar, over-privileged celebrities: poor them :( *sarcasm*

  • I thought we was the best thing about the show and only reason I bothered to keep watching it. Those folks getting upset and way too uptight and out of touch with reality anymore I think. Living in lala land treated like they can do whatever they want....

    Nice job RIcky was funny.

  • Paying to get pissed off? Seems pointless....and tasteless

  • nice tits

  • I am a recovering alcoholic and I was LMAO! People... he is a comedian!!!! I even make jokes about my own problems with addiction. Lighten up. in any case these jokes were for me, I would feel proud I am sober and it will make me feel stronger not to "go Out"

  • He took a jab at Scientology. Half the room were probably Scientologists.

  • Ricky was hired to entertain---which is what Hollywood is supposed to do. The only one who were offended were the butts of the jokes. Well:

**Robert Downy: Don't get arrested multiple time for coke binges in public

**Scientoligists: When believe silly shit you will be made fun of.

**Sheen: Drunken--coked out hooker scenes when you are 45 gives rise to jokes

**Mel gibson: Drunk Jew hating and DUI's=roast

    hat s!!off to Ricky

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa 100% spot-on on all counts..& well said..cheers..mjf.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa Oh and to the Sex and the City actresses: stop acting in movies you're too old for.

  • @adi87tya no but i saw one of you in an episode of bonanza

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa Johnny Depp wasent even offended even though the opening joke was directed at one of his movies funny.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa 1. Robert Downey Jr. wasn't offendet

    2. he made fun of one famous scientologist not scinetologists in general

3 and 4. you are right

and Ricky Gervais is a fucking genius

  • the golden globes is about film, directing etc. so they are familiar with ricky gervais work.

ricky jervais also did the 2010 golden globes.

they are actually happy it was controversial. higer ratings. more money

  • @mrdk216 Yep! Globes ratings up on previous years & the Oscars were well down on theirs..RG is brilliant & is the perfect medicine for so many of those narcissistic, egotistical, thin-skinned twats in Hollywood..& they're (the actors, not the other human components of the industry, eg. directors, writers, etc) simply reading someone else's work & are allowed as many attempts as is required until they get it right..RG performs HIS OWN material & has the ONE shot at getting it right on the night!

  • how often does cenk correct anna on her own stories?

  • Some people have a biting wit (AKA rapier wit) to their humor, and it is not for everyone. Sarcastic humor is borderline "passive-aggressive".

I prefer humor that is self-depreciating or just plain silly. I like Monty Python type humor too. If Rapier humor is delivered well it is really funny. It takes skill to do that though :)

    :P

  • Charlie Sheen= Wino... Downey Jr. = Creep... Phillip Burke= Old Timer... Scientology=Homos...

What's the big deal? He makes comedy with the truth, British Comedians ALWAYS tell it straight... Truth hurts, doesn't it? Mah, it's just a bit of fun,get over your egos!!!

  • he'll be back next year.

  • Why are the Turk and Armenian hosts always using hebrew slang?

what the fuck is wrong with you people??

  • @WinkyMaeve umm if you're refering to unkosher, no religious jew would ever use that. it's more NY or LA slang and it's meant to make fun of jews if anything. so, you're wrong mister. you're prolly from a square state thou so it's ok.

  • @stan137q I was born in Northern Iran and go to school in Tel Aviv.

    משטרת ישראל‬

  • @WinkyMaeve than it's understandable that you wouldn't get "not kosher" slang. it's used quite often in nyc where I've been living for 6 years.

    המשטרה הטורקית

  • This makes me proud to have a thick British background. Only a brit could piss this many people off... Or an Irish, but half of Ireland is part of the UK lol

  • They didn't mention the joke about saying Bruce Willis is Ashton Kutcher's father!!!! That was the craziest one of the night! Or saying thank you got for making me an atheist!!! WTH!!

  • @kittycatbrat84 Glad that you also noticed those 2 omissions..the Willis/Kutcher gag was not only hilarious but you could also see that BW took it really well too, as should all of the other "victims" on the night..I defy ANYBODY to inform me of even ONE untruth that came from RG's mouth that night..the truth especially hurts so many of these prima donna egomaniacs..& I'm also glad that someone else appreciated his God/atheist gag at the end..shame everyone was already up & departing by then!

  • I love Ricky.

  • LOL did they not get the joke about scientologists? It wasn't a joke about members of scientology. It was a shot at Tom Cruise. As far as the show Hollywood came off like some ego driven, elitist, sensitive babies to me. I can imagine how many publicists were furious.

  • Ricky....my man :)

  • If you tell the truth, people come.

Excuse me, what is the number 1 "news" channel in US of A again?

  • @garytcw The Daily Show?

  • People get mad because his actually fucking funny.

    Fuck off over inflated yanks.

  • @david13gaspar Funny and true, too.

The reason censorship is on demand is because folks fear listeners will agree. Not necessarily approve, but agree. In other words, what Gervais said wasn't "enjoyed" despite there being inarguable facts.

I love it! He dares. He's basically telling us what had happened.

  • That was a Gervais masterclass in the art of trolling.

In fact they should they should just fuck the awards off altogether and put him in a room full of celebrities.

  • @niemanickurwa Fucking brilliant idea, that!! They can all slap one another's backs, fellate one another or whatever else they fancy in their own time and preferably behind closed doors..and instead devote the entire televised show to RG devouring the most annoying, egotistical, arrogant, narcissistic, thin-skinned "A-listers" present, one by fucking one..I'm 100% adamant that I'm not the Lone Ranger when I say that I would far prefer that format to the existing one!!

  • 0:36 - thanks for that, retards. That really fucking hurt.

  • Why doesn't anyone have empathy. I'm not in love with celebrities but I got to admit they are still people with feelings. Everyone including some of the celebrities who were present at the Globes are quick to stick up for Gervais but they are ignoring the fact that if Gervais was to make insulting jokes about them they might sing a different tune. Maybe my sense of humor is too weird but I believe that it is possible to be a great comedian without have to insult or hurt other people.

  • @MrJenga5 yeah but if celebrities feel insulted they go home to there mansions and cry into a big bunch of money

  • @MrJenga5 of course its possible to be a great comedian without insulting others but that is Gervais's style. its what hes famous for. Those who are offended need to chill out and realise that he is just joking. Those who think its crossing the line or its bad taste are just misunderstanding the joke and taking it the wrong way. Ricky is hilarious BECAUSE he is rude but his rudeness and bluntness is JUST A PART OF HIS ACT, thats what people need to realise.

  • @MrJenga5 But what did RG say that was downright nasty or non-factual during the night? And IMO, only someone (of those whom RG took aim at) severely lacking a sense of humour or a thick skin & with way too big an ego could seriously take offence at what he said about them..Mr Downey Jr has made plenty of jokes about his own past, Hugh Heffner is SIXTY years older than his new bride-to-be, Tim Allen is pretty average when compared to Tom Hanks' resume, "The Tourist" was CRAP..should I go on?!

  • @MrJenga5 they have chosen to become famous there wasn't some guy standing on the street grabing you and forcing you to act and become famous and win or more often almost win or normally just be there while other are winning/almost winning awards while being offended because a brit made a joke about someone they maybe even don't know and ricky gervais is not hurting any people. being offended by ricky gervaises jokes is equally to mental illness

  • As much as I don't give a shit about Charlie Sheen and RDJ, I have to say that making fun of drug/alcohol etc addiction is not ok. Who cares if they are celebrities? In the end, they are real people and addiction destroys lives, families, relationships. The "comedian" has only shown his ignorance of the realities of addiction and his ignorance of compassion for other human beings.

  • @TheQwerty59 "As much as I don't give a shit about Charlie Sheen and RDJ, I have to say that making fun of drug/alcohol etc addiction is not ok." I'm in recovery and I think it's hilarious. Depends on how you take it, I guess.

  • tstruss912 I'm in recovery from my own addictions and I've come across others such as urself who are ok with joking about it, but it just hits too deep for me. When I see a person like Gervais and then see that ppl are RELIEVED b/c the addicted person NEEDED to be taken down a notch (really, when they're already down) and that they DESERVED to feel even worse about themselves, I don't understand. It perpetuates the idea that we need to be paralyzingly ashamed of our struggles...Much luck 4 u. :)

  • Dickwads

  • I loved when He made fun of The tourist...Its true no one saw the tourist..lol Hes hilarious

  • I loved it..they deserved it!

  • What did he say? "Tell me how my ass tastes!" Awesome!

  • I know one thing, Ricky is not going to be hosting the Golden Globes again next year.

  • If Hollywood can't stand getting their asses NOT kissed for 3 hours......get the fuck out.

  • i do agree that people need to pull the stick out of their asses. He's a comedian and none of his jokes were particularly offensive. That said, his head isn't any smaller than the actors. I highly doubt that the Golden Globes, those awards that have been around for 57 years, are going to have too many problems finding a host for next year and almost immediately forgetting about him. Gervais thinks he's as big a deal in America as he is in England, and he really isn't.

  • c mon Cenk.stop bring a fuckwit.he's a comedian.wait till Frankie Boyle hits the USA,you'll be complaining then ah ha.

  • Ricky Gervais is one of the most intelligent personnality of our time. His funny side comes from his french-canadian father. Ricky Gervais is also an awesome writer.

  • how about thank god for making me atheist part lol

  • If you don't want your religion to be the punchline of jokes, then don't be religious. It's just too easy.

  • @DRok112 Religion should be like underwear. It should be private.

  • That's right - a good comedian should not be affraid to step over the line and to offend somebody. Good job Ricky.

  • These types of self-congratulating ceremonies are sickening. It's great to see someone like Ricky Gervais lay down the truth and put these people in their place. The only person who was genuinley laughing at the jokes was Robert De Niro.

On a side note, Frankie Boyle should host this next year. It'd be awesome.

  • @Saaduk92

if they thin gervais is too much the poor yanks arent 1% ready for frankie boyle. fuck! id love to see him host it

  • @spaceghost1313 the "yanks" are not the ones offended by his jokes.. its the Hollywood plastic people, get it right

  • @amerboy22 Very valid point...recently watched "Out of England 2" live in Chicago and they went NUTS over him & I've read about much the same in other US cities he performed in..I'm an Aussie but I've relatives in the US, both in NYC and LA (one cousin has his own sound recording studio and works only with the film studios - does very well for himself but he HATES that elitist shit & has told me so many fucked-up stories about "them")..unfair to judge all Yanks by those elitist gits on TV/film

  • Hollywood is about one thing and one thing only: money. No one has any balls to speak the truth there. The whole awards ceremony is so phony and egomaniacal that it would be unbearable without someone like Gervais hosting.

  • @hitherandyon "Hollywood is about one thing and one thing only: money."

That's why good books become bad movies. Do it on the cheap and make it a celebrity movie. A good example would be "The Shining".

  • "Hollywood is owned by Jews... " is what i would say if i was a comedian.

  • golden who?

  • So Cenk thinks it's funny to make fun of Downey because it's true? Ok the Cenk better not get mad when people make fun of his kid in school because of that stupid name 'Prometheus Maximus' it's the truth it's a stupid name so the kid deserve to be made fun of.

  • Hollywood has never been able to handle its mirror image, much like Mel Gibson himself.

  • Robert Downey went on to poke fun at himself and his philandering via women he has worked with. I think he got that it was a joke and funny, whether he liked it or not.

  • Cenk, I'm sure you of all people, if you knew the HFPA head and the bribery and corporate bs at hand for these awards, you'd be all for the shots at him.

  • If celebrities can't take a joke then they shouldn't be in this business. It should be expected and the jokes weren't even offensive!

  • I thought Gervais was great. The Golden Globes is such a bullshit thing anyway he showed it the respect it deserves.

  • frankie boyle is going to be hosting the next golden globes i heard

  • @stokie1999999 i wish!

  • I betcha he'll never be invited to do a presidential roast at the White House. Remember how Colbert wussed out? Imagine Gervais - just imagine.

  • Why isn't Gervais coming back again? That's the only reason why I watched the Golden Globes highlight reel somebody posted on Youtube.

  • but scientology was made to be made fun of.

  • @yellowdart6666 every belief is than.

  • @yellowdart6666 So was Christianity. Just sayin'.

  • @yellowdart6666 hahahaha

  • Cenk missed the fact that the HFPA are being sued and is the middle of a controversy.

  • I love Gervais, he's as honest as it gets, brutal honesty, but its honesty nonetheless, and that's what makes it such golden comedy.

  • i'd like to get my hands on Anna's Golden Globes

  • What is fun about being rude to others? Getting ratings may be of importance, but does it not matter how you do it? Im sure he would have gotten a lot of viewers if he pissed on the stage also but does that make him talented?

  • @lota68

Boo hoo. If the celebrities are so up set you can let them cry on your shoulder.

  • Oh and offended? Since when did Hollywood become concerned about morality? Fuck those hypocrits.

  • "The next presentor is a true hollywood icon. In ten of the biggest blockbusters of all time, he has shown his extraordinary acting versatility. He has played a boxer and Rambo... Welcome Sylvester Stalone". AHAHA! Ricky Gervais! xD That dude is awesome.

  • They don't want a sharp comedian like Ricky Gervais to bring in ratings, they just want a nice, private place where they can fellate each other's egos.

  • If youre a comic and you arent offending people youre not doing a good job.

  • @crazyrandomfool Id like to sincerely thank you for your proper usage of 'youre'

  • @wiccanknight Yes I agree! Where's the apostrophe though? :0)

  • @crazyrandomfool then a comedian should no how to take to right.

  • If youre a comic and you arent offending people youre not doing a good job.

  • Some people even seem to have been offended by his closing line, "Thank God I'm an atheist". Seriously? People really need to relax.

  • @Relyt22 millions of people are offended because of a joke for a mistake in their own religion

  • You didn't even make mention of the Bruce Willis joke, the Angelina-Johnny Depp joke. You instead picked the light jokes. Poor research.

  • I ddin't think his jokes were good but they weren't offensive either

  • You didn't even make mention of the Bruce Willis joke, the Angelina-Johnny Depp joke. You instead picked the light jokes. Poor research.

  • You guys have got to be kidding me! you didn't even make mention of the Bruce Willis joke, the Angelina-Johnny Depp joke. You instead picked the light jokes. Poor research.

  • I think the guy was brilliant. Maybe americans can't handle british humour. : P

  • GERVAIS WAS FUNNY AS HELL AND THE ONLY REASON HALF OF US EVEN WATCHED THE GLOBES LIVE! THOSE IN HOLLYWOOD WHO WERE OFFENDED NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GO COUNT THEIR MONEY! LOL, and btw his shot at downey jr. was my fav

  • the only way they can match ricky is if they hire russel brand...

i was lauhin my ass off the last time he hosted the mtv awards :D

  • Some of the jokes were funny, but the Charlie Sheen jab was far too easy (and old).

The Robert Downy Jr. "joke" was too Jr. High, like "ha, ha, you've been in rehab."

  • @eatmorenachos are you dumb, his downey joke was hilarious because it was structured as a casual introduction, probably one of his best of the night

  • @GUCCImontana420 ,

"you are dumb?" that's you're response? What next, you going to stick out your tongue at me? Maybe after you get out of high school you can learn to talk like a grownup.

  • @eatmorenachos My inquiry about your IQ level was merely one half of my comment. "Maybe" after you finish reading the second half of it you can be a douche bag. Oh, and because I know you are "dumb", I need to point out that the previous sentence was my attempt to mock you. Please refrain from questioning my high school diploma when you can't even see your error in beginning sentences with "Maybe". Go jump in front of a Special-Ed bus while I wave my B.A. at you.

  • @GUCCImontana420 ,

There's nothing wrong with starting a sentence with the word "maybe," but there is something wrong with someone who resorts to using words like "dumb" and "cunt" simply because they're incapable of arguing like an adult.

You may indeed have a college degree, but you've got the maturity of a toddler.

  • @eatmorenachos I guess I need to become a "grownup" like you! AHAHAHAHAHAH DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO TIE YOUR SHOE LACES YET LITTLE BOY? VELCRO IS THE WAY TO GO!

  • @eatmorenachos OH AND BY THE WAY, GROWN UP IS TWO WORDS YOU STUPID CUNT!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • i think you can be funny without slamming other people. it takes more talent but it can be done. i don't think being a comedian should give you the free pass to insult everyone and tell those insulted people that they have the problem because they won't shrug it off. Ricky Gervais is mean spirited in all of his comedy so this wasn't a real surprise.

  • Damn Ricky Gervais is awesome.

  • I love Ricky, but sadly I love Hugh Laurie just slightly more, and couldn't help but feel a slight tug when Ricky turned his attention to him. I have the usual obligations to celebrity worshiping, cultures tied to it etc... But I still love Hugh Laurie. One of the few celebrities able to make me side with a product if they're in the advert, whether I like it or not. Still, glad Ricky took some people down a notch, even if Hugh was one of them. Some big egos flying around there :P

  • Lighten up Hollywood!

  • if not for Ricky Gervais I wouldent have noticed the golden globes this year

  • Downy has gotten too big, I love the guy but he's now a typical hollywood boob. LOL Being many in hollywood are scientologists that was funny. He's from the UK right? So he could give a shit what anyone thinks. I do think it's sad that so many Americans were watching this though, I never understood the attraction to celebrity awards shows.

  • Hollywood not telling the truth????

Wow, this is news to me!!!!! DUhhhhhh....Hollywood telling the truth is like John Wayne coming back to life as a flesh eating zombie.

  • In a culture of celebrity worship, not only did the celebs need deflating, certain fans needed to see their beloved idols being taken down a notch.

  • @DazzOne2012 I wish he said something about Twilight...

Some of them crazy b***hes need a kick in the ass!!

  • @Lazytownbaby jokes about gay scientologists are easier than jokes about fucking* vampires

(*i mean the the act to show some love or the alcohol in blood, not just the rant)
