  • I was born on Equinox and of all songs named to represent that date, this one is my favorite. Thank you for upload.

  • how come you are all english ?!!! jarre comes from Lyon !!!

  • @miramar9999

The English are quite happy to recognise genius when thay hear it

  • wow, it sounds so warm :)

  • @sole0soleo yes, yes it does

  • Have the original album... cd sucks... all kinds of samples i really don't like...

  • As far as I know, you find this version on the compilation LP "Musik aus Zeit und Raum", too. The vinyl version includes many single versions and the "original" "Equinoxe 5" which sounds like this video version to me. The CD offers the album versions only. "Musik aus Zeit und Raum" on LP is easy to come by.

  • Thanks for posting! Yes, this is it...juicy and full of life.

  • nogmaals geweldig

  • You don't have to re-mix Equinoxe part 5.THIS is the right version. If you ask me,you can't make it better like this!

  • @nepuit Agreed. And no amount of fiddling with it by Jarre will ever recreate the raw feel of this version.

  • This version was only ever released in the UK as a thankyou from JMJ for the UK being instrumental in the global success of Oxygene. The French original Equinoxe album is the same mix as the CDs. Hopefully someday he will release the UK version of the album on CD.

  • this version appears in "The Concerts In China" VHS 1981. Very nice surprise, mate.

    CHEERS!

  • Thanks for this. This version saw me through my childhood. I remember buying a CD player in about 1988 and replacing my albums with CDs. Played Equinoxe on CD and thought - "what's he done to it?". This version ins the original and best. I'm currently looking longingly at my old LPs with no means to play them! My kids think they are hilarious, especially 12" singles ("why do you need a big CD like that just for one song!?") They just don't understand.

  • I have this version from the vinyl lp.

I cant listen to the cd version, because it just doesn't have the same feel to it.

  • @mikepemby1 It is feeble in comparison.

  • This was also released in the UK as an Old Gold 7" B side single(with the brown sleeve and bright orange label),and had Oxygene part 4 as the A side,I always preferred this one though. I remember taking it to the music lesson at school back in 1988,(bearing in mind it was all Bros and Neneh Cherry),but I asked the teacher to play both sides,he did, and everybody was 'oh my god that's just mad!!!' Bonus!!!

  • Super !!!

  • Many thanks for this rarity!

  • I have this version on cassette. Im afraid I played it to death back in the late 80's, but its still playable. If I had the equipment, I would record it to my computer

  • @neil73 By that I mean the whole album, not just Part 5.

  • This version is vastly superior to any other version I have heard. This is from the LP understand. What about the quaiity of the MoFi gold version? I have never heard it myself...

  • What a great album!

  • @Dannymusic1999

    his best in my mind

  • Ahhhh.... oh my, that's nice... that's the version that drove me to obsess over JMJ when I was a teen in the '70s! I saw his promo tape on Merv Griffin (the other version posted on YT with the period video) and was hooked. I have the old albums still... Virgin Vinyl I think, though that might be my Mannheim Steamroller. In any case, THANK YOU for posting this version... I am so grateful...

  • @MrMichaelsReality

Me too, my friend! This single was the catalyst for me, my Father owned the single and used to play it non-stop. Also remember his playing Oxygene 4 on a tape recorder non-stop, so I was always destined to become a 'Jarrie'!

  • This is the original mix that I hear on the American printed LP Equinoxe that I bought two days ago for just $2.00!

  • Wow! What a fantastic mix, certainly the best one I've heard. Thanks for the post!

  • Wow. this version isn't even on the rarities CD (I have all 3 of them). I like this one.

  • I know! But goodness knows why not: it it has much greater depth and a fantastically 'raw' feel to it. One of the great Jarre 'mysteries'...along with not having Rendezvous Houston on DVD!!

  • Yeah. It certainly does. I have a cover of me playing Rendezvous 2 on my YT, although it's not that good since I learned it by ear.
