To write Japanese on your computer you just need to install the IME~ Just google it there are lots of tutorials.

My Japanese friend said the majority of times you would, unless it's casual conversation. I'm actually going to Japan next year, it's draining all my money lol. (This is a random youtube conversation, haha.)
