This reminds me of how deep the Metal Geart story really is. When I heard this in-game I started crying myself. I bow myself to the dust by Konami's feet for being able to make something so incredible.
@CybermeN100 I recommend it, make sure you played all of them before playing 4 to prevent confusion of the story. It's the final game for "Snake" and it's epic as hell.
@CybermeN100 get one the xclusives are amazing blu ray player onlite not as good as xbox but its free so im no fan boy im collecting money to get an xbox i play on pc sometimes and ps3
i feel so bad for Hal ): like every girl in his life ends up dying. SNiper Wolf, his stepsister, Emma, then Naomi. I was really depressed when Naomi died.
The original MGS for PS ruled...then they tried to get creative and it got all Japanese with all this crazy ridiculous supernatural shit happening. That's when it lost all credibility.
@gregorygushard Well Hideo Kojima IS Japanese. Japanese people in general aren't as jaded as westerners; that's why their games, literature and anime tend to have a slight supernatural twist to it, unlike most modern western fiction that tends to be cut n' dry realistic.
Fuck now I want to play this again, but my PS3 YLOD and I just managed to get it working again. I'm not sure if it can handle the hours of MGS gameplay in its current state.
regardless on all comments.. their accent changed .. and it sucked because of it.. Mei Ling's change is pretty far fetched (JohnKiller), Asians accents cant change that quickly, if at all... and Naomi just wouldve been hotter keeping the British accent and something about a British accent just suits the genetics nerd that she is. On the topic of British accents, i was disappointed Liquid/Ocelot lost his too, accent made the character more evil/conniving/devious etc .. just better..great game tho
@GreenPineapplez The british accent was a retcon... it wasn't supposed to be there in the first since she's middle eastern. But they should have kept that.
Accents change a lot over 9 years, especially when Mei-Ling working and talking in the US military. She's still not fluent in English and her Accent was reduced to a believable amount. Liquid/Ocelot lost his too because the real liquid is dead and Liquid Ocelot i a seperate concience that Ocelot developed to carry out his elaborete plan.
@bomimo1 as i said.. 'regardless'... i also said asian accents hardly change...Mei Lings asian accent is barely recognisable in MGS4.... and i also only put forward my dissapointment that Liquid Ocelot didnt have Cam Clarke as the voice actor.. not that it shouldnt of changed, given the circumstances..
@GreenPineapplez Then you should know why Cam Clarke did not Brit it out as a dead, non-existent villain/hero and again, EVERY accent change when you practice the language a lot, even chinese accents. that's a fact. But i have to say, i agree with the Cam bit. If the story had been differen't, he'd have been there but turns out he wasn't ever meant to lend his voice in MGS2 after the Tanker because Ocelots biotic arm was installed prior to the plant incident.
@GreenPineapplez Mei Ling never had an accent in MGS4's universe. In the GameCube remake of MGS1, Kojima realized that an Asian born and raised in the USA wouldn't have an accent so they made Twin Snakes' Mei Ling the one with the canon voice. I thought it was the right move.
@IfOUGHTpIRANHAz i dont need to comment my opinion on the voices anymore i think.. but pleasssee.. do NOT get me started with whats wrong with 'The Twin Snakes' ....
@GreenPineapplez it wasn't the ps1 version and they wanted to make use of the improved tech. and the mgs fan boys went crazed and rabbid foaming at the mouth for changing voice actors and ZOMG improving the animations which all the ps1 fan boys called "over the top". One dude taking out a 60 ft nuclear armed robot is over the top, the animations just took a while to get there.
@techmosis I said ive said enough about the voice actors.. but the Twin Snakes... the problem with that was that Hideo Kojima wasnt fully in charge of the game, yes he oversaw it, but he wasnt fully making it like the others... which led to Snake looking like something from the Matrix. Not MGS like at ALL. Of course its going to be over the top, its a video game.. but they had similar tech to work with in Sons of Liiberty and you dont see Snake dodging bullets or doing crazy flips.
@GreenPineapplez In a 2003 interview with Gamespot, Kojima explained how originally Ryuhei Kitamura (the cutscene director) initially made the cutscenes loyal to the original, but it was Kojima himself who said "This isn't it. If we're going to have Mr. Kitamura do it, we want him to do it his way." And considering that Kojima has said he was a fan of Kitamura's work even prior to Twin Snakes, he already knew what to expect from Kitamura in regards to his directing style.
@Sanguiluna Interesting piece of information.. Im gunna try and twist it into my point of view and say that even though Kojima respects/was a fan of Kitamura's work, that doesnt mean it suited Snake and because of this respect Kojima let him do it his way.
I wish they added this in the soundtrack but well....theres always music missing
By the way, i must say Naomi was a kind of an out of place chaarcter. If i remember rigth, she was Grey Fox sister and she steal Dr.Hunter papers soo she could act as Naomi and get close to Snake
Soo, shes not really Naomi Hunter. Why she keeps that name in MGS 4?
@nano69ify There are about 50 characters in the four MGS games. At the end of MGS4, only 8 are still alive.
When I counted them for the first time after finishing all games, I was actually suprised it were so many. Felt like a lot more had died. And only very few of them deserved it. : /
How did Naomi go from having a British accent to an American? And how did Mei Ling go from a Chinese accent to an American? I wanted to hear the original voice actors.
@techbbq Those are the same voice actors. I suppose they reinterpreted their parts to sound less stereotypical. Mei Ling would have lost most of her accent anyway considering the amount of time between the games chronologically.
@GreenPineapplez They used the same voice actors. Kim Mai Guest as Mei Ling and Jennifer Hale as Naomi. You heard the same voice you heard back in 1998.
@techbbq the where the osame voice actor just if you think by time span you anyones voice will chage acsent and the games time span is years so they would develop a different accent
@techbbq It's the same voice actresses. It's just that 1.) it may be possible that the characters simply lost their accents due to the people they were around (Mei Ling is in the Navy, and Naomi... idk), or 2.) blame Twin Snakes.
@JohnKiller118 Naomi was never meant to have a british accent because she's middle eastern. They fixed that mistake in MGS4 and people are not taking it lightly because they don't know their lore.
This is probably the Metal Gear Solid song that makes me want to cry the most. I love simply love it. There is no series greater than Metal Gear Solid. What Kojima made was a masterpiece.
