Having played the demo for Amnesia, I probably won't get it. Not because it's badly, but because I might run out of clean underpants in the first hour playing it.
I love how he just hangs a lampshade on his fanboying over the game. It can be summed up with "Amnesia isn't a perfect game, but it's almost unmatched as a constipation aid."

The product of this is one that spawns right behind you, and then disappears about five feet away from you. Aside from being another method of terror, I think it's meant to provoke you to question yourself, maybe even mistake a real monster as a hallucination. Or, who knows, maybe it is just another terror item.

I didn't play the game. I have not got the stomach for horror games or films, but I did watch my mate play it, and although I didn't sleep for a week (those bloody monster things scared my intestines out), it was immensely gripping, and strangely good fun having heart attacks every time the creepy music started, or the scratching, or the tiny glimpse of Mr Wide Mouth Shit Hole Monster. This review encapsulates the fear you feel when the buggers sneak up on ya, but is bloody funny as well :D

I always want to play a scarey game but i am so much of a chicken when i start playing the game i find that I'm in a fetal position and i haven't even moved my character.
When you finally run low enough on sanity the monsters can actually see you in the dark, so hiding around a corner is useless. You actually have to find something to hide in and pray they don't enter the room.
And when you go completely insane, you will eventually crumple onto the ground, lie there in the fetal position and whimper for a bit. Sure you can still drag yourself around while down, it's slower than a 104 year old man with down syndrome.
@EVIL1357 Here's the best part I liked about the insanity system. Most of the time, the best possible way to avoid being gutted by the monsters is to hide in a corner and stare at the wall. It's a return to a very childish, almost primal urge; you want nothing more than to look and make sure the monster isn't there, but if he is then you'll die, so you have to curl up in the corner and look at the wall and hope feverishly that he'll just pass you by...

one thing amnesia got right, is that you cant defend yourself, you cant be scared of a monster if you can just shoot it and make it go away, games like dead space and doom lose all of what makes them horror games (at least for me) just because of that.

Personally, I prefer the Penumbra games, more specifically any game after Overture. In Amnesia, Daniel's just this giant pussy who you have to goad to complete the game much like you would goad a kid to go to bed after watching a scary movie. In Penumbra Overture, the scariest thing is a wolf...really? A wolf? I was thoroughly disappointed that I had to chew through an entire game just to see one of the mutant zombies...

I have played through half of this game now. I have realized that what makes a monster spawn really is going into a certain room and maybe once every now and again doing something. But even more noticeable is that it will despawn if you hide from it long enough, making it easier to do your puzzles. Very useful information.
currently playing throught the game and it is sooo good at leaving you with that feeling you get in a good thriller where you expect the killer is somewhere but your not 100% sure as you walk into a room and its dark.. ominous.. and not like christmas at all.
Oh yeah. I wanna know if I Am i the only person playing this game thinking "wow.. this is castle is a renovators dream.. " with some re-wiring and some downlights it would make a lovely abode??
i think you would enjoy Catherine's story. the gameplay is incredibly hard but it does make you go holy hell every other time a boss comes. it is a horror game.

I have played through half of this game now. I have realized that what makes a monster spawn really is going into a certain room and maybe once every now and again doing something. But even more noticeable is that it will despawn if you hide from it long enough, making it easier to do your puzzles. Very useful information.

currently playing throught the game and it is sooo good at leaving you with that feeling you get in a good thriller where you expect the killer is somewhere but your not 100% sure as you walk into a room and its dark.. ominous.. and not like christmas at all.
Oh yeah. I wanna know if I Am i the only person playing this game thinking "wow.. this is castle is a renovators dream.. " with some re-wiring and some downlights it would make a lovely abode??

i think you would enjoy Catherine's story. the gameplay is incredibly hard but it does make you go holy hell every other time a boss comes. it is a horror game.
