  • I truly type these words with a heavy heart and a tear in my eye. I have never been so "PROUD" to be a die-hard Buffalo Sabres fan as I was while watching this very respectful and essential tribute to a player and person that emodied......competative nature, humor and genuine goodness. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and dearest friends. Heroes are remembered....Legends never die. Richard Lionel Martin will always be a LEGEND in my heart and mind. God speed.

  • Rest in Peace Mr.Martin Buffalo, NY misses you. Players in the NHL should watch the fire and desire the Rick had on and off the ice and let Ricks life be a example to all

  • R.I.P

    Richard Martin

  • May you rest easy in God's loving arms, Rick.

  • Great group of guys commenting. GREAT hockey player, and great person. Rest in peace Rico, you most definitely will be missed.

  • Thanks for the memories Rico...... RIP.

  • Too young... so sad.

    RIP #7

  • Long Live Rico.

  • Lifelong Sabres fan. Grew up watching the Awesome French Connection. What a shot he had an awesome talent.R.I.P Rick God Bless

  • very sad. When I first became a Rangers fan when I was 8 or 9 (1978-79), I clearly remember that line. Best wishes to his family. You are not alone.

  • That's mighty classy comments, Scruffton. Thank you. You carry on the tradition of class that Leafs fans have always had. Our teams are rivals, but there is much mutual respect there (unlike for the Bruins, lol),

I grew up in Buffalo and Rick Martin, Gil Perreault, and Rene Robert were my childhood heroes. They were not only great hockey players, but class acts to boot.

Thanks for your kind words about Rico. He will be sorely missed.

  • From a leafs fan...

My best wishes go out to Rick's family, and to all the sabres fans who grew up admiring Martin as a player and a person. It's not easy to hear the news that somebody you grew up looking up to has passed away. I was not fortunate to watch him play live as I'm only 22, but my father (also a leafs fan) had nothing but good things to say about Martin. He was a great player and a stand up human being.

  • Lindy looks like he is about to break down.

The Sabres did lose a legend today. He will be sorely missed.
