try putting the fuel source ABOVE your elbow and rigging a trigger wire from BELOW your elbow. SO when you straighten (or bend depending on how you rigg it) your arm the fuel source turns on. undo and it stops.

That is why there is a small gap between the flame and nozzle, it is the butane and oxygen in the atmosphere mixing to allow the fuel to burn. Essentially, pure oxygen can explode if you add fire...

There is a lack of oxygen. All fire needs oxygen to burn. Because the pipe and the canister is filled with pure butane, fire cannot exist due to a lack of oxygen.
