well i have heard many tapey's but let me ask a question. What is "Tapey" ?

@MitchTheRonin Tappa is the most popular amongst other folk music genre like charbaita,Badala,Neemakai and Qissa. Unlike Rubbaye all has irregular forms of expression in poetry. It can be concieved or sponteneous poetry choosen and sung keeping in view the theme and mood at that time.The parameters are naturally set by the cultural norms & history and the yardstick is the (in)famous Pashtunwali.

Attached to the mood, each verse (two liners) can be different and randomly sung.

@MitchTheRonin I am not an authority in culture and music but whatever I know about the world, Pashtu folk music has the unique ability of documenting the culture and traditions.Thats one of the reason that despite having one of the poorest literacy rate in the world Pashtuns are hardest nuts to break and they are always proud of their culture, whatever it is.

You can judge it from the expressions of the immersed audience in this clip.

It's the golden era of Pashtu music. Nashanaas, Khyal Muhammad still living and greats like Takkar and Haroon Bacha are born and making their marks on the scene of Pashtu music.

Haroon Bacha has distinguished himself by experimenting and setting new trends, while still sticking to traditional singing styles. Particularly in the genre of Tappa he is on the top amongst his contemporaries.

I wonder why he has not sung in this style. It's amazing, wonderful.
