It's a blend of Eastern, Continental, and English style. You are 'throwing' like English style, but your knit stitch is front to back like Eastern, and your purling is like Continental.
Thank you for your comment. I can now say that I am Eastern European:) One of my problems in knitting was that I had one summer that I spent with my grandmothers, one knitted, and one crocheted. So at 9 years old, that was confusing. But, my Mother did teach me her way of knitting, and she had been taught by a German war bride, since her Mother was the one that crocheted.
Most of the patterns I can work out, to be a decent piece, but never quite looks like the pattern:)
You don't knit funny - you just knit Eastern European style, a form of Continental. Very efficient - unfortunately, I was taught to knit English (throwing) style when I was 10 and 50 years later, my hands refuse to unlearn it. I wish I had been taught to knit as you do, or some form of Continental, because it looks so much more efficient and as someone said, ergonomic!
@latricotera I've been knitting english style for 20 years and I had a really hard time learning continental but it does respond to regular practice don't get discouraged ! The most difficult I guess is to get the tension right
You're definitely picking (Continental). You're just picking up the stitches differently, backwards - through back loops instead of the front loops for both knit & purl. I picked up my stitches the same way, I learned this exact way in Brazil, but once I started knitting in the U.S. I started to purl through the front loops, which made my knit stitches twisted because I was still knitting them through the back loop.
Cool to see you do it this way. Thought I was the only one! :o)
It looks as if it might be easier on the hands--more ergonomic? Very interesting--it's fun to see something so different. Your knitting fabric looks perfect, so I'd say it's working!
I like it ! I'm trying different ways to see which is easy for me. It is kinda hard once you get use to one way.

That's why I posted this, to find out if there were more of us that knit this way:)
Thank you very much Ladyborg. Do you have trouble following a pattern? I have to make some changes to get the pattern to fall as it is pictured. :)
