What an amazing performance for her!!! Sure, the choreography might have been a bit too simple and generic but everything else worked perfectly. You know, back when she was training with Jill Trenary, their styles were quite different. However, a few years after she went back to the GB to train, she began skating with Trenary-like sophistication. It is truly unfortunate that Conway was unable to deliver performances like this one more consistently, as she was such a talented skater.
Isn't it nice to see all these lovely comments about Joanne. A super skater when on form, it's just such a shame all the doubts crept back in the following year. I heard from someone "knowledgeable" that her practices at the 1992 Worlds would have put her on the podium had they been replicated in the competition.
With her talent in the figures, if Joanne had qualified for the worlds in 1990 and skated like she skated in 1991 in the short and free, she might well have won the gold
Her best FP ever, unrecognizable, the jumps are so clean and fully rotated, I just love this performance and wish she had skated like this more than once! Someone, please post her 91 Europeans FP as she skated well there too.
Great to see this performance. Thanks for posting this. She truly was among last Fassi-influenced students, and it shows very much in her skating. Wonder what she's up to these days?
Great performance, Joanne at her best. We have not had a female skater like her since. Triple Flip & Triple Loop in one programme. If only she had done that in Europeans 89 in Birmingham, she would have got the gold. Will never forget you Joanne.

Last thing I heard, she and her family emigrated to Spain, where her husband is now a national figure skating coach.
