Kamikazes did not sink one capital ship, & most ships sunk were not warships. The carriers sunk, were either escort carriers or mid-sized carriers and I do believe only 3 were sunk but others were damaged but it didn't matter since the USA alone - not counting the Brits - had ~100 carriers of all types.

First of all, the pilot's landing on an escort carrier. A ship that's twice as small as a fleet carrier, which means there isn't much room on the flight deck, which means your landing needs to be very precise. Second, I'm pretty sure the pilot knew he was way out of position to be able to land on the carrier so why didn't he pull out and go around for another try? And last but not least, CHILL OUT! @axiumvids, Kamikazes did not do the damage that the japs. thought they would, & by the time of Okinawa we knew how to deal with them since they were firdt used in the Phillipines. Kamikazes did not sink one capital ship, & most ships sunk were not warships. The carriers sunk, were either escort carriers or mid-sized carriers and I do believe only 3 were sunk but others were damaged but it didn't matter since the USA alone - not counting the Brits - had ~100 carriers of all types.

I would just like to say that carrier landings is the most difficult part of a naval aviator's job, even when the weather's calm and the seas are flat. Ask any navy pilot. And Number7smokesForEver, you raise a good point about the carrier rolling and pitching. The pilot probably assumed he was gonna catch the arrestor hook and then the rear of the carrier pitched down causing him to overshoot his landing...

First of all, the pilot's landing on an escort carrier. A ship that's twice as small as a fleet carrier, which means there isn't much room on the flight deck, which means your landing needs to be very precise. Second, I'm pretty sure the pilot knew he was way out of position to be able to land on the carrier so why didn't he pull out and go around for another try? And last but not least, CHILL OUT! I was only kidding. I'm a WWII naval enthusiast and I respect all who gave their lives.

Ever land on the deck of a rolling and pitching carrier deck with a (possibly) damaged Second World War era plane while (possibly) wounded? If you miss that very small tail-hook line that is what usually happens. His throttle was too high true and that mistake probably cost the pilot his life - having drowned while his plane sank like a rock where it remains to this day on the bottom - have some respect for the war dead for fuck's sake.

Herbicides were/are not covered by the Geneva Convention when used as a herbicide & not as a weapon. Our own troops suffered from the dioxin, & at that time Monsanto & DOW did not release all their knowledge about the effects of dioxin & they were subsequently taken to court by USA veterans & made to pay some compensation. Ginji989, The USA generally treated POWs quite well in both the pacific & Europe in comparison to thehow the Japanese and nazis treated POWs. The single badly wounded japanese combat officer captured on Tarawa wrote in his memoirs that he thought he would be tortured but was surprised & thankful that the US Marines treated his wounds & in his own words 'treated me like a brother'. Quite differnt than how the Japanese treated POWs & civilians in many cases.

Japan was approached many times starting Jan 1945 to surrender, but they would not accept the "unconditional surrender" demanded by the allies. So we had to do the Iwo and Oki thing, more men died etc.
What does the Yamato have to do with bombing?
The firebombing were not "easy" until about March of 45, and even then the Japs were still shooting them down. The "last Zeros" I guess you missed the Kamikazes

They had plenty of fight thru June 45 around Okinawa.
PH did NOT make sense. The Japanese wanted to expand for resources. There was nothing to say that the US wouldn't stay isolationist a long as the Japs didn't get near the US islands. Their fleet was in our backyard but we didn't attack them.
Again, go do some homework then come back.

Japan had always tried to surrender after the defeat in midway..the entire pacific war was not neccecary..
do some reaserch!
and PH was more like a lure to make the USA attack the weaking germany..japan whould not attack the US unless given such opportunity..
the whole war is a well planed lie..
to test the bomb on real people,, & to join the war

There are many cases of americans captured
but the only jappanese recorded captures are the jappanese-american civilians in america
& some officers
plus at the end of the war nearly all jappanese bodies has been mutilated..there is no body left to burry
for the americans & the Nazis WW2 was a racial supemacy game.. while others are being used to intensify their facist ideals
