I have been such a huge fan of jerry Jeff's from the first notes I heard from him. For a while when I was a long way from anywhere Id get a little drunk and cry and laugh and stuff listening to his albums over and over.
I met Jerry Jeff in the 90's, in Luckenbach, Texas (Yes, the same Luckenbach that Waylon & Willie sang about), and have the pictures to prove it. Tubs of beer and Jerry Jeff live in the Texas Hill Country. Man, it don't get much better than that!
I first saw JJW in '76 at the old Barton Coliseum in Little Rock. My 1st thought was "I gotta get my ass to Texas and I ain't never comin' back!" 34 years later here I am in Dallas and I've seen every great Texas hipneck that ever lived (Including Townes and especially Guy). I still don't care what the rest of the country thinks about music from the Lone Star Republic, in the words of Ray Wiley "Screw You, We're from TEXAS!"
This song--this player/writer--remind me of a great time many, many years ago. Wonderful combination of JJ and the Lost Gonzo Band doing a classic...gives me hope that just maybe the universe will blink and let us struggle on, regardless of our mistakes, etc.
"I got a feeling I can't explain, like dancing naked in that high hill country rain!"
Halleluah it's raining for the first time in 4 months!

Wow, I was there! I can't believe this footage exists. I wonder if any footage of the old Kerrville Bluegrass Festival exists.

Amazing video! The bass got a little hot in spots but heck ... it's a live video!

Met him outside a bar up north when he played here once and a while. Guess now his back isn't so good and he doesn't really leave Austin to play.
Got my picture taken with him. What a great guy. Makes me smile, laugh and cry all at the same time. Who knew that was possible?

Pretty good video - considering it is that old. The sound is very good.
