Contacting Ray Bolger. (strawman) This video misses the point. 99.9% of the time tap water is perfectly safe and better in the long run. However in disasters and famine relife bottled is better becuse it is the only real option. However the billions of bottles that pile up every year are mostly from people who think tap water is dangerous or tastes bad, which all studies say is BS. Get a water filter and cut down on waste.

Of course it's not "wasteful and stupid" to drink bottled water in the face of a disaster or water contamination. That's NOT what the politicians are referring to. The issue is not wasting water, it's wasting the plastic that bottled water comes in. Even though they are recyclable, the majority of people (just ask, or look, around) will NOT recycle. Plus, plastic bottles are NOT safe to reuse. Heated, they release elements of BPA, toxins that are leaked into the next liquid put in the bottle.

I been going as far as filling my empty diet coke bottles, full of water.

One way, is to buy a 6-pack of water plus a couple 2.5 gallon bottles, then refill the little bottles.  Better yet you can use a portable water filter, to refill the small bottles.

Buying 24-pack waters for home use, it is wastefull. Selling 24-packs at $3.99 encourages wastefullness.

There's a difference between saying "buying bottled water for everyday consumption is wasteful" and "bottled water has absolutely no good uses ever, not even in disasters".

Smart people assert the former, not the latter. Sure, bottled water is essential in some rare contexts, and should always be available for these. In the contexts where it is predominantly sold, however, it is not essential. It's a waste, it's a rip-off, it's lazy and stupid.

What did we ever do before Bottled Water. Well prior to the production of bottled water the military would bring in large containers and then pass out cups. Those cups could be utilized hundreds of times and didn't create any waste. Bottled water is a sham. If you buy bottled water you are an idiot.
