@kittypawz258: LOL! I'm from the Philippines myself and I'll assure you that the parents don't beat the crap out of these kids to sing like that. The people there generally likes belting and vocal acrobatic. The kids see/hear them on the media and naturally imitate whatever they see on TV. I'm not bragging or anything but there's a lot of kids who sings like that. One young singer who is almost in the door of int'l success is Charice Pempengco. Try searching her then let us know what you think.

lol - one training technique filipino singers do is to sing underwater ---- this helps your breathing and stuff... great singers here train like that even when they were little - regine velasquez (a filipina singer) sort of popularized that technique and she's like the role model for kids who want to sing here :)
