I was only 7 or 8 when you came to our house, thought you were a bit wierd then, it didn't take me long to understand the music as i do now, wish i could let you know how much you mean to me now.R.I.P.
All I saw throughout were captions blocking my view. Im sorry but, your pictures were good & what you were saying was good and it was well put together but, the captions ruined it for me. They were in the way & I couldnt enjoy the view.
I just mean they could have been smaller & more strategically positioned. you captured & downloaded this in good resolution so the captions could easily have been smaller & better placed so we can view your great images. Im still learning too.
watching this reminds me of my family, 3 scottish grandparents, scottish father, scottish surname, live at the other end of the country but still proud enough to wear the kilt for my wedding. Get back every couple years to warm the heart. Amazing place, people and forever a part of this englishman
Thanks for feeding my Scotland pangs. Now I can make due until I can come back. It's been two years and I hate not being there. RIP Stuart. And hoping Tony and the rest are well.

just in case my reply lands at the top as a new message, again, you wrote:'not even 1 of the members of Big Country is from Scotland.' Which one are you not talking about? Having spent time speaking to the members of Big Country, I can assure you that, either they have had very good Scottish accent lessons from around the Dunfermline area, (that's in Scotland, in case you wonder), or they are, in part, indeed from Scotland. Give us iron, give us rope.
Which of the three guitarists? Wikipedia is written by anyone who wishes to comment, much like YouTube...
So where was Stuart born? If not in Dunfermline? Is that in Wikipedia? I'll go and have a look, but don't believe everything you read on the internet. They would, though still be able to be Scottish and proud, regardless, no??
As with the national team, parentage counts, making most of the western hemisphere eligible to be Scottish ;-)
Thats my point. I have Scottish ancestry, but I do not consider myself Scottish. I am Canadian. It has been 80 years since my grandfather left Dundee. I don't know a soul in Scotland, don't even know if I have relatives there. Bruce Watson is the guitarist, and the one I was speaking of, born in Timmins, Ontario, about 400 kms north of Toronto. Adam Stuartson was born in Manchester.
Ok, fair point. You've shattered all my illusions :( Stuart Adamson :) was, like many kids, born where his parents found work. What does that mean in terms of nationality? Are you a proud Canadian? Could you be ruled from Washington? You could still have a small place in your heart for the wee country from which your genes descend. Our pride is sometimes the only thing that saved us from being swallowed-up. Canada is a free big country. Is it too much to ask to be a free wee wet country?
I am a proud Canadian, and would die before being ruled by another country. I have no beef with Scotland, in fact I will visit in the next year or two, and am told by elder people in my family that I exhibit traits of my grandpa in manner. My problem is with the loads of people here who fake their 'Scottishness' with bad accents and stupid drunken behavior. Or talk of renewing hostilities with the British?!!
Yes, that is annoying. Many forget that the last battle on British soil was not Scots against English. Members of the same families fought on both sides at Culloden, with Irish and Welsh on both sides as well. So a fairly British battle for the British crown. We Scots couldn't agree to fight as one since King Kenneth united most of us in the 9th century. And it was the greed of a few well-placed Scots that eventually b(r)ought the so hated Union. So, basically, we only have ourselves to blame.
Stuart Adamson was born in manchester but was brought up dunfermline and know he classed himself as a fifer. he supported dunfermline athletic football club and his speech at the leishman protest back in the 80s was inspiring. he was a great man and he was a fifer not a manc. RIP BIG MAN
Wow really kicked off an interesting debate here! Nationality is a very interesting thing. As the Duke of Wellington said when on being told he was Irish as he was born in the Emerald Isle "If I was born in a barn, would I be a horse?" Maybe it would have been better for the world if he was a horse rather than a war-mongering general but that's a different story!
Go Scottish ! I hope you ll have your independance one day. Lets fight the britpigs egglish like William Wallace did long time ago ! France support you. Breizh support you...
I didnt say english are all bad ;) I have good friends who are english. But I think Scotland deserves his independance ! They fight for it since 800 years.
ok i respect that what you just said, and that you didn't bite on my comment proves your are adult. i'm sure good people to horrible people are to be found everywhere you go. i wish you well. :) i like your national anthem by the way one of the best.

Go to Wikipedia. The guitarist is from Toronto. The singer moved there as a child, but was not born there, hence his authentic brogue.

I'd say that if anyone has heard Bruce Watson speak they'd be pretty sure what country he was from! That Fife accent is not easy bought.

As a fifer(dunfermline) myself i think that no-one can put it on(like the scouse or glasween)as it so deep and hard but i do love it
