I know because I've been on television. Lighting works differently depending on the skin tone. For example, I have brown skin, but I've taken pictures where I look nearly white! Did I have my skin bleached? No. Just a classic example of lighting. If Latoya looks brighter for any reason, it's because modern studio lighting actually brightens the skin in a way that old 80's and 90's studio lighting didn't.
