So this is from late 1982 early 1983 I guess, the change between Empire and Jedi.
Love my sharp eyes by the way. At 0:33 I noticed Stormtrooper Hoth Battle Gear hanging next to Princess Leia Hoth Outfit. But I had to review this movie many times until I could figure out where and when I noticed it the first time. Loved Stormtrooper Hoth Battle Gear.
Nice moment this with industry still in Europe....hope it returns one day.
Beautiful. Too bad I did not realise I back in 1982 should have taken close photographs on the toy displays and more of the toy stores back then. It was bigger at that time than it is today.
palitoy made all sorts of toys in england, from starwars to action man to dolls, most of my starwars had palitoy on the boxes ,i seem to remember footage of a lot of starwars figures being landfill when they couldnt sell them, aaargh,i wish these workers could be found to do a book on
It brings back memories. My auntie's sister-in-law was a part-time supervisor at the Coalville factory. She came back with lots of stuff that would make collectors cream in their pants and sell their parents, wives, siblings and children for them. Proof sheets galore, baggies, bags of weapons, promo displays for new vehicles etc. She knew they would be worth something one-day and she still has them all!!! And beleive me - i've tried to get hold of them!!!!
I had most of the Palitoy Star Wars line of toys. I hear hey closed in 1984, which would explain why most of the later original Star Wars toys had the US "Kenner" logo stamped on them.
Palitoy was in Coalville Leicestershire, became Kenner in 1984 - the old Palitoy factory sign was still in the yard in 1994 rotting away. Became Kenner/Tonka at some point and I think Hasbro now?
I'm not sure, will be passing thru Coalville soon so might take a look to see what's there now? I can can remember the Palitoy shop at the factory when we were kids, cheap Action Man stuff and Star Wars! Pocket money went further there than at the toy shop!
I'll be happy to add any info I can. I'll be visiting the old factory soon I hope to get some video footage. Also I'll try and get to the old dump although it is a secure area (that never stopped kids in the 1980's though!!)We used to get Star Wars toys from there and later on Real Ghostbusters. I remember my cousin lived in the village and he used to fetch toys almost daily from there. I can still see the dump from my bedroom window.
My mate lives on the street where the old factory still stands today (its on Google Earth). I knew people who worked there too and used to get figures from them. Also the village near me had an old quarry which Palitoy used to dump their rejected toys in....it was a haven for little boys back then!
this video makes me wet

I work in the building that all the Star Wars toys were made in, in Colaville - our address is 'The Old Toy Factory'.
We dream about finding a Millenium Falcon stashed away somewhere.... I wish!

Collectors beware...DONT EVER buy Star Wars stuff from Yodas Hovel on ebay or direct. He is a scam artist and aTHIEF and he will take your money.

Yes I think when Hasbro took them over they re-located the factory to Midlesex or somewhere.
