@dom123435 man, I gotta say you're right. I bought Illmatic cause everyone said it's the greatest shit ever. I already owned It Was Written (one of my favorites) and they told me illmatic was much better than IWW. when I first heard it I was dissappointed as fuck. I basically liked two songs: NY State of Mind and The World Is Yours. Otherwise...nah.
@FINbball I know I don't get it either, it's…alright, but the greatest hip hop album of all time, i don't think so. I listen to Black Star, Jurassic 5 (1st 2 albums), Talib Kweli, Ugly Duckling much more than I listen to that album. Each to there own though, we can't all be into exactly the same music or life would be pretty dull.
@tazzy27581 yeah you're right. My fav album is Word...Life by O.C.. But if everybody would think Illmatic is the greatest album ever, life would suck.
Let me tell y'all mothaf*cks sumthin'! and especially @MANDINGO19921
It's not bout who's a betta producer. That's sumone's own opinion. It's all about the sound of style u bring in yo beats. when u got a style of yo own that people can hear u r ''Doin' U''. And Dilla Really got THAT. you gotta be with that niggah! nd exually Kanye mentioned Dilla to be HIS BIGGEST INSPIRATION. So suck a dick if U aint with this. even Kanye would shit on you if u aint.
@Miltangelo What are you talking about Kanye saying Dilla was his biggest inspiration...you're so full of it. Give me a source for that, I've read that Kanye said he learned a lot from the RZA's style. And you can read that on MTV's article Kanye, Run-DMC, Outkast, Justin Sound Off On Our Top 10 Hip-Hop Groups
@TheQwerty92x "Common shares his memories of James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla aka Jay Dee. Common tells Nick Huff of Hard Knock TV that J Dilla is his, Pharrell's, Kanye's and Questlove's favorite producer."
@TheQwerty92x "Common shares his memories of James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla aka Jay Dee. Common tells Nick Huff of Hard Knock TV that J Dilla is his, Pharrell's, Kanye's and Questlove's favorite producer. "
@TheQwerty92x "Common shares his memories of James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla aka Jay Dee. Common tells Nick Huff of Hard Knock TV that J Dilla is his, Pharrell's, Kanye's and Questlove's favorite producer. "
@ArnthorJon Touche, but I don't hear it in his music at all. I remember now also reading Questlove say that Kanye was inspired by Dilla, however it doesn't sound like Dilla is his biggest inspiration. I just don't hear it at all, maybe a tad on the album Be, but eh. Also google dilla spaceship kanye questlove, 1st link stonesthrow site. Whatever.
@wonderbreadjumps that is the original version of that song that dilla made. kanye put his own version on the album and dropt that.. but i like both...
Funny? People on here are like I like Kanye's version better, than dilla's, and this and that, This is clearly not even a Dilla beat. Bandwagon-esque. This is coming from me not even a Dilla head like some cats out here.BOOOO!
This track is insane...JayDee really outdid himself on this one..but both Kanye and Dillas versions are nice..common should have just put both them on the album lol
Just because the song has the same name as the Kanye version doesnt make them the same at all. Kanye's fit way better as an into but this joint should have been on the album
i know common is the man and all that and he used to be one of my favorites...but then i heard some song he made with the jonas bros. yeah..the fucking jonas brothers...and for that...Im not buying anymore of his shit...fuck that shit.
Too different songs, this is Raw hard nosed hip hop the Ye version is smooth and pop flavored... Yay fcukin idiots for putting one against the other.... Good Music is Good Music, no pun intended
@OldshcoolTypeSoul look here you're either negroid, mongoloid or caucasoid or an admixture of one or more, and in my book all not considered negroid are not to be trusted and will get lumped in with whitey.
@OldshcoolTypeSoul your hispanic so what another caucasian black people invented rap, hip hop and jazz rock n roll gospel for sure then white people wanna try to redefine our inventions without us i.e the rock&roll the blues
@cmtgforever Nice rebuttle. Look I am Hispanic but that doesn't mean I'm going to get ignorant and say people can't listen to Jazz, Hip Hop, Blues, Freestyle, Rock N' Roll because of their skin color. That's being racist and to be honest, a pompus ignorant. Grow up because you are in the state of mind of a 12 year old.
We don't dance no more white boys and asians break dance. My nigga common is pro black kanye used to be. From Jigga to Waka its all rap lets keep it black or it'll be like jazz or rock n rol.
Get off the bandwagon half of these clowns never heard of most of the low key producers now they wanna act like the grew up with them guys. Kanye's track has an anthem, revolutionary vibe Dilla's has an old school rap vibe respectively. Since when did nerds and white boys tell black people what was real rap,cuz hip-hop shit is a new term.Gansta,Pro black, reality, party, all rap we do dance no mo.
Why are people arguing about whether dilla or ye's track is better? Both have their own finesse that the other didn't. Dilla was an off the wall producer who flew by the seat of his pants creating some of the most well known and respected hip hop every made. His style is second to none, not even ye can touch it. As for work, dilla was producing hip hop far earlier than ye, and even Kanye would admit Dilla has more tracks than him. But that doesn't mean one track is better than the other.
Not feelin' this beat at all, I understand the approach the producer was comin' from, but it ain't working for me. Rest of the album was great though.
Kanye West is a great producer but J Dilla makes soulful beats that stick to hip hop. Kanye adds variety to all his music. Both are great producers, IMO Kanye is in my top 3 of all time, but I definitely fuck with J Dilla.
Guys can we all agree that both Dilla and Kanye are great producers. Do you think that Dilla would want us arguing about this type of thing? Listen to music, don't fight about it.
@SluDemarco I did my research you angry homo. Kanye has more singles than Dilla, more acclaim than Dilla, and a bigger fan base than Dilla. Know who the fuck you talking to before you start acting hard on Youtube douche fuck!
@djdreamproductions No he doesn't. Before Dilla's death, Kanye still probably had more shit than Dilla. Remember, Kanye was a producer well before his success as a recording artist. The way i see it, all of Dilla's shit is already out. Kanye more than likely surpassed him while he was alive, even more when he is gone.

Miltangelo 1 year ago
@Miltangelo What are you talking about Kanye saying Dilla was his biggest inspiration...you're so full of it. Give me a source for that, I've read that Kanye said he learned a lot from the RZA's style. And you can read that on MTV's article Kanye, Run-DMC, Outkast, Justin Sound Off On Our Top 10 Hip-Hop Groups

Whatever.

Just because the song has the same name as the Kanye version doesnt make them the same at all. Kanye's fit way better as an into but this joint should have been on the album

@Smashkid86 J Dilla is my dude, but Ye's version was way more soulful.

@TheeCrowing Kanye's beat was nasty, but Common just spits fire on this track IMO.

@OldshcoolTypeSoul look here you're either negroid, mongoloid or caucasoid or an admixture of one or more, and in my book all not considered negroid are not to be trusted and will get lumped in with whitey.
cmtgforever 1 year ago
If you're not black negroid you're caucasoid I do not acknowledge mongoloids because most of them wish they were caucasoid.
cmtgforever 1 year ago
@MisterCasanovaa tell me what is a spaniard caucasoid does not mean white

@OldshcoolTypeSoul your hispanic so what another caucasian black people invented rap, hip hop and jazz rock n roll gospel for sure then white people wanna try to redefine our inventions without us i.e the rock&roll the blues
cmtgforever 1 year ago
@cmtgforever Present day Hispanics are derived from a combination of spaniards, Indians and blacks you ignorant moron
MisterCasanovaa 1 year ago
@cmtgforever Another caucasian? You need to go back to school.
OldshcoolTypeSoul 1 year ago
Nope black music is great white music is imitation.
cmtgforever 1 year ago
@cmtgforever Nice rebuttle. Look I am Hispanic but that doesn't mean I'm going to get ignorant and say people can't listen to Jazz, Hip Hop, Blues, Freestyle, Rock N' Roll because of their skin color. That's being racist and to be honest, a pompus ignorant. Grow up because you are in the state of mind of a 12 year old.

We don't dance no more white boys and asians break dance. My nigga common is pro black kanye used to be. From Jigga to Waka its all rap lets keep it black or it'll be like jazz or rock n rol.
cmtgforever 1 year ago
@cmtgforever Jazz is a GREAT musical genre no matter who color does it; white, black, hispanic, asain, etc etc. Don't be so ignorant.
OldshcoolTypeSoul 1 year ago
Get off the bandwagon half of these clowns never heard of most of the low key producers now they wanna act like the grew up with them guys. Kanye's track has an anthem, revolutionary vibe Dilla's has an old school rap vibe respectively. Since when did nerds and white boys tell black people what was real rap,cuz hip-hop shit is a new term.Gansta,Pro black, reality, party, all rap we do dance no mo.
cmtgforever 1 year ago
Why are people arguing about whether dilla or ye's track is better? Both have their own finesse that the other didn't. Dilla was an off the wall producer who flew by the seat of his pants creating some of the most well known and respected hip hop every made. His style is second to none, not even ye can touch it. As for work, dilla was producing hip hop far earlier than ye, and even Kanye would admit Dilla has more tracks than him. But that doesn't mean one track is better than the other.
ekoldr 1 year ago
Dope Track, but I can see why Common didn't use this song on the album. It wouldn't have fit with the rest of the album. Total different feel.

if i can bet that this beat isn't from dilla for 100 dollar or euro then i would do it!!!
i would ask common or kanye who really made this beat 4 reeeeeeel
Dschaylizy 1 year ago
Not feelin' this beat at all, I understand the approach the producer was comin' from, but it ain't working for me. Rest of the album was great though.
ImyManz99 1 year ago
@ImyManz99 get outta here, this beat is so fly. it goes hard perfectly with the flow of common right here.

Kanye West is a great producer but J Dilla makes soulful beats that stick to hip hop. Kanye adds variety to all his music. Both are great producers, IMO Kanye is in my top 3 of all time, but I definitely fuck with J Dilla.
Quagmire97 1 year ago
Guys can we all agree that both Dilla and Kanye are great producers. Do you think that Dilla would want us arguing about this type of thing? Listen to music, don't fight about it.

@SluDemarco I did my research you angry homo. Kanye has more singles than Dilla, more acclaim than Dilla, and a bigger fan base than Dilla. Know who the fuck you talking to before you start acting hard on Youtube douche fuck!
MANDINGO19921 1 year ago
@MANDINGO19921 ummmm, as far as singles goes, maybe, but dillas work quadrouples kanyes. hes got way more material out there. waaaaay more
djdreamproductions 1 year ago
@djdreamproductions No he doesn't. Before Dilla's death, Kanye still probably had more shit than Dilla. Remember, Kanye was a producer well before his success as a recording artist. The way i see it, all of Dilla's shit is already out. Kanye more than likely surpassed him while he was alive, even more when he is gone.
MANDINGO19921 1 year ago
@MANDINGO19921 doubt that
