i believe it's some kind of homage to Joe Strummer, whose nickname was Woody, and is kind of an idol for the lead singer of this band, Brian Fallon.

I wish these guys would chill out with the wannabe 50's sound. Their new stuff is good, but absolutely NOTHING compared to this. They're not really even punk anymore.

@crassisdead well, Brian grew up in a very religious household and was inspired by Bob Dylan, especially. All of his solo work resembles folk artists, not punk. However, Joe Strummer was the first person he discovered and loved on his own, hence the tattoos and the song off Sink or Swim. He also said Pearl Jam is his favorite band and he likes writing songs as they come for himself, not others. So, the fusion of punk and classics, plus their modest attitude, is fine with me. Punk or not.

@BassistBill1988 Well I guess I only really thought of them as a punk band, so I guess that makes sense. I guess they only have punk influences. I think I can appreciate their newer stuff a little more with that in mind.

@crassisdead Yeah. I initially only had a slight interest in these guys. I was big into punk and not really keen on MTV's idea of punk. However, I always did love classic rock as well, because that is as real as music can get, to me at least. So one night I fell asleep with one of Gaslight's albums on, and out of nowhere they exploded and struck something in me. Now I can't stop listening to them.

@1039smoothedouts I know! And I love The Gaslight Anthem! But the intro of this song sounds A LOT like the intro of "Brick by boring brick" by paramore. Obviously this song is older than "Brick by boring brick", so they CAN'T have copied paramore (which is not what I was suggesting).
