They take inspiration from the bible in a number of songs. Ever hear Dear God? How about Chapter Four (which is about Chapter Four in the book of Genesis btw)? Listen to the lyrics not the title. For example God Hates us was written with the Rev's death. The lyrics contradict themselves because the point is

@postie464 It was Cain because Cain was made a restless wanderer of the Earth after killing Abel. Cain said that anyone could kill him on sight now (basically like his life didn't matter anymore). In order to avoid Cain escaping punishment, God said he was putting a mark on Cain so that if anyone kills him he'd be Avenged Sevenfold (basically if someone kills Cain to end his punishment they'd be punished to a further extent than Cain was). I know my stuff lol :) Sevenfold is the best band.
