The reason there are no other good auction sites is because eBay is the only one that does it right. Other companies try (Amazon, Google, Yahoo) but fail miserably, because they are horrible. Believe me I've tried them all! eBay members cry for better customer service and fraud protection, so eBay hires more people to help the customers, so they have to raise some prices to pay for the new reps, then the sellers complain again. Sheesh! Stop whining!
I was hoping there was an ebay alternative too. I looked at a couple of other auction sites and most seem like mom and pop auction sites. Yahoo used to have a similar auction site. I went there and it closed!

Here is what I have experienced so far. I have 4 auctions that ended the day they started the new "policy". It's been 8 days and no money from the buyers. They can easily walk away from the buy and leaves me stuck with the products. I have received a couple messages from buyers saying that I better ship within a day or they will leave me with a negative feedback. After my final auctions close, I'm no longer going to sell on ebay. My feedback is 632 with 4 feedbacks. I'm disgusted. Fun is over.

I forgot to place a reserve on an auction and didn't want to give it away. So eBay suspended me for 14 days, THEY CANCELLED ALL MY AUCTIONS AND DIDN'T RETURN THE LISTING FEES I PAID FOR ALL OF THEM...none of them! Just Say NO to eBay!

Oftentimes sellers just don't want to admit that they have most of the advantages over buyers. Personally I have 100% positive feedback as a seller and offer a 100% guarantee on all my items (I'm only taken up on it on 1% of sales!)... so I'm not one of these phoney balonies who complains that PayPal made them give a refund... because it isn't neccesary... My overall feedback is 99.6 for the specific reason that I've refrained from leaving negative feedback for some VERY deserving sellers...
Fee increases aside the reason why many ebay sellers are boycotting is because of feedback. I support the ebay change in feedback policy! Unfortunately I will never be able to get the account I sell on back up to 100% feedback because of one Shameful Retaliatory feedback I received from a seller who refused to refund a broken item (I won the PayPal dispute, but the Bogus feedback remains).. I know for a fact this type of behavior by sellers drives potential new ebayers away...
I had the same problem as JeremysVideos. I came accross a seller who never sent the item. I opened dispute with Paypal & a month later with no repsonse from him I won.
Then he leaves me neg feedback. Ebay state they could not help. I could mutually withdraw but, by doing this he would also have his withdrawn. Where is the justice?
I was once proud of my 100% positive feedback both as seller&buyer. Now I have this black mark. Im boycotting EBAY!

vipetrucci, I understand completely how you feel but eBay has changed the feedback system so that - starting May 1st - sellers will *no longer* be able to leave retaliatory negative feedback for buyers such as what we experienced. It is for precisely that reason imho that we should NOT participate in this "boycott". Let's be loyal to the 99.8% of sellers who will remain loyal to us! We should reward them for their willingness to adapt not join these lemmings in their cliff diving experiment!
I'm with you guys when it comes to fee increases (except Hidden Reserve - I'm GLAD they raised that, would be better if they got rid of it entirely if you're not willing to accept less than a certain amount just say so). the reason why I'm not participating in the supposed boycott (by a very small yet also very vocal minority) is because I disagree with the sellers on most issues. I have many friends and acquaintaces who have had bad experiences as ebay BUYERS and vowed to never return.
Well I'm against monopolies so I support you for what you are doing in terms of trying to convince Google to create a rival site... internet sales are on the rise and will continue to gain market share imho small sellers like us deffinately need alternatives. Having said that I do not support the Sellers Strike which somewhat ironically begins on International Workers Day May 1st by that time I expect to be doing at least 100 dlls a day in eBay purchases, I will also be selling.

I been selling on ebay for years as a hobby. i look at ebays never ending fees kinda like paying more at the gas pump. i dont like the hikes so we only use the wifes little car and let my 85z28 sit in the garage, i wish there was anouther ebay typ place that didnt fee hike like they do, but till then ill just have to drive my wife econo car for a while.

You are so right! We need someone to bring Ebay to it's knees. The best solution would be if Google could do it and many of us would back them all the way. The way Google could really do it would be to have all the fees to list and sell back when it was reasonable and the little people could afford to sell there and make a little money. If Google made the fees for auctions and buy no at the 2005 level that Ebay had it, they would succeed immediately only if they kept the fees at that rate!
I believe that in order for any boycott to have any effect at all is the longer the boycott is, the better effect and a much better wake up call it would be if the boycott was at least several weeks in order to hurt Ebay in their pocket books. Even better would be to put the boycott in place UNTIL Ebay lowers it's rates to the more reasonable level it used to be. Make the boycott longer and then and ONLY then will it have an effect. It's not like the higher gas prices are affecting them!

All Ebay has to do is sit back and rake in the money while the postal rate hikes, Ebay raise in fees are making it impossible for Ebay sellers to make any money. The postal fees are understandable because of the hike in gas costs but all the ebay execs have to do is sit in their easy chairs and let the money roll in. Thats why unions stay on strike untill demands are met. Stay on strike and keep there profits 17% lower for as long as it takes and we need to get the word out to more sellers. For 3 days I've been searching for an alternative to ebay. Made a list of possibilities. I decided to try iOffer. Oh MY! Technologically A+++++++++++. Not thru testing for sell successes but it is DEFINATELY a highly advanced excellent option! YIPPEEE There are alternatives! I may send a thank you card to fleecebay for this policy and price fiasco! Remember that a CEO only answers to the shareholders not to the customers. So there are truly only two ways to move eBay. Strike/reduce the amount you spend with them. The shareholders won't notice until they announce the quarterly results. If it's dramatically enough the CEO will be held accountable. The second is for all of us to band together and purchase as many shares of eBay. Then when we have enough shares,we'll fire the CEO.

As a dealer, I always leave positive immediately after payment because the buyer has completed their part of the deal, which is to pay for the item, but this has bitten me a time or two. I have never agreed with ebay feedback policy. Anyone can say anything about anyone with no recourse.
Actually, I agree with the feedback rule. As a buyer I gave positive feedback to justpatgen on a purchase and he returned with a negative feedback which ruined my 100% positive. I had no recourse and Ebay would do nothing to remove or alter the feedback.
I feel sellers sometimes abuse the upper hand they have been given and I welcome the more fair treatment.
As far as the rate increase, I'll join the boycott to support the good sellers. I'll never buy from a Canadian again though.

Here is what I have experienced so far. I have 4 auctions that ended the day they started the new "policy". It's been 8 days and no money from the buyers. They can easily walk away from the buy and leaves me stuck with the products. I have received a couple messages from buyers saying that I better ship within a day or they will leave me with a negative feedback. After my final auctions close, I'm no longer going to sell on ebay. My feedback is 632 with 4 feedbacks. I'm disgusted. Fun is over.

COUNT ME IN AGAIN! I joined the boycott in February and will again. I am not listing any new auctions and hope to do so permanently. I was just accused of shill bidding by eBay. I forgot to place a reserve on an auction and didn't want to give it away. So eBay suspended me for 14 days, THEY CANCELLED ALL MY AUCTIONS AND DIDN'T RETURN THE LISTING FEES I PAID FOR ALL OF THEM...none of them! Just Say NO to eBay!

Oftentimes sellers just don't want to admit that they have most of the advantages over buyers. Personally I have 100% positive feedback as a seller and offer a 100% guarantee on all my items (I'm only taken up on it on 1% of sales!)... so I'm not one of these phoney balonies who complains that PayPal made them give a refund... because it isn't neccesary... My overall feedback is 99.6 for the specific reason that I've refrained from leaving negative feedback for some VERY deserving sellers...

Fee increases aside the reason why many ebay sellers are boycotting is because of feedback. I support the ebay change in feedback policy! Unfortunately I will never be able to get the account I sell on back up to 100% feedback because of one Shameful Retaliatory feedback I received from a seller who refused to refund a broken item (I won the PayPal dispute, but the Bogus feedback remains).. I know for a fact this type of behavior by sellers drives potential new ebayers away...

I had the same problem as JeremysVideos. I came accross a seller who never sent the item. I opened dispute with Paypal & a month later with no repsonse from him I won.
Then he leaves me neg feedback. Ebay state they could not help. I could mutually withdraw but, by doing this he would also have his withdrawn. Where is the justice?
I was once proud of my 100% positive feedback both as seller&buyer. Now I have this black mark. Im boycotting EBAY!

vipetrucci, I understand completely how you feel but eBay has changed the feedback system so that - starting May 1st - sellers will *no longer* be able to leave retaliatory negative feedback for buyers such as what we experienced. It is for precisely that reason imho that we should NOT participate in this "boycott". Let's be loyal to the 99.8% of sellers who will remain loyal to us! We should reward them for their willingness to adapt not join these lemmings in their cliff diving experiment!

I'm with you guys when it comes to fee increases (except Hidden Reserve - I'm GLAD they raised that, would be better if they got rid of it entirely if you're not willing to accept less than a certain amount just say so). the reason why I'm not participating in the supposed boycott (by a very small yet also very vocal minority) is because I disagree with the sellers on most issues. I have many friends and acquaintaces who have had bad experiences as ebay BUYERS and vowed to never return.

Well I'm against monopolies so I support you for what you are doing in terms of trying to convince Google to create a rival site... internet sales are on the rise and will continue to gain market share imho small sellers like us deffinately need alternatives. Having said that I do not support the Sellers Strike which somewhat ironically begins on International Workers Day May 1st by that time I expect to be doing at least 100 dlls a day in eBay purchases, I will also be selling.

I been selling on ebay for years as a hobby. i look at ebays never ending fees kinda like paying more at the gas pump. i dont like the hikes so we only use the wifes little car and let my 85z28 sit in the garage, i wish there was anouther ebay typ place that didnt fee hike like they do, but till then ill just have to drive my wife econo car for a while.

Ebays reputation was severly tarnished on a global level after Jan 27,2007. They were the "laughing stock" around the planet.
Have you also noticed that ebay now favors the consumer and user names are only given to the seller after the auction so people like you can't rig the auction.
Ebay used to get there fix from people like you and now it's all over Carlos.

You are so right! We need someone to bring Ebay to it's knees. The best solution would be if Google could do it and many of us would back them all the way. The way Google could really do it would be to have all the fees to list and sell back when it was reasonable and the little people could afford to sell there and make a little money. If Google made the fees for auctions and buy no at the 2005 level that Ebay had it, they would succeed immediately only if they kept the fees at that rate!

I believe that in order for any boycott to have any effect at all is the longer the boycott is, the better effect and a much better wake up call it would be if the boycott was at least several weeks in order to hurt Ebay in their pocket books. Even better would be to put the boycott in place UNTIL Ebay lowers it's rates to the more reasonable level it used to be. Make the boycott longer and then and ONLY then will it have an effect. It's not like the higher gas prices are affecting them!

All Ebay has to do is sit back and rake in the money while the postal rate hikes, Ebay raise in fees are making it impossible for Ebay sellers to make any money. The postal fees are understandable because of the hike in gas costs but all the ebay execs have to do is sit in their easy chairs and let the money roll in. the fee rates would average up to 15 to 20% higher profit for ebay, the strike which is now over was estimated to have 17% fewer listings...ebay still made money..if you want to make a point...leave and see what effect that has.....a week long strike with a company the size and volume numbers just doesn't make an impact...good try though...

Thats why unions stay on strike untill demands are met. Stay on strike and keep there profits 17% lower for as long as it takes and we need to get the word out to more sellers. I looked at all kinds of news programs and I never seen anything that mentioned anything to do with the strike. I'm waiting for a few things I bought and I'm closing my ebay account for good.I would like to have a middle finger icon here instead of this sentence for ebay. I don't understand the point of punishing good sellers with red letters announcing low scores that aren't that low and setting impossible goals just for a 15% discount on fees and exposure on searches. This needs to be a permanant boycott. In the meantime, keep promoting new sites! OLA, OLA, OLA!!! It's not going to happen overnight, but it will happen eventually if we don't give up.

For 3 days I've been searching for an alternative to ebay. Made a list of possibilities. I decided to try iOffer. Oh MY! Technologically A+++++++++++. Not thru testing for sell successes but it is DEFINATELY a highly advanced excellent option! YIPPEEE There are alternatives! I may send a thank you card to fleecebay for this policy and price fiasco! Seriously. My selling costs are gonna be cut by about 75% if ioffer works well selling! Amazing.

Remember that a CEO only answers to the shareholders not to the customers. So there are truly only two ways to move eBay. Strike/reduce the amount you spend with them. The shareholders won't notice until they announce the quarterly results. If it's dramatically enough the CEO will be held accountable. The second is for all of us to band together and purchase as many shares of eBay. Then when we have enough shares,we'll fire the CEO.

As a dealer, I always leave positive immediately after payment because the buyer has completed their part of the deal, which is to pay for the item, but this has bitten me a time or two. I have never agreed with ebay feedback policy. Anyone can say anything about anyone with no recourse.

Actually, I agree with the feedback rule. As a buyer I gave positive feedback to justpatgen on a purchase and he returned with a negative feedback which ruined my 100% positive. I had no recourse and Ebay would do nothing to remove or alter the feedback.
I feel sellers sometimes abuse the upper hand they have been given and I welcome the more fair treatment.
As far as the rate increase, I'll join the boycott to support the good sellers. I'll never buy from a Canadian again though.

I guarantee you every ebay exec is rich, wealthy, rolling in dough - among the many other good reasons to boycott ebay - they are very wealthy because of seriously skimming the system and sellers with agressive fees for years - AND they do not listen - boycott ebay! "EBay says it is not worried about this strike. The company says the boycott is just noise that will die down." - more proof of corporate arrogance.

Sure ebay will probably oust me (small seller)78w/100fb but why would any other site do it cheaper and it would be short if they did. Seems like paypal and ups gets a good chunk not to mention buying anything bulk that goes through customs from China. Remember before ebay? Classified and Trader papers. Go check their prices, whew!

I sold one thing on ebay, and I hated their fees. I e-mailed Google about the Auction site. I would use that more often if they actually did make it.

They just pushed a little too far, the door is open to competition. The real shame is how cool Ebay use to be. I would list everything in the shop, new item, even if I could just make 10% it was cool. I sol
