  • It all boils down to what's best for the child. Do we put our kids in situations that will confuse them, refute their faith and be totally misaligned with God's Word and our God-given responsibility or do we put our kids in a Christ-centered environment to prepare them for the world once they're done with the comprehensive and aligned training they receive at home and at Christian school? Scripture is clear - it's a 24/7/365 role. Public education just can't help us in that.

  • Thank you for a clear 'take' on the basic tenets of Christian Education. I am torn between providing my children with the obvious benefits of being part of Christian education, and with being 'in the world but not of the world' and sending them to state schools. Here in Australia, the schools are good both ways, but do I nurture my kids through christian ed, or challenge them to be faithful in state ed???

  • @cuttoes Thanks 4 that, & thanks for your thoughtful question. The challenge for us who've been educated in state schools is to "see" them truly, as institutions with their own religious programme, humanism. The best service you can give to your children is to educate them where Christ is clearly Lord, i.e. that they are schooled in preparation for service of God & man in the real world. This is a tough challenge but it's our high calling as parents, God'll give grace as you seek him earnestly

  • @meangreen4321 Hmmm... yes, you're right, I think it is the nature of community to seek to enforce the behaviours of the community through various types of pressure. In N. Ireland the pressure is very much the opposite, a good Christian will send their children to a state school. The main thing, however, the way to freedom, is that the Christian will follow the law of Christ with their heart and life, and thus be free from all external pressure. Thanks for your comment :)

  • I think some parents can feel pressured to send their kids to a Christian school for the sake of the community and fear of being rejected.
