They also believe that this is a holy river and bathing in it or drinking it will cleanse ur sins. My dad has kept a sample of Ganga water for more than 15 years, and I can tell you it is more pure than any filtered water you will come across. Its physical properties unmistakable resemble that from fresh water springs. As someone mentioned, it naturally produces bacteria-killin organisms, but i do agree its pretty dirty, shud b cleaned :p

The tap water in India like Mexico is filled with bacteria, and when foreigners try to drink it they tend to get sick but the people living there can drink the water and not to get sick. @raahulworld i don't see anything weird about the show, and it is on the Travel Channel, its a tv station. as for major countries washing their clothes on river, it depends what you mean by "major country". but i will agree that even big nations have dirty rivers...but very rarely would i imagine people use them for that, if they do then i don't see the point in washing in dirty water. most developed countries don't do it.
but i can see how Ganges would be clean in some parts but not in others.

one thing that they did not mention in this video is that people pay for their loved ones bodys to be dumped into the river. They believe that this will help them reach the after life easier. They also believe that this is a holy river and bathing in it or drinking it will cleanse ur sins. Im surprised that he went in because of that fact that you can get illnesses that are fatal and also when ur bathing in there or sometimes standing on shore u can see bodys float by.

My dad has kept a sample of Ganga water for more than 15 years, and I can tell you it is more pure than any filtered water you will come across. Its physical properties unmistakable resemble that from fresh water springs. As someone mentioned, it naturally produces bacteria-killin organisms, but i do agree its pretty dirty, shud b cleaned :p

The tap water in India like Mexico is filled with bacteria, and when foreigners try to drink it they tend to get sick but the people living there can drink the water and not to get sick.
