hey, great tune really puts a different spin on a fantastic song, if your looking for suggestions for other oasis covers, maybe gas panic?? that would sound awesome with looping piano with your softer lyrics?? obviuosly the live arrangment would be better, just a thought, keep up the good work, you is a very talented boy
I wanted to retain the feeling of originality with the vocals. I thought a Liam-esque vocal over the piano part I'd come up with wouldn't be right. That said, your "churchy" comment is well said. I probably should've sung with more "edge" ... but this was my first YouTube recording!
Thanks again. I'm glad so many people enjoy originality in a cover. Genuinely surprised.
as a fan of oasis, it's a pity that oasis aren't good pianists who could use this kind of mccartney-white-album-jazz arrangement to give their songs a different slant now and then.
Thank you. I'm so surprised to hear frequent references to it being "jazzy" because I always feel that I'm forever struggling to achieve jazz-like playing...
The arrangement came out of 4 hours improvising with the chords, lyrics and (most of) the melody line - all provided by Oasis before the track had been released (you know about the competition right?). I hadn't heard ANYONE do the track at the time - which definitely made it easier to try it on piano. I'd play it better if I spent a few days practising...
Really appreciate the feedback. Thanks. I'm thinking of doing piano versions of other songs. Suggestions welcome! (and maybe heeded?)
NICE LEGS! lol just kidding... i wish i could play the piano, a play a little guitar though, still learning, all i can really play is "born on a different cloud" "Morning Glory" and "Songbird" lol
Yeah. I managed to cut out my face, but you got my legs instead. Sorry about that. I'm an amateur with a brand new camera. Managed to get my legs in my other Oasis number too and again didn't notice until too late. I won't make the same mistake thrice. Sorry about the needless use of an archaic word. Pompous for pompousness' sake!
Re: playing the piano. Find a friend with an old keyboard they don't want and beg or borrow it. Then learn to play like you probably learnt guitar - starting with one-note riffs. The great thing about having a keyboard is being able to record multiple parts in the memory so you can produce things way beyond what you can play. Above all, have fun. For me that meant teaching myself as I didn't enjoy learning from music as is typical...
Hmmm. I was thinking bluesy for one or two of the other available tracks, but I'll give it a try for this one - not promising to post the result, though.
I can play blues but not sure how to make it bluesy without wanting to sing "Woke up this morning...". (-:
Thanks for the comment. I was surprised at how it turned out and expected I'd end up with something that was more rock 'n' roll...
You definitely deserve more than two stars mate. You can obviously play the piano and you did a good job seeing as you probably haven't heard the whole Oasis version yet!
I haven't heard ANY of the Oasis version yet and the melody clip they provide isn't complete in a few small places so I've had to make a few bits up to fit the chords here and there. Good of you to be understanding. Still, I know it really needs more practice - I just wanted to do something a little different...
I'm actually English. I haven't updated my location on YouTube!
I didn't try to do a Liam-like vocal because
(a) I probably can't
(b) It didn't seem right to do the vocal Oasis-like when the piano part I've done is so un-Oasis
Thanks for the comments though. I've been enjoying the Liam-esque vocals of other entrants so I understand what you mean. Sorry for sounding American. And sorry to any US people offended by that first apology! (-:
Thanks Jim. Your kind words mean a lot, though I'm sure everyone else has just enjoyed the experience as much as I have and the comments and feedback are almost secondary...
Wish I had a band to work with. So much harder I imagine, but also a lot more possibilities to explore.

See this is original! Nice one man! Off course the singing becomes a bit to churchy but still! Original. Nice to hear.

Fantastic arrangement, truly original. It's wonderful to hear an Oasis song turned into a jazzy tune. Great job!

I go to bed with two ratings (giving 1 star) - thanks Liam, Noel - coming from you guys "poor" seems fair. (-:
Now this morning I have 4 ratings and 1.5 stars. Go me!
The only way is up! (I feel a YATPP cover coming on). Kudos/Shame on you if you can figure what YATPP stands for.
