  • 1. Will Cortisone shots help cure a Slap Tear (Left Shoulder) ?

    2. Would a standard MRI be able to reveal a slap tear ?

    3. Would an MRI Arthrography reveal a slap tear not revealed by a standard MRI?

Great video, thank you so much.

  • I tore my rotator cuff almost a year ago and I'v had several months of physical therapy which helped a little. But the effects wore off and i feel like I'm back to square one again and I'm in excruciating pain. I'm a teenager and i want to be able to swim competitively like i used to. Is this effective enough to allow me to swim comfortably? Also, is it safe to have if your still growing?

  • @101SpaceLover

I have not examined you but I can tell you it's highly unusual for someone your age to have a torn rotator cuff. Your problem is more likely related to instability and/or your labrum.

    Good luck!

  • @pepeps Thanks! Much Appreciated! But unfortunately there is a tear on my infraspinatus visible on the MRI.

  • Thank you for two things: Your years of hard work and dedication to your studies in Medicine and surgical repairs, and for posting this video. it certainly assists in putting to rest many questions and concerns.

  • What a mess. I'd better get serious about my stretching exercises, so this doesn't happen to me.

  • i need that surgeon

  • if my Mother and Father was only alive to see this, they'd think I slipped them something. amazing technology.

  • i have had both og mine fixed was very unpleasant but worth it

  • this is so beautiful, and neat!!! on which one of the rotator cuff muscles was the repair? it's amazing... it makes me crave for the day I get to study arthroscopic surgery! thank you for sharing it!

  • whats the white stuff...bone?

    im confused

  • To help clear things up for you, look at our other video. It shows the surgery on a model and on a real patient.

  • @pepeps I just don't understand how they made the knots?

  • the white stuff are tissues....for insulation and such

  • I have this surgery done on my left shoulder. The accident happened on April 2008. I seen multiple of doctors and they just gave me steroid shots. They seen that wasnt working so they x-ray and saw 3 tears. 1 major and 2 minor . They went into my shoulder with the scopes and seen my bone had shifted. Im just getting into physical therapy as of last week March. The big cushion sling I had to wear was for a excruciating 2 months. I never experienced that pain in my life.

  • Hi. I'm having this done on March 8 th,

    one and ahalf torn tendons.

Can anyone tell me about recovery time,

weeks, months? etc i want to go sailing this summer..Thanks R.

  • What's amazing (and scary) is that they used to do this surgery with a huge (4 inch long) incision on the shoulder and they used to use manual file-like things instead of high-speed rotary burrs. Makes me cringe just thinking about it.

  • I am going in for surgery in two weeks, it is kinda nice to see how it is done, although after looking at this I "seem" to have more pain. imaginary I am sure. my tear happened at work, I am a Transit bus operator, there are allot of people who have had damage done to their shoulders...

  • Thanks for information- am going in for surgery in 3 days... helpful, educational, and added peace of mind!

  • Been telling everyone about this product I was turned on to. Its called Supercissus Rx by USP Labs. Helped me with the pain and I didn't even get surgery though I do have a tear. Worked better than the anti-inflammatory the Dr. prescribed. For those that have had surgery this may help a lot. Try it.

  • How much for this kind of surgery?

  • $0 in Canada

    :D

  • yeah, but wait two years to have it done by a sub-par doctor from Jamaica who wants to immigrate to Canada.

All of Canada's doctors get their licence and move to the U.S.A.

  • @cheffie46 Lols. If you honestly had to wait 2 years to get your shoulder fixed your a sucker for putting up with it!! "A sub-par jamaican docter", "All Canada's doctors go to the states"? I think you americans are born to be racist against anything non-white. Let me guess, you live in one of the states that thinks incest is 100% okay!

  • I had this done like 8 years ago am actually going back to have same shoulder looked at.... :( guess it comes with age....

  • what's all that white stuff that's looks like cotton?..Thanks.

  • I had this procedure done and 4 months into P/T I still can't raise my arm above my head. healing is very slow.

  • Let me know in what town and state you live and maybe I can help you find somebody good to check you out.

  • I don't see how the heck they can see what's going on in there! These surgeons are amazing... professional.

  • i ripped my cuffs apart doing benches..they're bloody killing me..

  • Benching with your shoulder blades pinched tightly together and chest puffed out takes the shoulders out of it and may prevent that.

  • Im getting this done soon, meh.

  • I'm having this done in two weeks. Watching this was sort of therapeutic..thanks.

  • i had the same operation after dislocating my shoulder 6 times

  • Excellent video. Shows the skill of the physician performing. TPS

  • Incredible the accuracy of the procedure. Hard to imagine that this could be done. Thumbs up for the doctor performing the procedure. MAP
