  • @kurtnfredrickson na, never went... want to though

  • @bolatluver29 have you seen the movie the fourth kind ? that will make you not want to go to nome!! LOL

  • @JeepinDG yeah i did... but they didnt remember what happened to em

  • how much gold can you find a day?

how much does it cost to rent the beach plot and equipment?

    do you need a permit?

  • Could you go solo on the GPAA claim? Any place to camp for a few weeks?

  • aways wainted to go

  • What's stopping big companies from mining there?

  • Kinda think you may have been throwing out a bit of gold when you where taking the magnetite out of the mattings, does happen fairly easily..

  • @GreywolfMiner

All the magnetite was put in another bucket and I did get quite a bit of gold from it after I ran it through the cleanup sluice.

  • @GreywolfMiner Hey I was thinking about building a dredger and going up there? was wondering if I could get some advice from you. Ill pay you for the advice :)

  • kurtnfredrickson: Their gold reacts magnet? photo 21 seconds

  • @eggseder

Gold does not stick to magnets. Magnets take the iron out to make collecting gold easier.

  • you where at west beach

  • Nome is on my bucket list. I would worry about dumping gold along with the magnetites? I'd love to know more about the rules of beach boxing. And what you have to do to dredge in the sea?

  • @carolinatinpan

The ocean is claimed up. The beach for the most part is fair game. The Nome visitors bureau has more specifics.

  • There is limited gold I hear directly on the beach at Crescent City (Ca/OR border) deposited from the Smith River--probably very much iike that of your Yukon River and Nome. I suppose this method would work at any beach that was wide and sandy. (there are also places along the Northern coast of WA I have read--but less concentrated. Thanks for the video!

  • I was there for three weeks during the same month. This revives the memory nicely. - SlowDown

  • There really isn't one beach sluice design out there. I like the Amgus MacKirk sluices as they catch very fine gold. I've never tried one on a beach though. Anything with ribbed rubber matting and no riffles will work. A good magnet is a must to constantly clean black sand. Good luck.

  • hey kurt great videos im intrested in the sands and just wanted to know what would be the best setup sluice for beach sand?

  • just got back after 3 weeks, learned a lot got some, weather was bad for most of the first 2 wks, but cleared the last and was beautiful and maybe got near an ounce, didn't have to share partner wanted to see the sights. Only used magnet on moss, sometimes but rarley on mat. Saved all my black sand. sent back about 80# of concentrate won't know final total for a while.

  • Sounds good. You must have had a good spot on the beach. We pulls probably 2pw in 5 days. Not bad. Then I went upriver to work a dredge.

  • nice vid but you sould save your black sands for further prossesing.

  • Kurt, great video series there and I love this Nome episode especially. Would be interested to know if you can pan on any beach or if laws prohibit it. Seems like the area away from town is sparsely populated, so who would care? Any info would be useful as I'm thinking of striking out this summer to try my hand in Alaska.

  • The nome city website says where you can pan. Much of the beach is public access.

  • rated 5 stars!

  • you looking for gold go to nome, alaska i was borned and raised there dad used to work at B.O.T he played in the band.

  • Nice. Is there gold still left though the coast used to be popular place among the golddiggers?

  • There is a lot of gold left all over. Don't let anyone tell you different. The beaches in Nome are replenished every year when winter storms blow in. Although it was heavily mined at the turn of the century, it has had 100 years to accumulate. I say people do incredibly well in a day. It all depends on location.

  • The tremendous volume of the earth and constant weathering and movement of sand and gravel in streams and especial the beaches makes in impossible to get all the gold.

You work the concentrations and then next big flood or waves etc will redistribute things and over time re-concentrate. No one works the low grade stuff with little in it but mother nature does and she will concentrate it down to where it makes sense for you!

There's even gold (mostly gems) in east.
