  • The music in the background sounds like ParagonX9

  • Hey, wouldn't it have also been good to mention clicking "Do Clipping" on the mirror modifier?

  • anyone who wants the picture I've redrawn it, it's almost the exact same, if you'd like it send me your email in a private message with your email and ask for the picture.

  • im here to tell you that this dose not work on the newest version thats why i got 2.4b i suggest other noobs do to its simpler

  • @tet0s4brawl This might be a late Reply, what version of Blender are you using? 2.6 right? Or above 2.5?

  • @masterapmark 2.5.2 and it is kinda late because i lost most interest in actualy using it but not to late cus i still have the problem.....might try to use it again if i get an answer ^^

  • the best tutorial iv seen since i downloaded blender :D

  • I love these tutorials ^w^

but Im having a slight issue, I cant see the background image...Im using v2.49a on a 2003 XP, and Ive never had this problem before until now. I had to do a full system restore about 6 months ago and I had Blender on it before then and the background image loaded fine. Any help with this issue would be nice ^w^

  • @kilala1148 Might be a late reply, make sure you are in the right view mode, Front view I guess, and make sure your background image settings are correct.

  • @masterapmark I should have posted this a while ago, I fixed the problem. I had to do a system restore and re-download some sytem components {old computer =.=}, thank you anyway ^w^

  • I'm curious about making worlds with blender, do you know of any clear-cut resources on that subject?

  • So far your tutorials have been immensly helpful understanding this program.

  • how can you draw blueprints for characters? I need to know cause i always get wrong proportions...

  • how do you accurately draw those reference images?

  • Will I get the same result if I extrude faces instead of edges?

  • can u upload the drawing?

  • why do you sound like tom hanks?

  • what version are you using?

  • Hey do you think you can give a link to one of your blue-print background?

I would like to try to make the samus model.

  • I never thought of that style of concept art. That makes sense. Modeling my own personal character will be smooth now.

  • Can you please post your samus image so I can practice this?

  • The wireframe background image you use, to be clear. =)

  • ive got the 2.5 version and if i click on view there is no button for "background image"

if u have any idea, plz help me

    thx^^

  • @Kakutachi Go to Edit mode then click View > Properties or Press N then scroll down.. and you will see the "Background Image" button..

  • @Kakutachi Click view, properties, look for background images, check the box, click the triangle beside it, then a folder icon must be clicked then find ur file. after that do to your desired view, either press 1 or 3 on your num pad. after that click 5 on your num pad. the image should appear.

  • how do you zoom in on other parts of the screen

  • hey i try working with blender but i have a problem

when i place the picture and i change the vieuw of the model

the picture just dissapear. and i dont know how to get it back :s

hope someone can help (sorry my english isnt good ^^)

  • i cant seem to get this down, been playing around with my model for hours and hours and cant get it looking good at all. =(

  • So I'm going to answer my own question, I ended up accidentally finding this, if you press z I guess it locks it so you can't separate them :P

  • Another question, so I started doing your samus model and im at about 5 minutes in and im watching you extrude and move your vertices, but your able to keep everything exactly straight down the middle, so it doesn't separate the mirror image, is there a quick key to make sure the line is straight or do you you have to spend hours making sure each line is perfectly straight.

  • Um I'm really confused D: When you're modeling the shapes for your character, the other side you duplicated (the one on side view) has blocks as well, like it's an actual body. My screen on front view has the body block things, but the side view one doesn't D: Only one of them does, and that's the first block I made :( What Now?

  • You make really good tutorials. Thank you so much. Others are just... bad. :D

  • the music link doesnt work!

  • Realy great tutprials! And I love the retro music ^^

  • question. How do you reset the 3d cursor to origin point

  • Peter, the "how to" reset the 3d Cursor hot key is not shown at 4:26. To anyone who's wandering how "how to" press Shift+C. It resets the 3d Cursor to 0'0'0, and also adjust camera to show all present objects.

  • For anyone still wondering about the At First and At Last Option for the merge tool you right click the vertice and press (alt) m :)

  • do i have to draw the picture by my slef? o.O

  • To close the hole you have to select the 4 verteces and press F (the face tool) to make a new face :D

  • where did you get that reference picture

  • I really need to know how you closed up that hole in the bottom, because I seriously can't figure that one out. All I saw was the cutter tool and then... something magical that closed up the hole in the bottom.

    What did you do?

    What did he do?

    How do I do that?

  • Could you please tell us what commands we have to use to fill up the bottom? Because it isn't really clear right now, and the bottom looks silly with the hole in it :P

This tutorial is great besides that, though!

  • ok, my question is gone :D find out xD

  • very nice tut's, i like your lowpolygon charakters, but a question, how i close the hole at the bottom? cut it in the middle and than..?

  • metroid :3 great taste iin games and great tutorial thankyou so much!

  • For some reason when i try to load a reference picture it dosen't come up on the screen btw its a jpg file, help me :(

  • @NightlyVamp006 doesn't matter, so long that it's an image file. .jpg, .gif, .png, etc.

  • lovin the music. great tut.!!

  • not understand this part: 6:37

    which command you use?

    please! :D sorry bad english

  • Now it's deleting vertices on both sides...

  • I'm sorry, but is there a step I missed? I'm following yours, word for word, but when I go to move my box (to start shaping it) I have to move each little corner... NOTHING like yours... what's going on? D:

  • tutorial 5/5

music 1/5 please pull this music out of your tut :D then its really great!

  • If you want the screen to be split whenever you open Blender, open a new file, split the view and hit CTRL+U to save it.

  • Great tutorial, thanks.

Just a little tip... select "Do Clipping" on the mirror modifier, this way the center vertices do not leave the center and you don't need to worry again with scaling the mesh. I don't know if I explained it well, my english is not very good, just try it to see what it really do ;)

  • Argh, blender is a pain in the back using my laptop. It doesn't have a numpad, so some of the keyboard shortcuts are gone, and there's no mousewheel for convenient zoom.

Nonetheless these are proving to be super useful.

  • goto: user preferences/system & OpenGL/ Emulate Keyboard. This switches those number buttons to view presets instead of layers :) I think I'd shoot myself trying to use my laptop without a mouse for anything haha I know what you mean

  • Hey, thanks!

  • For some reason when I press (alt) m, the options "At First" and "At Last" don't come up? D:

Do you have any idea what I did wrong?

  • You may have been using the box select (b) or brush select (b,b) to select the vertices so they don't have a selection order. Try selecting them one by one instead.

  • What I do is use the box or brush select to get most of the vertices I need, then select the last one with shift-Rclick. That's good enough to get the "at last" option to work.

  • @decimaeodem thanks, you saved my ass

  • @HaziMonster I know this was from a long time ago but anyone had this issue in the future make sure your mouse is over the 3d view.

  • YAY
