That ending is the greatest ever! Thank you. Too bad the Flyers are such tight asses about retiring numbers, him and Kerr should be retired. Those 80's teams were probably the second best group ever.
@stinkfinger630 Dave Brown? I think Tocchet was one tough guy, but Brown would have murdered him. He was the toughest in the NHL and if he lost to you once, you better watch out because he would get ya....cross check to the face if he had to send a msg.
Ah, the 80s, those were the days. The Flyers were always pretty good back then, and Tocchet was awesome. He could skate, shoot, throw checks, play defense, kill penalties, and fuck people up. What more could you ask for?
The fact that there are haters tells you he was good.
yeah, like I said, when they were not looking, neely had class.. when tocchett was asst. coach he told his players dont wait till the other gut is ready,,just start throwing em,,whatch the chynowth fight,,tocchetts getting his ass kicked and he eye gouges dean, ,put him out for 7 games,,I will take 1 neely over 10 tocchetts.

tocchett was a dirtbag who jumped everyone when they were not ready he would not give his opponent a chance,,total snake, he suckerpunches,,headbutts,,eye gouges,,buttends,,absolutly no class..
Yeah man. They actually had the same thing going in Philly. Dave Brown, Behn Wilson, and Darryl Stanley were part of the Philly Bruise Brothers, and they had t-shirts for it too.
funny....i considered Tocchet to be a goal scorer, i knew he dropped the gloves but man oh man.....this guy is awesome......every NHL team needs about 8 guys like this.
Keep your mouth shut so you can't fit your foot in it. Rick Tocchet is the man, forever. Played the game with heart and soul. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember in the mid 80's my father got me a Tocchet jersey from the flyers. He is definatly a broad street bully. When he was with Philly we were proud to see him beat someones ass. Him and Hextall were beasts.
Scores 48 Goals with 252 PIM's and 109 points in one season!!!! Over 8 seasons with 20 or more goals!! How does Neely get in the Hall of Fame and not Rick????? This guy was the best of the best! Scores Goals, Team Canada, All-Star, Fights, Stanley Cup Champion! Put him in the Hall NOW!!!
@2222buster2222 Let's address that intelligently. Rick never scored 50 goals, while Cam did it 3 times! Tocchet's best year was when he netted 48, when he played with Lemieux! Neely was playing with Craig Janney! (He got Oates after his severe thigh injury)
Neely was a better hitter than Tocchet, and Rick was a slightly better fighter. Neely averaged .54 goals per game while Rick was .38 per game. My conclusion is both should make the hall, but Neely was better!
@BoSoxnation1972 ... Tocchet in the Hall isn't a slight to Neely as Cam was great. Merely a comparison. Since both players were drafted in 1983 lets compare. When a player get's in the Hall of Fame they always show his total's Take Neely's Boston career which is why he is in the Hall (1986 to 1995) and compare to Rick from 86 to 95 ... Cam has 344 G, 246A = 590 pts. & 921 pims - Rick 266G, 291A =557pts & 1904pims! Rick wasn't on the ice for 983 mins those years. 33pt difference! Should be in
@2222buster2222 Your comparison is hugely flawed as Neely's numbers were put up in FAR FEWER games! Neely missed 270 games during that stretch! Tocchet missed 166 games. That means that Rick played 104 more games, more than ENTIRE NHL SEASON'S WORTH, just to finish 33 points behind Cam. Not to mention that 5 of those 10 years, Cam was playing on 1 leg even when he was playing!
Rick had 1 flukishly great year playing with Mario where he put up 109 points. That year, Cam only played 13 games!
@2222buster2222 Again, I agree Tocchet should be in the Hall of Fame, but don't try and put his numbers up next to Cam's without pointing out Tocchet played more games during that period...a LOT more.
A Philly finest. Rich Tocchet was all Heart. One of the all around best to ever play the game. I watched him play many times at the Spectrum, Great times. Hats off to ya Rick.
@CheesesteakFO wanted to thumbs up yr comment & clicked thumbs down by mistake. oops. #22 was on my second ever flyers jersey(26 propp was my first). i'm a hardcore flyer from, brace yourself, montreal. needless to say, i've had to bring out my tocchet side a few times, especially the past 3 seasons. FLYERS 4EVER!!!!!!!!! (&fuck the habs!)
I would take Rick Tocchet on my team any time! He could score great goals, and he did, could hit hard..well anything and he could fight ANYBODY, he was the ultimate power foward in the game of hockey.
Sorry, but Cam Neely was tougher...just ask Rick. In that fight in this video, Cam had been hit in the eye with a puck in the first period and left to get stitches. Rick realized that and when he reopened the cut, he taps Neely on the back and said "we're done, good fight." Tocchet was a great player though.
Beg to differ,Toccet was pound for pound the best,Neely wasn't to keen on ever having a rematchnor Clark for that matter.Toccet came into the league at180 lbs,Neely at 205,like Probert,Neely was a heavy weight.Toccet and Clark,Light heavy's.Toccet was only player in history to have 300 Pims and 30 goals,400 Pims and 40 goals.Hats off to Cam,gotta luv him!But nobody did it better than Ricky!!!!!!!!!
