  • Teddy had raw sex appeal....just makes you keep watching and listening to him....Im in trance while watching his stage presence....I just got one thing to say ladies.....go check yo drawls.....lol

  • My last name is very close to Teddy's, and in fact I believe when my family came to America from Ireland it was actually Pendergrass

  • "The '70s. Almost, big big bullshit." Jeff Buckley

We have Teddy Pendergrass to thank for stalling Buckley in that quote. Teddy Bear was the shit.

  • GREAT VOICE!!!

  • aaaahh i remember this amazing music still

  • ENTÃO SOMOS 2! TAMBÉM NASCI NA ÉPOCAA ERRADA....POIS CURTO DE MONTÃO ESTE TIPO DE SOM..

  • His voice sounds amazing here. This has to be the best vocal concert I've seen (granted I've only seen it on youtube).

  • This man rocked the stage. Most underrated soul legend ever, next to the ranks of Curtis Mayfield.

  • @Diamandus and Lou Rawls

  • I am 24 and I love old school music... They actually song about something, unlike music today..They dont make music like they use to...smh

  • How strange and very sad is it seeing someone able bodied and moving freely on screen when you know that just a few years later it would all be so cruely taken from him. The spinal cord might only be small, but damaged it has a HUGE affect. I very much hope this great man is at peace now

  • Teddy was sooooooooooooo hawt and sexy...i could have slurp up all that sweat off of him.wheewwwwwwwwwww

  • Thank you, Teddy! I know your singing with the angels...

  • I would like to say that this young man Died to soon The last time I seen him it just History and if you knew the people then you will really pay. A very many memories. I have seen them all of the countly just by coinidense I I wasin town watching them.

  • gr8

  • I had the good luck to be at the Teddy Pendergrass concert in Lake Tahoe in 79'. It was also my good luck for him to call me out of the audience to sing and get that infamous kiss! I was honored then as I am now. There will never be another like him! I have the CD of the concert to treasure forever....RIP Teddy.

  • @1GMommie OMG...I am a huge Teddy fan but unfortunately never got to see him in concert. I do have some concert DVDS and when it gets to the part where he sings to and then kisses the girl, I AM SO ENVIOUS!!!! So you were one of those girls, huh, lucky you...I am so jealous!! A memory to truly cherish. And yes, there will never be another like him. Love you Teddy!

  • @1GMommie OMG really i have that dvd, he called 3 ladies to sing for him, which one were you?? when i watched the dvd I wanted that to be me singing to him, but i was toddler then LOL

  • Wow!! Love me some Teddy...I think my favorite song by him is"It don't hurt now". Love all his music...I have alwayed loved him and his music. R.I.P. Teddy; your music will never be forgotten!!!

  • This one of the greatest songs ever made. I sang this song at the age of 10 and 11 growing up in Compton, as if I was a grown man who fully understood the concept. I crushed on young girls to this song. I swear!

  • Teddy was so smooth and sexxxy, if I recall he would have concerts no men allowed "women only" with guards posted!

  • You see, Teddy was sweating so bad it was all in his eyes and he could not continue. Also if you look closer, All the single ladies were in the groove. The women with their men, husbands and what not KNEW what time it was and so did Teddy. If ANYONE has ever been to a Teddy Pendergrass concert back in the day y'all know he brought all kind of sexxxy to the stage, he was not even playing. This performance is Soooooooooo toned down & still you can see the men in the audience is hella threatened.

  • short and sweet gm all smooches hun.

  • Beautiful and talented....I remember him well.

  • WHAT VOICE !!!!

  • teddy was fine as hell!!!

  • @chinchas2 lol!! what?

  • When somebody loves you back....

  • my only "dislike" is that its only 1:57 long!! My lawd my lawd he was a beautiful man!!

  • I feel so blessed to have lived during the 70's and also had the pleasure to see Mr. Pendergrass perform back in the summer of 1978 at the Kool Jazz Festival. This video brings back some great memories. RIP Teddy!!!

  • @killawest..lol..yea, u have missed it not being able to grow up on this music. i was 16 when this song was banging ("79) so...it has great memories for me.

  • I don't get how anyone DISLIKED this video...its pure love!

  • @sdv0018 it's only 14 people, that's not much, lol

  • no one else like him. so beautiful inside and out.

  • Pure genius....the best!

  • no other can duplicate this is the "MAN" Teddy............. period

  • teddy pendergrass!!!!!!! i love you forever

  • lovin in.. Lovin somebody... it does feel sooo good.

  • Teddy Pendergrass was so soulful, i wish he was singing this song to a none white audience. These white people look completely detached and out of touch with the live soulful music been performed. I guess this is apart of their culture.

  • @ederrick987 I think it's just these particular white people. Teddy was massive with the British white audience who really got it.

  • @ederrick987 I agree with @darrenlad I'm white and Teddy Pendergrass had a beautiful soulful voice. I'm also only 18 and love this type of music! It's not all about race and colour

  • Had that great raspy soulful voice...reminds me of David Ruffin, can't get much better than that man. Shame what happened to this man. James Ingram belongs in this group, comfortably IMO. Ingram may be the most under-rated singer of all time...

  • They just don't have entertainers like this anymore. Love me some Teddy... Thanks for the posting.

  • I was 20 years old when I heard Teddy in 1979. I was an instant fan and am to this very day. I'm just sad that Teddy is gone but we have his music which will always remind us what a magnificent talent we had here on earth. RIP Teddy.

  • hands down teddy live in 79 is one of the best dvd's i own. the music today doesn't even compare.

  • hands down teddy live in 79 is one of the best dvd's i own. no one can compare

  • Love this Man, been in love with him since I was 16, I'm 46 n still love him.

  • I would like to know what happen to the Teddy Bears

  • Teddy was Six foot four inches tall, built like an atlhlete and as graceful as a gezelle. Plus he had this incomparable powerful sensual voice. I saw him many times live; in fact my good friends Alfie Politt and Eddie Green were his musical directors at different times; both are highly accomplishe Philly pianists. The womwn went mad whenever Teddy sang these love songs. He used to have "Women Only" concerts and it would get real raunchy!

  • @TheViewFromSugarHill I soooooo wish I could have been to at least one of those concerts. I fell in love with Teddy when I was in high school. Still love him sooooo much n I'm, ha ha, a little older.

  • I have a ridiculous crush on this man..... I love to see a man that is secure enough to serenade a woman without adding in "now bend over and show me that thang" no matter what era... Spend some time telling me you love me and then Ill show you what I am working with... RIP MR. P!!!

  • Priceless talent.

  • at the end , he stops recording on his laptop

  • QUE MUSICA

  • ESO ES UN CLASICCO

  • HEY!!!!! I was born in 1979. I grew up listening to Teddy!!!! RIP Mr. Pendergrass!!!

  • Although born in the mid 80s (1985) I MISSED THE 70S

  • Now these guys knew what it was to love and they sang about it.Luuuuuuuuvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv it!

  • Teddy was such a special artist. No one can ever compare to him.

His talent comes along once in a lifetime. This is such wonderful music,

music today is so blatant, nasty, the videos are so x-rated. It is such a shame music like this Teddy's does not exist anymore. Teddy's the best

  • no special mic just pure voice

  • RIP Teddy :(

  • GOG BLESS TOU TEDDY!! R.I.P.

  • @elwin38 I MEAN GOD BLESS YOU

  • I just love him. . . .

  • this talent comes around once in a lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • listening to this i got tears in my eyes :')

  • He's so sexy..Does anyone know if the long "live" version of this song is on youtube..I couldn't find it, but this is one of my fav Teddy songs!!

  • Sooo handsome,and what a voice... love u teddy!!

  • Hello my name is vakano and i want yall to check out my new video

    Simply Put (um bluesing)

  • You were the king in your day. I am so sorry you had the unfortunate accident.

  • teddy was sooooooooo bad i really appreciate good music like this

  • Right when I was really getting into it, having all kinds of old memories flooding into my head... the clip cuts off.

You're wrong for that Biffstudd... just wrong...

  • sexy as hell natural a real man

  • What a SEXY man he was!!!

  • When he smiles i cant help but smile! That is a look of someone who is truly happy and his lyrics are so uplifting. well now he is in a better place and he has that smile on his face right now! :)

  • R.I.P.

  • This Song Makes Me Smile!

  • Can't get any better than this, Teddy rules!!!!

Music today is nothing like it was when I grew up in the 70's, 80's. Never will be again.

  • im 20 years old and love listening to this great music damn how i was born in the wrong era

  • @thekillawest

I'm 28 and I also think the same...!

  • @thekillawest

Take it from an "old head" (41 yrs old), soul & R&B was so good back in the late 70s that Teddy - as great as he was then - was just one of a plenty of good talent around. He was undoubtedly the best solo male artist of his time, but there was so much good African American music - the Commodores, Brick, BarKays, EWF, OJays, Stevie Wonder, Isleys, Enchantment, etc. - putting out hit album after hit album. Year after year.

That era is unfortunately forever gone.

  • You're right. Especially Enchantment. Gloria is one of my favorite R&B ballads. Stevie Wonder's peak was around Talking Book and Innervisions. Both are great song by song albums. As far as Teddy P, no one can replicate that voice.

  • @thekillawest ..I completely agree with you..I'm 25 y/o and I think I was born in the same era too...All I listen too is old school music

  • @thekillawest me too im 24 going on 25. i always say the same thing

  • @thekillawest i feel lije you bro

  • Comment removed

  • @thekillawest I'm almost 18 and it's a shame that most of the music we hear these days on the radio is fucking trash. I'm like how the fuck we go from where u must have talent to sing to now it's more the get rich quick scheme. That's why I have a cassette adapter for my mp3 so that I don't have to listen to wack ass songs.

  • @thekillawest too tru, who u know sounds this good in live concert...nowadays

  • @thekillawest nah u were born when u were suppose to be u just a good ear and appreciation for good musci

  • @thekillawest Yeah you were....

  • I love him, it seems that all the men with talent, beautiful voices who have touched my life are taken away (Luther vandross, Michael Jackson, now Teddy, I sure will be listening to their songs forever

  • Talkin' bout a 50 / 50 love

  • Awesome voice!

  • R.I.P. Teddy............

  • My favorite "'Teddy" song!!

  • I seen Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, was I was young lucky to be able to hang with some of them, they were cool guys to hang with. Too bad Teddy passed away, I enoy there music. Rest in peace Teddy,we miss U.

  • A hundred years from now people will still be playing Teddy's music as if it were brand new and fresh because Teddy's music is TIMELESS. R.I.P. Teddy. You certainly will be missed. God Bless my brother.

  • He sings so good singing. He had a sexy walk too. He did very well.

  • A True Soul Master!

I was only 19 when U sang these songs, But I remember it like it was yesterday.

    Love U Teddy!

  • So sad that we can't tellhow much we miss him RIP from Germany, Nuremberg! We will always keep your music alive

  • He just opened his mouth and pure vocal gold came out.

    RIP Teddy

  • My velvet teddy bear!! So good!! sang it baby!!

  • Another one gone too soon. Man, what is the "music world" coming to?

  • Thanks for a WONDERFUL SONG! You will be missed.

  • What a gorgeous specimen of masculinity! And what a voice. Just simply gifted. RIP big man.

  • He looked amazing.

  • RIP Teddy Bear the greatest

  • @melissav6, you are so right. Very few singers that can actually SANG, sing. This new generation of young singers can barely hold a note. Half the time they are whispering and you can't tell one from the other. Male or female.

  • R.I.P Teddy...love you!

  • RIP teddy...

  • God what a beautiful men

  • i love how back in the day you go on stage and sing and you just sing the song no crazy dancing or lights it was just about the music. he could of just dropped the mic and stepped off and got a standing ovation.

  • i been looking 4 this song in the long version can somebody love me back, and post it if you got it

  • This ICON is with the angel lol

  • RIP, Teddy :(

  • You Tube'ers: IF YOU KNOW THE WORDS TO THE SONG, DON'T BE AFRAID TO SING ALONG!

    RIP LADIES TEDDY BEAR!

  • i lovee how he singss.. & he doesn't closee his mouthh.. unlikeee most singers.

  • I agree with you latina you are absolutely right. Jaheim should do a tribute to him by singing his songs cause his voice was similiar to Teddy. He was a handsome man rest in peace brotha

  • R.I.P Teddy

  • This bra is for you Tebbybear ,I will always love you.J.ellis1025

  • I loved Teddy.

  • WE will miss you brother, rest on in the arms of God.

  • im1asshole..We still have Al Green. For my money, he is one of only a handful of artist I would even compare to Teddy. But Teddy was my man! I was dancing to "Bad Luck" and "Keep on Loving You" this morning while making breakfast.

  • R.I.P Teddy!

  • I rather be dead with Teddy, Marvin, Barry, Luther, & MJ and listening to their voices in heaven then be listening to pointless songs nowadays. R&B music is not how it used to be like before with true meaning and love. R.I.P. TEDDY BEAR ;-(

  • I wouldn't want to be dead, but hey I get your point, My question to you and other what in the Hell happen. Music is junk. Music today is Lady GaGA please.

  • i feel u!!!!

  • @LatinaSource check out Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings or anything from the Daptones label...maybe that will restore some faith...it ain't Teddy but it ain't shit

  • rip Teddy Pendergrass-

  • Yes, brother Pendergrass has gone on to his reward. I know he was ready. He was at the Cheyney graduation in 2008, and I did not even recognize him, in his wheelchair. There didn't seem to be any of the old Teddy left. Whatever the events and circumstances of his life were about, having it all and then losing it all, I'm sure that he grew tremendously in this life, and overcame a lot of shortcomings. God bless his soul on it's journey to our Source. He was a gift to us all. my God mother

  • Its a such a shame but he lived a great life and lived longer than anyone known in his condition for 30 years!! We love you Sir Pendergrass. May God have you sing for Him forever!! Thanks!

  • All the great ones of my time.. Michael, Barry, Luther, Marvin, and now Teddy are all gone. DAMN! Life's a BIITCH!

  • @im1asshole...I know. Its so sad that all the greats ones of our time are leaving too soon. All we have left is Stevie & Prince...I miss all of our great soldiers of yesteryear. RIP Teddy, MJ, Marvin, Luther, & Barry. GOD be with you on your journey to the other side...Amen.

  • Another great one has left us folks. RIP Teddy.

  • also in Germany we have dolefulness for Teddy! RIP

  • My mom was the biggest fan of his when I was growing up ,so I grew up listening to his musci. His music was so intimate and suggestive but not vulgar like today's artists. What a beautiful man with a powerful baritone voice. He had real talent and he will be missed.

  • Rest in Peace Teddy P.

  • The TeddyBear will bemissed. One of the great voices of all time. This song got many of us through to hold on to that right love. Thanks Teddy.

  • Teddy, dear: YOU had all love, all light.

Your beatifull voice will keep you alive.

Although you lived your last years on a chair, for me, you was always singing stand.

    from me, and from Brazil,

    LOVE TO YOU.
