  • Why not side by side?

  • Any subject closer than about 12 ft requires a smaller interoccular than the side-by-side camera position will allow for. Shooting close-ups with a side-by-side causes eye strain and bad 3D.

  • The 3D Film Factory sells them and can answer all your questions. Google them.

  • Can you tell us a bit about the mirror glasses to watch the side-by-side monitors? How do they work? Who sells them? Thank you for the concise information.

  • @BrandedChannels I was interested in this in this as well and I read on the internet that they make HDR video with a beam splitter as well. So I think so yes

  • Yes, our MINI Beam-splitter rig is used for HDR photography all the time. We sell and rent it. It's the most affordable rig anywhere. see us online - 3D Film Factory

  • Holy crap..... can this be done with Panasonic GH1s?

  • Yes it can. Do those cameras gen-lock. Always use gen-locked cameras to shoot 3D.

  • Great tutorial about the process, Thanks

  • that's really awesome. wish i had a nice rig.

  • Thanks for sharing this information. I've not had the chance to shoot with a split beam rig yet, only parallel. Seeing the rig in action is really helpful.
