  • I love u for upload this guide! now i will can collect all team dolls :)

  • At 01:04, it's the same noise the imps in Doom make when they get killed!

  • @bluelimosine Theres a few Heretic SFX in there too!

  • Those levels are different and easier than in PSX version...oh god, I want my childhood back, and I want Sega Saturn!

  • @QuatreFun actually its harder for lack of ammo

  • Lobotomy were masters at codeing 3d first person shooters for the saturn, along with this, duke nukem 3d & Quake, they really showed what the saturn was capable of when it came to 3d FPSs.The system was a 2d powerhouse compared to other consoles of the time but for people to say it couldn't do 3d like the PS is bullshit,it just took developers who knew how to scrape every last bit of power out of it & lobotomy done that better than most!

  • Great Game, Great Gamer! *__*

    I have this game! *__*

  • Recuerdo cuando jugaba Exhimed *.* Ami amigo le dolia la cabeza cuando lo jugabamos xD

Nunca pudimos encontrar las cabezas de los creadores :P

  • whoa the m60 sounds great here:)

  • Did this game use the quake engine?

  • Nope, it uses the Slavedriver engine.

  • @elbryan42 Sure? It wouldn't be BUILD ENGINE?

  • It's the Slavedriver engine for sure (it was made specifically for the console versions of Powerslave). The PC version uses the Build engine.

  • @elbryan42 Yes, you were right! I had a look on the internet and I saw about "SlaveDriver". Plus, looking at the way this game is rendered, clearly differs from BUILD. Bye.

  • @elbryan42 Is it just me or is the PC version rubbish compared to this one? I had the PC version but I never knew how awesome the PSX/Saturn versions are. I mean, listen to that freaking M-60 in the Saturn! Jon also actually moves like he means it (and he can JUMP!) in this version.

  • @SEEDSOFEXODUS So how is it worth a buy would you say?

  • @SEEDSOFEXODUS This definitely doesn't look like the Build engine

  • soundtrack of Exhumed was killer

  • If anyone thinks this should be remade for 360 and PS3(if they can program it), What company do you think should make it?

P.S. I own the PSX,PC and Saturn versions of this and by far the hardest is PC, Saturn is the best. oh and each one is different.

  • The Saturn version, as I can't see how it could have been any better ;-)

Not the PC version. They could have slapped another name on it and you wouldn't have noticed.

Can't comment on the PS version.

  • My main gripes with the Saturn version is the overall lack of ammo and the platforming (where when you're jumping on stuff, you happen to slip off 90% of the time).

When I played through the game, I had to restart the levels countless times for these reasons. Being reduced to the sword and falling into lava when you shouldn't really kills the fun factor.

  • I love this game, so much I ripped the soundtrack to my library. I remember completing (with all dolls) back when I was at school - very difficult, but very rewarding!

Nothing has come close to the atmosphere this game creates.

  • Ive had this game on PSX since i was like 5 but i live in america so my version is called powerslave im 14 now and i still cant beat it

  • I was planning on recreatng this game using the Unreal 3 Engine Developer Kit (which can be downloaded for free).

I just need a bit of time on my hands, which unfortunately I haven't got at the moment.

  • call me crazy.... but the framerate seems smoother on some saturn games than PS1 games

  • Reminds me of a more ethnic-flavoured Quake.

  • I prefer the PSX version, since it's very balanced and controls the best. The Saturn's great with better lighting effects, but some balance and platforming problems. And the PC version's pretty much a Duke 3D clone, with slower gameplay and almost no exploration aspects (so completely different game).

  • PC version requires you to have seperated ammo for guns than blue spheres right?

  • @elbryan42 Why does everyone confuse the little know psx only released in japan with the ps1?

  • Actually I don't think anyone knows about the japanese PSX system, so there's no confusion.

PSX is, however, the original acronym for the Playstation before the smaller white PSOne came out. So that's what I call the original Playstation is the PSX.

  • what memories... i played this on the saturn, ..pure awesome.

I don't think any game at the moment has the same type of enjoyment this game had... maybe bioshock... but not many really get u IN the game.

  • can anyone tell me, does this game contain any "where the fuck am I supposed to go/do?" moments like Metroid? From watching the gameplay it seems pretty cool, but I HATE games that have you wandering aimlessly with no idea where to go.

  • It's pretty self expanatory. There's alternate exits to levels, and they're pretty obvious. You just need the items to get to the exits.

  • this version is better than psx version =3

  • @invoke09 how so

this version has a lack of ammo which is more difficult

it is playable but it just seem the PSX version gives you more ammo and + slightly better controls since it has more buttons and could be even more playable if it uses the analog sticks

  • @invoke09 but im not just saying that just because im a sony fan im a big sega fan as well but im just saying that since half the FPS games on saturn are either terrible or not perfect and most FPS games on PSX are more playable (except hexen)

  • Ohh, i remind some moments in pleasure near the my old saturn, yes, and y remember another titles, for example, alien trilogy, but maybe this first is better, i tray to find a old saturn to replay this awesome game, great video.

  • Oh, damn you. Now I'm going to have to dig out my Saturn.

  • I cant quite remember, but wasn't there a part where you had to guide yourself through a sort of laser formation in that lava level near the end to get a secret (on Saturn version) maybe you needed vulture mode, it's been that many years I can't remember but I'm sure you couldn't get to it on PS. Also near the start of the game there's a secret above a large column that you can't reach on PS I think.

  • The laser puzzle is on the PSX, but it's blue ball launchers instead. You can get there with the Horus Feather, not just vulture mode.

As for secret areas, some are on one version, some on the other. Neither game has non-reachable secrets. Heck, some of the levels are totally different between the two.

You should check out my PSX Powerslave vids. It has every team doll (so, secret area) found, just like this Saturn run.

  • I had Saturn version, later I had PS version. I think Saturn was better but maybe it's just cos I'd completed that first. But wasn't there some secret areas you could't complete properly on PS that you could on Saturn?

  • I never came across secret areas I couldn't access. Maybe you mean the ones that you need vulture mode or dolphin mode to access?

  • I have the pc version and its fucking ace. I want this for xbox 360 arcade download. Some hard bits in this game. Loved the weapons and the way your hand appeared differently depending on how you died. Also rthe SON OF A BITCH! scream. Plus when you were turned into one of the staff zombie guys and used the staff to kill. I love these old school pixelated fps games...blood, duke-3d, doom, rise of the triad, hexen, heretic....

  • I agree. No current game has held my interest for as long at games like Doom, Hexen, and Powerslave did in their time. I still power up my Saturn to play Powerslave and even my Jaguar to play AvP.

  • I've brought this yesterday but i cant find the cheat code too use the analogue pad anywhere does anyone know it or know where i can find it (I've searched goggle and various cheat sites)

  • I don't think there is one. Jonof's control style is in Duke Nukem 3D and Quake only.

  • ok that'll explain why i cant find reference too it on the net. thanks for answering my question. i got doom as well but i can't remember if that used the analogue for walking or was that the port of hexen.

  • Does the UK version not use the analog controller?

  • Not that I know of, but from what I can tell, no version of Powerslave uses Jonof's control style. Up to my knowledge, it started with Duke Nukem 3D, and was used in Quake as well.

  • I googled Jonof control scheme and I found a site that mentioned Duke Nukem 3D but I couldn't find a description of the control scheme. I like to set the right trigger for fire and the Y and Z buttons for strafing on the analog controller to make the game feel a little more like a later FPS. Of course, with Alien Trilogy and Hexen I stick with the standard setup because those games don't support the analog controller.

  • I wanna play the saturn vesion again, Completed the psx version to many times.

Need to get myself another saturn. Saturn version pwns all.

  • If anyone thinks this should be remade for 360 and PS3(if they can program it), What company do you think should make it?

P.S. I own the PSX,PC and Saturn versions of this and by far the hardest is PC, Saturn is the best. oh and each one is different.

  • This is the best game for saturn ever!!! I think Cavern of Peril is the hardest level and I couldn't go on because there is a lot of enemies, some green poison and mummyes...

    PS.Sorry my bad english.

  • I´ve played both versions(sat/psx), and I think psx version is a lot more difficult. Some levels on psx are almost impossible to finish, due to the lack of ammo and excessive number of creatures and hazard materials. Still a great game, though.

  • Funny i always thought the saturn version was harder.

Well it's a nice challenge with nice lighting.

I never get bored of this game, I still playing it after 14-16 years.

  • What do you mean "both versions, sat/psx"? There were three versions I thought, the Saturn, the PSX and the PC version............

  • Sorry, could you upload the soundtrack of this game and the soundtrack of the first tomb rider (all tracks) to rapidshare or megaupload and send me the links to an email adress?.I know is a hard work, but Im really interested in the music of those games.

  • Sorry, my free time is limited. I tend to work 12 hour days everyday.

  • Very nice game,I remember when nearly every Saturn magazine prised this game when it was first released. It was a breath of fresh air for the Saturn,Because afterwards the Saturn received a *very awful* port of Doom. Overall i liked the Saturn Version. Thought the PSX is the overall better one

  • what about the PC version , how is it compared to the console versions?

  • I haven't played through it all yet, but basically it's a typical PC shooter. No real exploration aspect and no artifacts. You basically can do everything at the start, and you play the levels only once. There's a ton of levels though, but I can't say I'm enjoying it as much, but it's still a decent game.

  • Apparently this version is meant to look worse than the PSone. But it looks like it has better lighting. What do you think elbryan?

  • Saturn: Better lighting, sharper graphics, exclusive powerups, bomb jumping, Death Tank

PSX: More balanced powerups (fixing the lack of ammo), better designed levels, better control, more stable jumping, dolphin/vulture modes

Both are great, but the Saturn definitely looks more colorful and sharper. But the PSX plays better.

The the Slavedriver engine was made for teh Saturn so it runs better, but PSX version came out a few months later so it was tweaked more.

  • hi there gamers, does anyone know where I can get a PS1 copy of this game?

  • EBay's a pretty good bet.

  • i played this game non stop for ages and collected most dolls and most transmitter peices, i still love it today!

  • I only ever completed the PS version of this.

    I prefer the PS controller.

    I own both versions though.

  • Wow, other than the looks of the levels, I can very clearly see differences here (collected artifacts and transmitter pieces fade in at the select screen differently than the PSX version, boulders instead of fireballs at the canyon path to the two symbol doors).

  • The sound effects in this game sound very similer to Magic Carpet. ;)
