I love wranglers, and will probably get a unlimited in the near future. but it is so much bigger than the 2 door, i hope that i wont find it a pain in the ass to drive around town and to work, looks to me like parking would be difficult compared to 2 door wrangler.
@awesomedude467 I have had the top and doors off my JK 4door all weekend (power locks/windows and all). It's really easy to do, as Jeep has included a simple wiring harness plug on each door, as well as an easily removable door limiting strap. Takes me about 10 minutes or less to remove (or reinstall) all 4 doors.
Sweet! I just bought a Jeep Liberty KK. I thought about the Wrangler Unlimited, but the interior wasn't as "plush" as the KK (for my wife's tastes). However, I'm gonna trade in my other car and get the Unlimited. NIce looking and tough to boot!
@BOLDLYGO2007 did you look hard enough??? my 2011 wrangler has leather/heated seats .. power everything, sat radio, 7 speaker sound .. cruise, air .. thats not "plush" enough ???.. lol
why in europe motors choices are always better ?? here in amercia always big motor with no fuel economy and europe they have the 4cyl diesel on this truck

However, compare the torque, sorry I only have the metric units: 2.8 TD - 460/1800; 3.8 petrol - 315/4000. I rest my case. The diesel pulls stronger and at far lower RPM, at lower MPG.

@shane69999 because its a hobby and millions of people like to get out in there 4wd's to see what they can do. lets have a look at your video's of what you get upto in your spare time, oh it seems you have no video's and probably no life which is why you download other people's videos and cuss them.
@shane69999 hope i meet you on a flooded road with you crappy car stalled in the middle so i can remind you of your question as to why anyone would need a vehicle that can wade in 3ft of water. ive recently been reminding people of why i have a 4x4 by pulling them out of the snow , yes silly me for buying a 4x4.
In a month or two I suspect I'll be cashing in my 401k (because my job is being outsourced) and, thus, I'd like either a truck or a two door Jeep for fairly light off road activity. My hope is to get something that is very reliable and doesn't drink too much gas. Any thoughts regarding which type of vehicle I should get would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
P.S. Do car dealers knock a lot off the price if one tells them they'll pay in cash?:-)
@guyNbluejeans Try it. I'm sure they'll give you some kind of deal if you pay in cash. If you have the money, why not get the unlimited? I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra room.
@kbs1664 Thanks for the sound advice. I actually went to the local dealership (a 5 star outfit) and looked at Jeeps. And yes, that 4-door Wrangler is a beauty! I always thought 2-door vehicles were cooler, but seeing all that room in the 4-door model makes me want it over the other. The guy said it was about 2-grand more, making it around 30-g's. Hmm one thing I wonder about is I've read stuff that the 3.8 motors are weak but in a couple of years plans are for a better and newer motor. Thoughts?
I also wish these Jeeps got better milage. The salesman told me that for some strange reason all these new Jeeps get the same milage, 15/19. Those numbers kinda suck.
Another thing that I saw on one of the Jeeps that bothered me was that some of the insulation wasn't properly fitted into the door molding, making me wonder about quality control at Jeep. I would hate to think that similar sloppiness in areas not so easy to see was allowed to slide by.
#3..take a peek at the F-150s they had on the lot. I didn't talk to anyone because the weather was getting bad, but did at least get a glance at 'em. They look REALLY nice too, though the stated gas milage was a hair worse than the Jeep's. The Jeep seemed nicer from the standpoint that I could lay my 6'2" frame out in the back (with the seats down) and curl up a bit to sleep. I guess I'd be most interested in which vehicle is the most reliable since prices are about the same. Thanks 4 your time!
@guyNbluejeans You sound like me, I'm torn between an F150 platinum and a sahara unlimited. The quality ford puts into their vehicles are top notch and the reliability is definitley there. I drive a 2010 fusion AWD and I couldn't be happier. The fit and finish of the interior is amazing and the navigation is one of the best on the market. After driving the F150 and wrangler, I find the F150 to be far more comfortable and luxurious but the wrangler is a hell of a lot more fun to drive
@kbs1664 I may have to Google the Fusion since you say such good things about it and that it comes in AWD. Is AWD as good as what's on the Jeeps 4-wheel-drive? I'm guessing they're about equal, but then what do I know.
I want to buy American if possible just because now's a time to look after Americans and our jobs if ever there was a time!
@guyNbluejeans The fusion is a sports sedan, not sure if you'd be interested in a car? But if you would be, then yes the fusion is a great choice. Lots of power, good on gas considering it's awd and has many features. The awd is not the same as the jeep. It's a full time system meant for on road only. It does come in a hybrid so you could get 40+ mpg
@guyNbluejeans Also you have to look at price. An F150 XLT with chrome package costs as much as a fully loaded sahara. The wrangler is the better bang for your buck. I'm leaning towards the wrangler just cause it's more fun to drive. It'll also take me places the F150 can't. Not sure what your criteria is but for me I need a vehicle that's fun to drive, capable, and can perform in all weather conditions. Comfort and luxury is not a priority. Drive both and see what you like better
@kbs1664 Good advice. I'll be sure and test them both. With the Ford I could always get a shell on it, though the 4-door Jeep is so sweet with how it's set up. So you think the Wrangler is actually more bang for the buck? Interesting. I want something I can be comfortable in and go off road to camp and fish, as well as be super reliable and stay looking nice over the years. Either of these vehicles would suit me well in that regard I'm sure, though the gas.... Chrome isn't important to me.
@guyNbluejeans For what you're using it for a full size truck would be a bit over kill. The jeep is the perfect outdoor vehicle. Easy to clean as you can hose out the interior and you won't ever have to worry about getting stranded. I've researched and jeeps are very reliable, unless you're doing hardcore off roading and rock crawling. Jeep would be the better deal as like I said an XLT 4 door (base model) costs as much as a fully loaded sahara.
@kbs1664 Cool. Didn't know one can hose out the interior!
I just heard on the news that gas is going to soon go to $3 a gallon, yikes!
When I went to the Jeep dealer on Sat., he told me that the the 4-door Unlimited I could get for $30,000. But I was tired and didn't ask if he meant that would include everything out the door; thus what might you think...?
The more I think about the Jeep and the F-150, I lean towards the Jeep for fun and my needs, though the Ford is said to have a great motor
@guyNbluejeans You could get the unlimited for much cheaper than that, depends on what you options you want. There's actually quite a few options to choose from. I built mine on the website and took a print out to the dealer.
The jeep definitley has the fun factor. Driving experience is unlike any other vehicle, plus it's probably the most practical vehicle on the market. Nothing wrong with F150 either. Both are a great choice. Have you driven either yet?
@kbs1664 Thanks for the friendly reply! Gotta go to work in a minute but just want to say that no, I didn't drive either. The Jeep guy asked me if I wanted to take it around the block but I was tired and declined. It's totally cool to see what this Jeep in the vid did, made it look easy. I want to blow my 401k $ when my company lets me go in a month or 2 but will lose a lot in taxes and early penalty withdrawal. If I can somehow get one I'll take it over the truck, I think.:-)
@guyNbluejeans One more thing. The f150 will get a 3.5 v6 twin turbo that'll be great on gas and more power than the V8. You should look into it if you want an F150. The engine comes out sometime in 2011.
@guyNbluejeans I looked into it and the 3.5 will only cost an extra $1000. Not too bad! Ford hasn't released mpg ratings yet but according to a forum user who went to a ford driving event and tested the 3.5 said the display showed 18 mpg on the road course they had setup.
@guyNbluejeans I just remembered the GMC sierra and chevy silverado are available in a hybrid. If you want a truck and good gas mileage, this would be the perfect choice. 23 mpg. I haven't looked at pricing but I'm guessing it will be priced higher than the F150.
@guyNbluejeans The mileage does suck! It's one of the reasons I'm waiting for the new engine to come out. Being as weak as it is with the bad mileage, the current wrangler is not worth it in my opinion. That's odd about the insualation. The wranglers I've checked out so far have been fine but maybe I'll take a closer look next time
@guyNbluejeans for 2012 the new 3.6 is coming out. Same engine is the grand cherokee. Should have around 290 hp and 270 tq with about %20 better gas mileage. Big improvement. As far as I know price stays the same.
@kbs1664 It's tempting to want to hold off until the new engines are dropped in, but I could drop dead any day now considering I'm gonna be 56 this month. However, IF my company let's us keep our jobs, which seems like less than a 40% chance of that happening, then I could hold off because I learned that the government will take a 30% slice of my 401K if I cash it in before turning 59.5 years of age. (A rip-off that they should get a dime!)
@macman1138 euhh no dude..it will not outlast a toyota and it certainly isnt better built and old land rovers mostly were horrible because of british leland which ruined everything including the original range rover.now its reliable 20 years ago it wasnt
@nielslernou No sir you are wrong there. The Land Rover has become and is geared for those with money that don't dare take their vehicles and the Toyotas simply isn't as capable or durable as the Wrangler.
Furthermore, nothing has a following worldwide as Jeep (the only thing I would by from Chrysler).
I would, however, love to have one of those old Range Rovers. They last forever and easy to fix out in the wild.
Also I believe that a Wrangler-based pick up would sell really well.
@macman1138 euh you do know that in every place that can't be reached by humans people get there with a toyota land cruiser.a jeep wont get as far as a landcruiser and i respect the range rover because its an offroader but extremely comfortable it drives like a saloon and euh the owner of a sandwichbar recently sold his old range rover because it never worked properly and it could not get fixed thats why british leyland was scrap sadly because i adore the looks of the original rangie
Nice video. A tip...keep your lights off if you're water crossing like that. They heat up throughout the day and will crack when the water cools them quickly.
I now own an islander unlimited and its awesome only complaint is slow as hell put a cold air intake spacer and e3 spark plugs in with granatelli wires and kns nice pickup and way better gas milage!!
Jeeps are pussy now! The ruined them! If you want get a TJ or later. If you wana really ofroad one of these get a new engine and everything then you can. Stock you cant do shit! You can hear him in the video bottoming out over rocks no bigger than a foot. Jeep go back to the TJ look!
now i had not otten to take a vehicleoff road, i have with mountain bikes, and im not much a jeep fan, more land rover, (i have 1) but this seems to be fun, and thats a nice jeep, and how u guys shot the video, it came out good, wish there was more to the video, keep on making them.
@TheFantaguy1 not tryig to argue, but the army dont use the jeeps anymore, humvees, various vehicles, and they also use the land rover defenders (not in the u.s.) they used to use the jeep willey's, but not anymore. if they do, please show me proof, cuz i would not mind seeing them in action lol :)
Basically takes away the short wheel base from a jeep wrangler which is what made wranglers so superior off roading over other 4x4s. Great job Chrysler, i'm assuming this wrangler unlimited has plenty of room for groceries and baby seats?
great vid, my dad picked one out for fathers day and we picked it up today, he got the sport in Tango Mango Orange fully loaded, it's sick and it came with 33 AT's (Falken's) and some sweet rims, I look forward to when we take it to the trail
@slayakidps3 As long as the distributor is sealed up, you have good differential and axle vents, and your air intake is up high, there is no problem. Just go in slow then keep it steady through the water crossing.
@slayakidps3 nope. The only problems you'll run into is if your seals are leaky and water gets in (but in that case, you'll also see oil on your driveway etc). The main thing you have to worry about is water getting into the air intake. Most Jeeps come stock with a mini 'snorkel' in that the intake is a funneled tube pointed upward. Your stock Jeep should be fine in just under 2 feet of water. If water gets into your interior, that's what the drain plugs on the floor are for!
@nikki27673 Yeah i'll be getting it as my first car as well I think. Looking at a 2000 model TJ Sport and they run about $10,000AUD. Hopefully it's pretty good for running around the city still, and doesn't handle like a truck as some people say!
Well, the stereo is nice. It has really really crappy heating. I mean terrible. My wife says she gets in it and it stays freezeing cold all the way down the highway for twenty minutes before getting reasonably warm. I can confirm that it is VERY poorly designed for winter. There is no insulation in the hard top at all. If the AC is just as poor ... I'll go back to the dealership in June and get a Liberty again. The Libetry was much nicer in all creature comforts.
I took delivery of a 2010 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited X in Nov. It has been a love hate relationship really. The thing handles like a truck and uses more gas than you can imagine. It is terrible in snow and so I put Yokohama Geolander snow tires on it. When I tried to drive it in more than a foot of snow it would dig itself in and get stuck. I had to rock back and forth and then really hammer the gas hard to get up a snowy hill. Not impressed at all. So I gave it to my wife to drive to work.
I aboslutely love these cars. But being in aussie land and on my green P it will attract alot of attention..
I would love a new 5door 2010 Rubicon in rescue green but i can't see it as my only car.. driving to uni and around town in it would be a bit embarasing lol. Would only really work as a second car.. but i can only afford one. The 2 door ones would be alrite around town cause they are mini and with the top on don't look to odd.
cause it is not a common car in Aus. The P plates will draw attention to it and seeing these around the city is just weird where people usualy drive small cars.
Thanks guys. I am really considering Jeep Wrangler 4 door 2010 . Does anyone know what are the major differences between wrangler sport and sahara sport . And how reliable jeep wrangler are. I am first time buyer and wanted jeep for quite sometime now.
I really want a jeep ,took it test driving. But everyone i talked to say its a good second vehicle. Unfortunately i am planning to keep only one. I am still thinking of buying one. Just there is question of reliabilty keeps me away. One reason i am buying new one is i dont want any problems in first few years.
@ourunitedworld dude jeep wranglers are where its at and they are very reliable vehicles i have 4 wheeled the crap out of mine dents scratches i put it through a beating and no mechanical problems
@ourunitedworld for about 3 years now i got the 06 tj six speed 4.0 liter inline six it has 60 of the hardest must grueling miles on a it and it still keeps going
I want that in my life

@guyNbluejeans For what you're using it for a full size truck would be a bit over kill. The jeep is the perfect outdoor vehicle. Easy to clean as you can hose out the interior and you won't ever have to worry about getting stranded. I've researched and jeeps are very reliable, unless you're doing hardcore off roading and rock crawling. Jeep would be the better deal as like I said an XLT 4 door (base model) costs as much as a fully loaded sahara.
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 Cool. Didn't know one can hose out the interior!
I just heard on the news that gas is going to soon go to $3 a gallon, yikes!
When I went to the Jeep dealer on Sat., he told me that the the 4-door Unlimited I could get for $30,000. But I was tired and didn't ask if he meant that would include everything out the door; thus what might you think...?
The more I think about the Jeep and the F-150, I lean towards the Jeep for fun and my needs, though the Ford is said to have a great motor
guyNbluejeans 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans You could get the unlimited for much cheaper than that, depends on what you options you want. There's actually quite a few options to choose from. I built mine on the website and took a print out to the dealer.
The jeep definitley has the fun factor. Driving experience is unlike any other vehicle, plus it's probably the most practical vehicle on the market. Nothing wrong with F150 either. Both are a great choice. Have you driven either yet?
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 Thanks for the friendly reply! Gotta go to work in a minute but just want to say that no, I didn't drive either. The Jeep guy asked me if I wanted to take it around the block but I was tired and declined. It's totally cool to see what this Jeep in the vid did, made it look easy. I want to blow my 401k $ when my company lets me go in a month or 2 but will lose a lot in taxes and early penalty withdrawal. If I can somehow get one I'll take it over the truck, I think.:-)
Must go, thanks!!
guyNbluejeans 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans no problem!
kbs1664 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans One more thing. The f150 will get a 3.5 v6 twin turbo that'll be great on gas and more power than the V8. You should look into it if you want an F150. The engine comes out sometime in 2011.
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 Wow. Any idea how much for one with a few extras? I'll Google it and see what's up with it. Thanks for the heads up!:-)
guyNbluejeans 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans I looked into it and the 3.5 will only cost an extra $1000. Not too bad! Ford hasn't released mpg ratings yet but according to a forum user who went to a ford driving event and tested the 3.5 said the display showed 18 mpg on the road course they had setup.
kbs1664 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans I just remembered the GMC sierra and chevy silverado are available in a hybrid. If you want a truck and good gas mileage, this would be the perfect choice. 23 mpg. I haven't looked at pricing but I'm guessing it will be priced higher than the F150.
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 Sounds like too much dough, these hybreds.
guyNbluejeans 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans The mileage does suck! It's one of the reasons I'm waiting for the new engine to come out. Being as weak as it is with the bad mileage, the current wrangler is not worth it in my opinion. That's odd about the insualation. The wranglers I've checked out so far have been fine but maybe I'll take a closer look next time
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 It would be so sweet if these things got like 40 mpg. Lol.
Yeah; it sure is a shame they can't just get the new engines in and be done with it.:-(
guyNbluejeans 1 year ago
@guyNbluejeans for 2012 the new 3.6 is coming out. Same engine is the grand cherokee. Should have around 290 hp and 270 tq with about %20 better gas mileage. Big improvement. As far as I know price stays the same.
kbs1664 1 year ago
@kbs1664 It's tempting to want to hold off until the new engines are dropped in, but I could drop dead any day now considering I'm gonna be 56 this month. However, IF my company let's us keep our jobs, which seems like less than a 40% chance of that happening, then I could hold off because I learned that the government will take a 30% slice of my 401K if I cash it in before turning 59.5 years of age. (A rip-off that they should get a dime!)

@guyNbluejeans 56 is still young! My dad is much older and he rides his harley every day in the summer.

Excuse me, I often confuse Range Rover with the Land Rover.
But for give me too, for I am a Jeep man and that is what I love dearly.
Those old Range Rovers will last forever and I see the Land Rover as over priced and over rated. But that's just me.
Also, I can't for the life of me seeing anyone getting a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee off road as they would a 2011 Wrangler.
As for the Toyota versus the Jeep, I simply like the Jeep better, feeling it's better built and will outlast the Toyota.
macman1138 1 year ago
@macman1138 euhh no dude..it will not outlast a toyota and it certainly isnt better built and old land rovers mostly were horrible because of british leland which ruined everything including the original range rover.now its reliable 20 years ago it wasnt
nielslernou 1 year ago
You won't see a BMW, Range Rover, Toyota FJ or a Mercedes doing that off road like that.
Only in a Jeep!
macman1138 1 year ago
@macman1138 i do believe a toyoyta land cruiser or a range rover could do just as good or maybe better but still the jeep isnt a bad offroader
nielslernou 1 year ago
@nielslernou No sir you are wrong there. The Land Rover has become and is geared for those with money that don't dare take their vehicles and the Toyotas simply isn't as capable or durable as the Wrangler.
Furthermore, nothing has a following worldwide as Jeep (the only thing I would by from Chrysler).
I would, however, love to have one of those old Range Rovers. They last forever and easy to fix out in the wild.
Also I believe that a Wrangler-based pick up would sell really well.
macman1138 1 year ago
@macman1138 euh you do know that in every place that can't be reached by humans people get there with a toyota land cruiser.a jeep wont get as far as a landcruiser and i respect the range rover because its an offroader but extremely comfortable it drives like a saloon and euh the owner of a sandwichbar recently sold his old range rover because it never worked properly and it could not get fixed thats why british leyland was scrap sadly because i adore the looks of the original rangie

Great job Chrysler, i'm assuming this wrangler unlimited has plenty of room for groceries and baby seats?

i got a jeep myself, but how can it go through that deep of water? wouldnt the engine or transmission go out??
slayakidps3 1 year ago
@slayakidps3 As long as the distributor is sealed up, you have good differential and axle vents, and your air intake is up high, there is no problem. Just go in slow then keep it steady through the water crossing.
SuspectD3vice 1 year ago
@slayakidps3 nope. The only problems you'll run into is if your seals are leaky and water gets in (but in that case, you'll also see oil on your driveway etc). The main thing you have to worry about is water getting into the air intake. Most Jeeps come stock with a mini 'snorkel' in that the intake is a funneled tube pointed upward. Your stock Jeep should be fine in just under 2 feet of water. If water gets into your interior, that's what the drain plugs on the floor are for!

nikki27673 1 year ago
@nikki27673 Yeah i'll be getting it as my first car as well I think. Looking at a 2000 model TJ Sport and they run about $10,000AUD. Hopefully it's pretty good for running around the city still, and doesn't handle like a truck as some people say!
koryan 1 year ago
@nikki27673 my advice would be to wave at all the jeeps that pass you and to make sure you get it dirty lol.
mattbjrs 1 year ago
Well, the stereo is nice. It has really really crappy heating. I mean terrible. My wife says she gets in it and it stays freezeing cold all the way down the highway for twenty minutes before getting reasonably warm. I can confirm that it is VERY poorly designed for winter. There is no insulation in the hard top at all. If the AC is just as poor ... I'll go back to the dealership in June and get a Liberty again. The Libetry was much nicer in all creature comforts.
lastmiles 1 year ago

The 2 door ones would be alrite around town cause they are mini and with the top on don't look to odd.
koryan 1 year ago
why would it be embarrasing?
dhs012 1 year ago
cause it is not a common car in Aus. The P plates will draw attention to it and seeing these around the city is just weird where people usualy drive small cars.
