It was meant as Court music dedicated to princess who died young, before marriage, before leaving her family's Court. And yeah, a pavane is a dance: a slow and very formal dance with lots of rules and defined movement.
The piece evokes the dignified elegance of a reception at the royal Spanish court as a young princess moves gracefully through the steps of the pavane, a slow processional dance that enjoyed great popularity in the courts of Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Art is open to ALL types of interpretation, it is not sporting to mock someone else's - even if you do disagree.
Very nicely done! Has all of the glory, beauty, and mastery Ravel intended for this orchestral version of his original solo piano composition. I can even imagine any regal Princess using this piece as her entrance music! Bravo!

Pra mí, es uno de los temas más bellos de Ravel, por muy triste que sea.
Un saludo,
Elsa.
