this is such a strong story beat in this episode. His hero since he was a kid turns out to be the great villain. It doesn't have to be a family tie for the sense of betrayal to run deep. Falcon looked up to Valgas more than he did his parents or anyone in his life. I don't think I've ever seen the hero of a story in an emotional dilemma like that before.
