  • LOL.. So why didnt he race the Jetta 5 1.6 (74kW) against the Corolla 1.6 (97kW) ? . . . After 10 years off hard driving the Corolla will still kick the Vw's ass, if the Vw still even works... After having both brands in the family, Toyota kills Vw anyday when it comes to low maintenance, power & peace off mind....

  • ok

    I look at this

In order to know Toyota ...........

Toyota Land Cruser Vs Volkswagen Tuareg Off Road

  • To fuwokao.

The truth about the seats is clearly visible in the video. I did exactly the opposite of what you state. I used the 40% side on the Corolla and the 60% side on the Jetta. Second, there is no trick. Those were two cars we had inventory with no modifications what so ever. The Corolla was a local trade and the fenders had the original vin number on them only found on the orginal parts when the car was built. You are simply and completely wrong.

  • for the seat part. Again, you did a trick by shaking the large portion of the rear seat which will definitely be more flex, while for the jetta, you were simply shaking the smaller portion and by the laws of physics, it's so trivial why the large, longer seat back shakes more than that of the shorter one.

Both are pretty much shitty cars, but you praise one while deriding another simply amazed me.

  • What a liar. You definitely lied about at least two parts in the vid:

One being the fender, nowadays, car sheet metal comes in almost identical and the thinner the metals are, the more expensive it is to produce, which requires more rolling&heating. There's no way toyota would use thinner sheet metal for cost saving and expected some 49 y old guy to deride its fender. Most likely, you were trying hard to bend at toyota, while for Jetta, you pretended to push hard.

  • a toyota would smile for miles n miles, cheaper car too buy & maintain, lol what maintanence do a toyota need??.. nothing...she starts first time everytime & lives on forever & ever amen! japanese built quality & reliabilty!

  • toyota sucks/ japanesse cars sucks!

  • YOU SUCK! TOYOTA RULEZ

  • Wow! This is the most stupid car test I've ever seen. I like VW and Audi, but this is the crap video.

  • excellent comparison!

Never liked the Corolla. Pile of craps!

  • vdubs r bad ass!!! I have an 2006 Jetta 2.0 Turbo and i love driving that car, I never want to get out of it, I feel really safe too!!!!!!!!

  • ok your vw may be nice and all that but 15 years later that corrolla will still start up wile that vw jetta will be sitting in a grage to get some crap fixed

  • Well, and how would you treat a nation, that dropped TWO atomic bombs on your country?

  • you keep looking problems and poor quality on other cars but it is a volkswagen and 160 000 miles and full front axle and the time of my jetta were in the maintenance

and that is just so poor marketing tricks everybody knows them just dont make any other car bad make your one good

  • i bet this guy was stunned when the 2011 jetta came out and vw went to crappy quallity!!

  • LoL, you say that 'is that a real test?'... it is just a cabal of vw.

  • VW - DAS AUTO!

    ALEX_23

  • Oh, so that is how you know a good car from a bad car. By grabbing sheet metal on a fender and trying to bend it. Ok. I see. I thought little bit more involved. But that is just me.

  • @Alexyzyan

  • The toyota maybe built weak, but the beauty & quality is under the hood.. Toyota engines of the same range are Way more powerfull & reliable than Volkswagen

  • toyota 2zz engine is the best durability reliable

  • wow! I cant believ! But it's really!

  • Oh yeah, and in retrospect, this video is even more funny now that VW has decontented the 2011 Jetta to the point that all those "advantages" it had over the Corolla are long gone..including those trunk hinges.

  • I live in Chico..weird...

And you're right, there is a difference in attitude between Toyota and VW: Toyota doesn't build utter junk that falls apart the moment you drive it off the lot. VW couldn't build a reliable car if their life depended on it.

And I say this as a Toyota fan who finds the 10th gen Corolla like the one here to be one of the worst cars Toyota has ever built, but it still spanks any piece of scrap VW spits out, no question.

  • hahah thats a corolla, the door seal suck..my 07 corolla start to fall apart from my daily driving

  • @Comaets. I dislike the change in the trunk hinges myself. My personal favorite in the 2011 Jetta lineup is the TDI. This car has come down in price about $2,000 with a higher level of equipment and 2.6 inches more rear leg room. I believe the changes to the positive out weigh the minor changes I don't like.

  • to Shaman007: Base price for a 2011 Corolla is $15,600. Base price for a 2011 Jetta S is $15,995. Check the battery in your Calculator.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, but Volkswagen 2011 now is the same shit as Corolla. Did you see the hudraulic double hinges on Jetta 2011?

  • oblom lubiteliam Toyoty

  • oblom lubiteliam Toyoty

  • VW is twice more expensive. Thank you K.O. for review.

  • That's what we create in europe :)

  • @gabin1colas It's a german car. The only thing your country creates is bad debt.

  • @gabin1colas

It was actually created in Mexico, so you fail.

  • @robocock21 LOL ? are u retard? I say about Volkswagen, from Germany. You fail bitch! :))

  • @gabin1colas

Learn how to use proper grammar you fucking faggot that possesses no automotive knowledge. And that makes 2 fails for the record. Queer.

  • @robocock21 ok dnd

  • According to the NHSTA when all else is equals a heavier car will also be a safer car.

  • This explains the reasons why even though the 2003-11 Toyota Corolla is only an inch smaller at 178.3 inches compared to the 2005-10 Volkswagen Jetta at 179.3 inches in overall length which is negligible that they were almost identical size in the compact car class, but the grade type of thicker steel and std 5 cylinder engine and the VW Jetta's 3,300 pd curb weight made this car on the average about 500 pds heavier compared to the Toyota Corolla's 2,800 pd curb weight and std 4 cylinder engine.

  • As the result of that 500 pd weight difference between these two similarly designed and sized cars, the 2003-11 Toyota Corolla 4 Door Sedan with only an available four cylinder engine has a significantly better gas mileage compared to the 2005-10 Volkswagen Jetta 4 Door Sedan with only an available five cylinder engine. The GLi version of the 2005-10 Volkswagen Jetta 4 Door Sedan may have a four cylinder option, but the gas mileage would only be slightly better than the regular Jetta not the Cor

  • There is no frame either, the car is a unibody design.

  • When the Corolla comes with a true safety cage I will agree.

  • This guy in da vid made my day.

You can never judge a car's crashing performance by pushing it's exterior sheet metal, it's pointless. The frame of the car is where it matters.

I was a race car driver, on race cars, the sheet was as thin as a paper to save weight, it was the anti-roll cage that helped during a crash, same as road cars where main frame does the job, NOT front fender metal!! period.

  • Yes, we are a Volkswagen Dealer. Chico Volkswagen 902 Main St, Chico, Ca 95928

    530-891-6275

  • look at background on 4-20 - 4-25: He is VW saller!

  • I agree that the VW is more expensive but I believe that many people will find great value in how VW chose to spend this additional investment. I currently have 4 VW's in my family that have over 150,000 miles that are daily drivers including my 2001 GTI that I use to pull my 13.5 foot Boston Whaler to a lake at over 4,000 foot elevation. The solid chasis and great overall performance make for a tremendous value that I personally believe makes it the better buy.

  • well, VW is much more expensive.

  • It would be interesting to see such a video but only US Car vs Deutschland Car

  • @RuWow what would you expect to see? American cars are pretty well built I would say...depending on class of course.

  • To Nazar2007paris: Volkswagen builds an affordable alternative to Mercedes, BMW etc. I have managed a Mercedes Benz Dealership, BMW and now Volkswagen and I am proud to represent the VW brand!

  • That's why i drive a Mercedes.... :)

    Mercedes , Bentley , BMW...best cars

  • I agree with the video, VW has superior finish, but tell us about the 1980's origin of the 2.5L engine, that is just the old 2.0 with an extra cylinder. At least toyota is consistent with its crappiness, VW goes up and down. People buy toyotas because with you do cheap basic maintenance they will go forever, how many 96 golf or jettas you see around these days? At one point the cost of the parts to keep em running, outpriced the whole car. Toyotas and Civics dont have engine or trans problems.

  • Nice video! But please next time you shoot a video, ask the camera man to stop chewing gum!

  • Toyota is the best!!!

  • Today i visited Toyota-Center here, and checked these design flaws. Russia sold Corollas are the same.

    [X] Thin metal on: Corolla.

[X] Bad door seals: Corolla, Prius, Avensis and Camry in some degree.

[X] Trunk arms: all the same on Corolla, Avensis, Camry

    Also:

[X] You cannot open trunk door if your car is out of battery on Prius and Avensis.

[–] Floppy back seats on Corolla: no.

  • well, seven years ago my friend and i both bought watches at about the same time. i bought a Timex for $25 and he bought Movado for $300. two years later his watch got stolen, and i just changed a battery in mine watch, and it still 'ticking'. so, it all depends, i guess.

  • Ok, I will make a video answer to you, but after 26th of june, waiting for my new video camera.

  • 4. About trunk - quite reliable two fastenings of which suffices for hold it. Of course, on jetta have the strengthened fastenings.

On my mind: tester have corolla after crashing restored with chinese parts (maybe - plastic) or this is very dirty advertising.

I have only one question: it's really that usa-made toyotas can be so bad? Because japan-made is awesome.

  • @BRealTube What we showed is real you can say what you want but I show the facts and the video does not lie. We compared a 2006 Jetta to a 2009 Corolla, No tricky.

  • @BRealTube I used 1 fingerpressing against the metal above the center of the wheel well. The metal buckles plain as day. I prove this in the video. Then I used the 40% side of the back seat, not even the 60% side which flops even more. I clearly show this in the video. I tried it, was shocked by it so I filmed it. This is not an opinion it is fact backed by video proof.

  • @BRealTube @BRealTube: The Corolla we tested was purchased new at the Toyota Dealer in Oroville California. This vehicle was a 1 owner vehicle and the owner that traded this car in stated the vehicle was never in a accident. When we took ownership we also ran a carfax history report which showed no accident history. The body parts in question all had the orginal labeling containing the VIN#. I have had many Corolla's here as trades on cars we have sold. They have all been the same.

  • @BRealTube VAZ Kalina - its the best))

  • Today we tried all this tricks on my mate's corolla, but japan-made for north-american market:

    1. About metal - absolute bullshit! I tried to push by two hands - effect is less than on a jetta;

    2. About rubber - it isn't pasted, but reliably inserted into special grooves. When you close the door - you hear NO sound, very pleasant sensation;

    3. About back seat - bullshit again! We discover tiny unsteady moving, not more than 1-2 cm;

  • Lets try to compare specs and models of corolla'09 vs jetta'09 (I have used carsdirect-at-com).

According to crasdirect corolla is available in 5 models, jetta in 10. Least expensive of corolla (Base) costs $15350, jetta (S) - $17515. More than $2000 in favor of toyota. Well, most expensive of corolla (XRS) costs $18860, jetta (2.0T Sel) - $26068 (!!!). Wow.. Quite painful. So, what is the model of jetta which is compared vs corolla in this test? Is it 15K vs 17K, or 18K vs 26K or 15K vs 26K??

  • Comment removed

  • But, lets try to compare equally priced corolla vs jetta, i.e. corolla XLE vs jetta S:

    1) Fuel economy:

city: corolla 27.0 mpg, jetta 21.0 mpg.

highway: corolla 35.0 mpg, jetta 30.0 mpg.

Ooops, may be that's result of body material differences demonstrated by the test.

  • Hmm, and what about safety?

    Frontal impact:

corolla: 4 stars for driver and passanger, exact numbers of injury criterions are 390 and 280.

jetta: 4 stars for driver and passanger, exact numbers of injury criterions are 544 and 525.

Well, despite both having 4-star ratings I would like corolla best.

  • Side impact:

corolla: front occupant 5 stars, rear occupant 4 stars, exact numbers of trauma index are 35 and 68.

jetta: front occupant 5 stars, rear occupant 5 stars, exact numbers of trauma index are 44 and 47.

Jetta is good in protecting rear occupant, but front occupant will recieve more injury than in corolla case.

  • Of course it is not complete comparsion, but it wasn't more unfair than the author of this video.

There is no doubt that toyota's golden age is nineties of XX century, but they are still not so bad as it showed in the test.

p.s. unfortunately compare tool on carsdirect-at-com does not works well and give me no chance in selecting jetta for compare (gets me specs for beetle 2drs, sick), so I have to compare 'by hands'.

  • @guitar0deals

Are you serious?! The different models of Jetta and Corolla only change equipment...not the way the vehicle is put together.

  • quite questionable test..

  • Different classes, Corolla - "C" and Jetta - "D".

And main reason is: this Corolla was made in USA, on american plant.

  • @BRealTube

Corolla and Jetta are in the same class. VW Passt - "D"

  • Comment removed

  • @BRealTube

jetta is D, r u sure? pasat is D but not jetta

  • @writetoph1lm I'm sure that passat is poor "E"-class... :)

  • Yeah, I had Toyota Auris and now I have Audi A3. I confirm each word of this comparison. Toyo is shity box that's not worth its price!

  • Totally amazing!. What a difference between the integrity of the Volkswagen vs the Toyota!
