This song is not about partitions. It relates to reality in Punjab where thousands of young men were killed in fake encounters by Punjab police. There are villages where not a single young man was left, all women, kids and older generation. Due to fear of life, young were forced to leave their homes, move to Canada, UK and US. Young sikhs of Punjab were being beaten and killed everyday by police after that for years and their women were raped. This thing went on till mid 90s and more than 10000 people were tortured by police wrongfully. This film depicted the difficulties of post 84 era for sikhs in punjab.

I did not watch this movie. But as long as the effects of song are, they cause a stir in body and mind making a person "nostalgic'. Especially when a person away from that very atmosphere and situation. It is beautiful song with nice drum beats and lyrics. A very romantic one. Excellent poetry.
