Borderlands Gameplay (1920x1200) Dell XPS M1710

My 256 HD4200 plays this game horribly on low with crappy resolution! Help?

Some dells will letcha, some wont. If it doesn't, you can just flash a new bios using vflash, and have the new clock settings in the ROM; that's what I did.

@warlockboyburns no idea couldnt do it on the stock bios dell wont allow it the option is there just you cant select it maybe new bios

@warlockboyburns It maybe possible to overclock inside windows with a program called Clockgen. I use it on winxp, so dunno about vista/7

@GBpimp23432 I think this laptop is great for portable gaming, and odds and sods (emails / coding etc) worth hanging on to! I just got another one, cheap these days. Anything I cant play gets done on the desktop!

@ClanTVRenegade yeh true i just built a new desktop which will be able to run any game i throw at it but this is still good as a portable gaming system

Cos i got one, and i bought borderlands,

and i wanted to ask you on what options you were

(Graphically speaking, resolution and all that).

It kind of lag on mine, so i was asking myself if you add have added any updates,

or programme like game booster??

i noe this is old now so i could get it pretty cheap? Is there any lagging....and does it handle games like cod and bioshock well? Would you need to upgrade the graphics card? Thanks

@PS3gamerPRO1997 its not bad lags sometimes on cod and havnt tried bioshock so couldnt say if i was you i would get something a bit newer i struglle to run any games newer than 2008 on this :/

@TheCompleXz I have the m1710 and runs borderlands no problem, the 7900 gtx was a impressive card in it's day and holds its ground decently with modern games, you can easily over clock the card and squeeze every little drop out of it, though the 7900 gtx has heat issues running normal clock rates so it's wise to apply new thermal paste before you begin ocing the laptop, I use riva tuner and clock it 50~100 over

k... i just downloaded this onto my laptop and whenever i click it up it says you need shader 3.0 to play this game is there any way to fix this?

@nansarama it should i am getting the game soon so i will try it out. It can play most new games on med-high settings so should be good :)

@nansarama it does run sc 2, just make sure you but a m1710 with the 7900 gtx, the 7900 gs are no better then the inspiron 9400 or e1705, they all have about the same specs, they all use the same cards low end. though the 7900 gs can handle sc on all lowest settings, you can pick up and inspiron e1705 or 9400 pretty cheap nowadays, 200~400 dollars will get you a decent casual gamer and they all have 17" displays!
