  • How come you don't use the machine to tighten the knot. I usually reset the tension to about 40lbs and tighten instead of doing this arcing motion.

  • @Protonex Two reasons. The first is that using the machine takes away the opportunity to pull up slack behind the knot. The arcing motion takes up the slack behind the knot as you tighten it. Second, and most important, tightening with the machine is terrible for the racquet. You're taking a piece of nylon and stretching it across the frame at one of it's weakest points, typically. It's a huge no-no amongst professional stringers. Only amateurs tighten their knots with their machines.

  • @YULitle Wow, I did not know that. I'll do this from now on.

  • Instead of using one long string, why not string a rqcquet using 10 strings. Then only 10% of the racquet will be bad if a string breaks and restringing can be completed in 10% of the time since you will only restring the broken seciton.

  • great tech, i didnt know you could tighten it that way, i usually just pull the string with a higher tension right before the knot in order to compensate for the knot tension loss

  • I've been doing everything this video says to do, but I seem to be losing a LOT of tension on my tie offs. I pull out as far as it will go, rock back with a high arch, and go until it can go no more. I unclamp and pluck last main and the second to last main, and the second to last one is quite higher. Any advice? I think it may be the way the string goes back through the grommet, in which case I don't know how I should alter the knot.

  • @technogeek4576 Take a look at my FAQ videos. One of them explains why "tension loss" on outer mains is inevitable.

  • would this also be done on the other end of the mains?

  • What do you do when your mount hangs over the tie off hole...I have a 5 point mounting stringer and the mounts at the throat go over the mains tie off holes and it hinders the pull out rock back motion...

  • I noticed your profile says your a Master Racquet Technician. Which knot is the best knot to use on a racquet in your opinion?

  • obviously the knots he's using

  • if you actually watch his other videos...he shows different knots you can do never really saying which is best. good job paying attention though

  • different knots for different strings and rackets, both for performance and aesthetics

  • Hi YULitle,

First I want to say thanks for all your great videos. It helped me a lot.

But I have a question: Do you have any videos about stringing badminton rackets?

If yes, could you upload one :D??

Im sure, they would help me a lot like the tennis videos.

    Greetings, Edgar

  • Hey Yule, you said you were going to make a video on calibrating last year, when are we gonna get to see it? :)

  • I haven't even been making videos for a year! :D I might have one coming. Need to find time.

  • Which string are you using in the video?

  • Gosen Sheep Micro 17ga.

  • Actually, looking at it again, I think it's Babolat Fine Play.

  • yo yulitle r u one person. Cuz ur voice is different everytime... lol

  • Gotta say it again. You rock. I started doing the (Pro knot)a little while ago because it seem a bit easy on my arm but i kept loosing a bit of tension on my tie offs. Now i know I wasn't arching but just pulling it back.

  • That method is as old as stringing racquets. No one does that professionally anymore.

  • interesting...i tension it stick an awl thru the grommet release the tension then tie the knot. been doing that since i started. any comments on my method???
