The other side of Israel is that she does not respect agreements. For example, Camp David Accords (1979) calls for freezing of settlements and withdrawal of Iseael according to U.N 242. Abu Mazen is a man of reason and diplomacy. I sincerely believe that had Abbas been President after Oslo and before the Second Intifada, things would have been very different. The militias would have been disbanded, weapons collected, and there would be no anarchy on the streets. Peace with Israel would have been assured as there wouldn't have been any militant groups or 2nd Intifada to destroy peace. He has the right ideas. Unfortunately, circumstances have not been favourable to him.

He still distributes widespread incitement against Israel through media, mosques and textbooks, he calls Palestinian terrorists ''strugglers'' and heroes fighting for freedom. He is just like arafat. He opposes Palestinian terrorism when it ''harms Palestinian interests.'' He says it's not ''the right time.''

Have you read the Hamas charter. It calls for the elimination of Israel through violent jihad. Hamas terrorists still say they reject peace with Israel and say they won't revise their charter. Hamas is causing anarchy. The US and Israel favor Abbas more cause they believe he will make peace with Israel. I don't believe he would. abbas rejects Israel's right to exist while pretending to recognize Israel.

Israel dod make concessions to the Palestinians. When the UN partitioned Palestine, the jews accepted while the Arabs rejected it. Under Oslo, Arafat got most Palestinian cities under his jurisdiction. Thanks to Oslo, 98% of the Palestinian people were no longer under Israeli rule. Israel gave up Gaza. why did they give the Sinai to Egypt if they want to expand? Israel offered to give the palestinians most of what they claimed they want? Arafat rejected it.
