  • @daivondays Actually, Kain was only asleep for 200 years after losing to the Sarafan Lord. I believe he was already 2 centuries old when he fought him(Sarafan Lord)and lost.

  • God damn it this series needs an ending! Put it in a book or graphic novel for all I care but end it!

  • "They know I'm up here...beyond their reach..."

And then the camera pans down to reveal the way in you just carved.

One of gaming's best "OH SHIT" moments if ever there was one.

  • Raziel is soooo cute.

  • How does janos knows raziel?

  • @superb150 Because he's the Jesus of LoK?

  • @Sinnikkyys LOL ok :D

  • best music. best voice acting. best atmosphere. best game. i freaking love this series I WANNA SIIIINGGGG

  • If Raziel is beyond death what is the reason for Janos' displacing him?

  • @Goetterdaemmerung7 he missed that fact

  • The Heart of Darkness

Reputed to have been ripped from the chest of the greatest vampire to have ever existed, Janos Audron, the Heart of Darkness restores vampiric unlife. Life is precious, Janos discovered - as it was torn throbbing and bleeding from his own body.

  • @Niamee1 Kain's first words as a Vampire :D

  • raziel meets janus thousands of years ago, form the day he was tossed into the abbyss...and 500 hundreads ago from the history in LoK defiance

  • @yurikatos In SR1 intro, Raziel describes the setting by saying 'I stood with Kain at the dawn of the empire. I have served him a millennium." A millennium is 1000 years - so SR1 is 1000 years out from BO1, and Raziel meets Janos 500 years prior - so it's actually 1500 years between when Raziel meets Janos and when Raziel is tossed into the Abyss, as close as we can approximate.

  • @Joudas again ??? well, if you sum all the years that raziel lived as a vampire, you're right, but chronologically I'm right..raziel meets Janos, as the demon, in the times when he was a sarafan warrior, so this happens 500 years ago of LoK Defiance...and it's not 1000 years out from BO1, beacause nothing says that Kain revived raziel and his brethren right before blood omen 1, but hey, here is a paradox, raziel provided his own corpse to Kain XD Killing his former self

  • I suppose the real question is how long after BO1 Kain's empire "dawned", because Raziel specifically states he was around at the "dawn of the empire", but generally speaking, I can't imagine it was hundreds of years later - Kain isn't the type to decide to do something then ditz around for hundreds of years before doing so. :) Really, there's no way to know exactly how long it's been; we're arguing semantics. :)

  • @Joudas yeah you're right =) .... what else I can say, we're fans XD...well at least I do XD

  • @Joudas "He was around 30 in Blood Omen and 430 in Blood Omen 2. Sarafan Raziel was killed around 500 years before the events of Blood Omen, then entombed for around 1000 years before he was resurrected as a vampire by Kain (making Kain approximately 530 years old at the time)." - DARK CHRONICLE: A Legacy of Kain Fan Archive

  • @Joudas your fogetting that kain had slept 200 years, so its really 1000 years after Bo2

  • @Joudas 1900 years if you count the 400 years kain was asleep before blood omen 2 lol

  • @Joudas How does janos know who Raziel is if he has never met him before....I thought it was like this

SR2: Met Raz and Janos is killed

Defiance revived and posessed by the Hylden Lord

BO 2 Used by the Hylden lord to bring about his ultimate triumph and the ascendency of his race and thrown into the collapsing Hylden gate

  • Wish they would come out with more of these games. Great games.

  • Me and my friend think Janos sounds like Dracula

  • Why is there always an extra guardian that no one talks about until the very last second?

  • @AebelAlmighty Well, he had been dead for 500 years when the others were being introduced, and he's not a pillar guardian (of which there are 9, and were originally said to be 9).

  • @AebelAlmighty His title was more then likely honourary, since his role was not to serve but to await the arrival of the Savior of the Vampires and present him with the blade. With that in mind as the new human guardians claimed the pillars; the title of Reaver Guardian most definitely faded into myth and then forgotten completely like the true origin of the vampires. by the time of the Sarafan as Janos mentioned he is considered no more then a 'devil' and thousands of years have past

  • these uploads, its totally like a graphic novel 'books on tape'. im gonna put together a playlist from SR and just listen to this while i game. awesome.

  • SO WHY THE FUCK DOES JANOS SOUND LIKE A SCOTSMAN!!!

  • @ParadoxOfChaos Because he is voiced by Rene Auberjonois, whose nativity is part French and part Swiss. He sounds rather Swiss than Scot.

  • if square enix can revive this series while retaining the original concept that made this series great then we can be looking at one the greatest video games narratives of all time amy hennig is such a great writer you can tell anne rice was apart of her inspiration for soul reaver im just worried that if they do revive the game, can they find some one who can continue to can maintain the narrative game and follow amys formula.

  • raziel welcome to your destiny

    !!

  • I like how raziel shows his emotions through his eye's seeing as his mouth is gone and dissolved when kain had him thrown into the abyss.

  • One thing I don't understand is why Janos distances Raziel from the fight in this situation. The Sarafan are incredibly strong, but they aren't armed to destroy Raziel at this point - no matter how many times they defeat him, he'll only return to the spirit world to rejuvenate and come back to fight them again. They have no means to destroy his soul or anything like that. Raziel could have defended Janos.

  • @Jishaku it might be becouse Janos dint know that (like hi dint know that raziel whas going to be trapped in the reaver)

  • Janos : aah thy know im up here beyond there reach (camera moves down showing big hole which leads to room with all bridges activated ^^)

  • Is it weird to be attracted to the oldest vampire, Janos? <3

  • jonas is Raziel father. that way he knows raziel name..

  • umm isn't kain the maker of raziel? wouldnt janos be (actually) raziel's grandfather?

[ spoiler alert: remember kain took all the 5 dead sarafan priests (all killed by raziel ) after 1 millenium and gave them the vampiric life (oh yeah, remember raziel also killed his sarafan self ..... time traveling rules xD) ] i love this story :D

  • how did janos know raziel?

  • i dont get how janos recognised raziel.

  • @monkeyskitz raziel is like a prophet to him. raziel is the spirit of the reaver, and the answer to the pillar's plight. That's why janos saved him, he knows how important raziel's destiny is.

  • @Zentro705 no i guessed that, but i mean, this is the first ever time that wraith raziel and janos have met, even with all the time jumping. so how does janos recognise raziel? he acts like raziel and he knew each other for years, but this is the first time they have ever met? it makes no sense?

  • @monkeyskitz It's because Janos was the last true vampire and his people had a prophecy that told them hoe Raziel would one day come before him.

Or a simpler explanation is that the elder God told him, remember the vampires all worshiped that god even after he abandoned them when they became immortal

  • if this is the first time Raziel meets Janos, how does Janos know who he is?

  • but why did raziel and janos have wings?:-/

  • @Kshymine The ancient vampires did have wings naturally while Raziels wings was a mutation bestowed upon him by the the vampiric curse.

The reason why Raziel got wings (since no other vampires in LOK have any) could be because of some kind of connection to the ancient vampires and their prophecy.

  • @Grottman96 aah..i see:D

  • when i was young i loved this game but i didnt have chance finish it because m yparents didnt let me to play it and took it away

  • pls guys check my vid.. i love this series so much. let the legacy continue ;) and question: HOW DID RESURRECTING JANOS MEANT TO BRING BACK TO THE UNSPOKEN THE HYLDEN?? I MEAN HOW DID THEY POSSESED THE BLACK HEART AND JANOS??

  • @onlychamoNCC Because the Hylden that possessed Janos in defiance was the Sarafan Lord from Blood Omen 2, and they needed the blood of "their enemy" (Janos) to help create a portal to the Hylden realm.

  • Janos Audron sounds like a Hungarian name.

  • yeah..i got mine for eight dollars, used, but still worked like a charm

  • dude that sucks

  • Janos looks a little like a gay vampire in soul reaver 2. In Defiance he looks muuuuch better than this =/

  • I don't know... of course Defiance has better graphics, but he looks kind of plain... too human.

  • @Ravnen2dn

As long as he doesn't look anything like...Twilight *shudders*

  • @SolidMike84 OHOHO.. Good choise of words =D Indeed.. As long as he doenst look like one of them its allright.

  • @Ravnen2dn

    Blood Omen: Kain & Vorador

    Castlevania & Hellsing: Dracula/Alucard

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: Alucard

    Darkstalkers: Demitri Maximoff

    Guilty Gear: Slayer

    BloodRayne: Rayne

    Suikoden: Neclord

    Metal Gear Solid 2: Vamp

    PWNS Twilight

  • @Ravnen2dn

    And Janos

  • @Ravnen2dn Edward Cullen with wings?

  • @Ravnen2dn

    SR2-Janos has better wings; Defiance-Janos looks like chicken;

but your 'gay-oriented' criteria manifest much more your stupidity than your aesthetic preferences.

  • @incognito509b well he looks like someone who could come right out of true blood or twilight.... enough is said..

  • @Ravnen2dn

I do not know those titles, but I see that they are posterior productions to SR2; and I do not think that right aproach to easthetical judgment is comparing earlier to latest productions: becouse latest could be trash-copy of earlier; and your trash-association about SR2-Janos is determinated by somthing posterior and derivative to SR2. Thats my opinion.

  • @incognito509b Sure.. everyone got their opinions. Mine was that he looks gay (Even for PS2 graphics). Yours is that you should not judge from old games and their later versions.

  • something no one ever questioned before: How come Janos knows Raziel's name? The hero who was fore told: OK but he never was named in any of the prophecy so how come Janos knows his name?

  • i love the blade of fire!!

  • I love it when Raziel says: "I don't like that word, smells of martyrdom" and how in the end he actually sacrifices himself.

  • i wonder. why didn't janos simply fly away. i saw a balcony and he has wings. wings. for flying.

  • Raziel has Moebius' scepter - which incapacitates vampires.

  • ok so moebius cant use superpowers. ok. so classic vampire powers. wings count? they're like arms or legs. maybe just a minor plot hole for story purposes?

  • It doesn't just disable their powers - it incapacitates them. We saw this when Moebius used it on Kain in Defiance; he couldn't even stand up, which I'm pretty sure requires a much more rudimentary grasp of basic motor skills than flying does.

  • @Joudas Arguably we don't see the scepter enter the room and merely assume it's there soon after the assault because in the next scene we see Janos being restrained with it. But this also somehow took long enough for Raziel to complete his task and return... it does somewhat look like Janos didn't bother trying, but from my notice there doesn't seem to be anywhere for him to fly to, and it is not as though we can assume he can just meander about in the air, exposed, where arrows can be shot.

  • @ZanasoYBayncuh

It's arguable, but it is there. First off you only see the Sarafan for 1 second but I was able to spot who held the staff. He was on the left in the back. And, as another user pointed out, if Janos wasn't restrained from the power of Moebius' staff he could have flown out from the balcony.

As to the time it took. They were purposefully torturing Janos and this is confirmed by human Raziel when wraith Raziel confronts him.

  • @Joudas One question still remains unanswered; why does the staff affect the Reaver but not Raziel himself? if the wraith blade is in fact Raziel's own soul and it is cancelled out by the orb; surely Raziel would feel the same effect

  • @PhoenixHelix I think it would have to do with the fact that Raziel is already as so it doesn't effect him, just like when The heart of darkness is torn from Kain, but the reaver is effected because it had reabsorbed the Older version of himself that had been reunited with the reaver many years before. But as always this is mear speculation, im pretty much grasping at straws

  • @AMVTides Already dead*

  • @PhoenixHelix I looked it up and it said this, "He said the blade was infused "with vampiric energy, empowering the Reaver to drain [the Vampires'] enemies of their precious lifeblood". This seemed to explain why Moebius' staff disabled the wraith-blade. The Reaver was a vampiric weapon, and therefore vulnerable to the staff's magic." But it does not affect Raziel because after the abyss he was no longer vampire Like Kain

  • @AMVTides yes. Vampiric Energy yes, but the Soul Reaver; the Wraith Blade itself is the soul of Raziel as a wraith so it shouldnt have been affected by the staff since Raziel was no longer a Vampire which the Staff affects. so why was the Wraith Blade cancelled out but not Raziel himself?

  • @PhoenixHelix my guess is raziels soul ie the wraith blade was separated from him when he "died" but it still held the vampiric energy from the blade hence its soul devouring appetite thats why the staff worked on it and not raziel i could be wrong but thats my rationalization =/

  • @sume555 You mean the Wraith Blade being Raziel's soul still retained the energy from the Physical Blade that enabled the draining of blood? that sounds like a reasonable explaination that makes sense though they'dve saved us all alot of trouble at Eidos and C.D if they'd've explained this factor along with many others they left us wondering

  • It's not their powers (or rather, not just their powers) that are hindered by the staff. The staff greatly weakens them when exposed to it.

  • kain couldnt stand up because he had the haert of darkness but when the heart was removed kain was able to resist the scepters power. janos couldnt move because the heart of darkness was in him but he died because that was janos's heart

  • @jakespnl463 Would it be right to say Kain lives in defiance after having the heart of darkness ripped out, due to his being raised with necromancy, I mean his vampires could only be killed by impaling/sunlight/water right ? and they only really died if they lost their souls.

  • The Sarafan probably used the Staff before he could.

  • @memberjacket theres a few reasons why he didnt fly off

1: he was stopping them from getting to the chamber he threw raziel into and harming him

2: the human turel had the staff that disables vampires ability to move, hence why raziel tells turel to "hold him" with the staff before he rips out his heart

3: if youve played defiance you would know that janos isnt exactly weak, he probably thought he could take them before they used the staff on him.

  • @memberjacket Maybe it's like from the cartoon Gargoyles- they can only glide on the air.

  • @memberjacket he said when was in raziel's arms, "I saved you", he stayed so the sarafan didn't search farther, finding raziel.

  • Could someone tell me something, please?

How could Janos recognize Raziel? When he said: Raziel? My child, what they have done to you? How does he know him? It bothers me I cant figure that out Please? Could someone inlight me?

  • I'm pretty sure they don't ever give any reason as to why Janos would recognize Raziel - I've always wondered this myself - but he is their prophesied hero, and in the fire forge, there's a statue with glowing eyes and wings that greatly resembles him. I suppose the ancient vampires had some insight as to who their Savior would be and what he would look like, that's just my guess.

  • Hm Thats make sense, I guess ;] Thanks :)

  • I wanted to buy it but the guy from the store took 5 months just to tell me that his provider couldn't find it and I went to all the stores I know in the town, none had it so I just downloaded, but could u plz tell me if u need to do any special thing to open the last bridge (the one with the moving crystal), to pour the blood on the cup and make a way to janos or just shoot with the light reaver

  • First 2 hits on Amazon: 22 copies of the PS2 version, 11 copies of the PC version. That took me about 20 seconds.

  • what do you mean?

  • I mean if you type in 'soul reaver 2' into a product search on Amazon, you'll find no less then 33 available in the first 2 hits only. The cheapest are priced under $5. I refuse to believe anyone's excuses about how they couldn't find a 'legit' copy when it takes literally 20 seconds of effort to find 33 of them.

I'm not some crazed anti-piracy advocate or anything, but I do believe in supporting quality games (by buying them). And the LoK series certainly falls into that category.

  • I completely understand u and I agree but there is a small inconvenient... I live in south america and had some bad experiences with the internet sellers over here so I don't really like buying from them and I have no international credit cards so I can't buy from abroad.

  • Sorry if I'm being annoyingly insistent but whats the solution to that bridge? do I have only to shoot with the light reaver or is there anything else I must do b4 that? the last one b4 getting to Janos, the answear to that question would tell me if its a demo or not (in case u have doubt of what brdge its the one with the crystal that is hanging and swinging around)

  • Assuming you mean the stairs directly up to the end, you fill one of the blood basins to 'create' them, as with most others. If you mean opening the barriers blocking that platform, I'd recommend consulting a walkthrough (AKA GameFAQs or similar) as that whole area is pretty complex. I'd call it a bug, not a demo, if it doesn't work - you're about 85% of the way through the game at that point, and no demo would include that much of it.

  • ok, thx

  • just shoot at the crystal when it is just in front of the other so that the blast will go trough both crystals

  • tried that, doesn't work, I'm getting convinced its demo D:

  • guys, perhaps u could answear me, how do I get there? when I shoot the moving crystal with the light reaver the brdge doesn't drop, have I downloaded a demo? please say that I just have to do something else cuz it took me 11 hours to get there and I just can't figure it out. thx.

  • Buy the game, don't download pirated copies. I doubt this is your problem, but your phrasing makes it rather obvious that that's what you did.

  • well, I tried to buy the game and the guy from the store took like 5 months just to tell me that his provider couldn't find the game. I tried other stores (there are only 3 or 4 in my city and I don't go to 1 cuz I had a fight with the owner) and none of them had it so I just downloaded from taringa

  • How did Janos know Raziel at this time? They never met before, did they?

  • because it was ordained by proficy so he knew it would be raziel coz only he could rach janos

  • the 10th guardian is the keeper of the blade

  • hey somthing.,.. bother me

jaose is the Tenth Guardian..but where ever happen to the other 9

    i never understand that

    somone reply

  • 8 of the 9 guardians were killed by Kain in Blood Omen 1. Kain is the 9th. There is no 10th.

  • but jaose sald he is is the Tenth Guardian???

  • He says he's the 10th guardian because he was called upon to guard the Reaver - he's not a guardian in the same sense that the pillar guardians are - that is to say, he isn't connected to them in the same way, and he isn't replaced in the same manner.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe they are in a different time line or was killed by Kain.

  • This scene surprised me. You hear about Janos Audron in BO 1 about how he was bloodthirsty and such, but then you see a soft spoken priestly blue angel, and my jaw dropped.

  • I like how, when janos mentions how he is beyond the humans' reach, the camera focuses on the giant hole raziel blew through the mountain

  • I think that Janos speaks about Raziel's thrown into the abyss when Janos tells him that he appears to be cruelly tested. But I think Janos didn't know about Raziel's human self who was about to kill him.

  • Nah, he's a lot more cool.

  • Such an enlightened creature, I love Janos Audron for his great wisdom and humility, how he even forgives the humans that have destroyed his entire race is remarkable. Im glad they included this character in the games.

  • Janos Was kick ass in the 3rd game He and Raziel were like best friends

  • Question...how did Janos know who Raziel was? I've beaten all the Legacy of Kain games including Defiance, so don't worry about spoilers. Even so, after beating them all, I can't identify how Janos know Raziel.

  • Perhaps through a prophecy?

  • Since the games don't cover the time in which Raziel served Kain, I would guess that Janos met Raziel after the death of his Sarafan self but before Kain ordered him cast into the Abyss. This is further supported by Janos' apparent shock at Raziel's new appearance.

  • Janos surely knew about Raziel but as we know from BO2, he is trapped in the demon dimension by the time of Kain's empire and his fate is unknown.

  • @shewolf51 It's not likely that Raziel was met by Janos at any other time not shown by the games. Instead, it seems Janos had some clues about Raziel's looks (and, apparently, name too) thanks to the prophecies. Though, the prophecies must have depicted him with reverence and resembling the angelic appereance of the Ancients. Raziel's wraith form must have been for Janos a twisted version of the Vampire Hero's appereance he expected.

  • my friend voiced a fear about Square Enix raising this series back from the grave: That, they would change Kain into a handsome bishounen and that Raziel would have awsome j-pop hair.

    Woe at the thought!!

  • @AomiArmster The thing of nightmares.

  • @AomiArmster May God forbid that...

  • kool

  • Hopefully Square Enix will raise the series from the grave...

  • this series is a timeless classic...never can get tired of its brilliance...

  • I wasn't expecting Janos Audron to be so nice, I was touched by the meeting.

  • Strangely enough. Janos Audrons face was based of Bela Lugosi who protrayed Dracula in the 1931 film

  • ...Janos Audron?

  • ...yes? Janos Audron. :)

  • yeah, what's up dude?

  • LOL

  • man i remember waking up when i was 6 just to play blood omen then when it was over my dad bought me sr1 then 2 then blood omen 2 then defience and when its all over i wasnt satisfied it makes me sad to see that they stoped making the dark prophocy

  • what piller was janos conflict balence ETC

  • Janos wasn't a guardian.

  • To be more exact, he isn't a pillar guardian. He was instead the guardian of the "key", the Reaver.

  • what i have trouble understanding is how the reaver is connected to the pillars of nosgoth and what makes it so pure that it resisted corruption even when the pillars themselves could be corrupted

  • This was supposed to be explained in Defiance but was cut out due to time constraints. The Reaver was actually the "Pillar of Vampirism", created after the curse of the Hylden. A final lock to keep out the Hylden even IF the Pillars were corrupted or destroyed since the banishment was also powered by the Vampires themselves. Vampires could continue to reproduce even with the curse of unbirth by turning others into Vampires through the power invested to them by the Reaver "Pillar".

  • so thats the connection between the vampires and pillars and why they themselves would fall to corruption with the pillars and nothing else would. still do u think if the reaver was destoyed it would not only free the hylden from the demon realm but undo the curse of vampirism?

  • Well, the Spirit Forge is connected as well. The Spirit Reaver purifies things through spirit energy. Perhaps once the Spirit Reaver had been forged, it was to be used on the Pillars themselves, to purify them and their corresponding guardians. However, this plan went askew, as Raziel was unable to reach the Pillars before they fell.

So perhaps a new way to secure the Binding would be needed: by creating a NEW Binding, with a new set of Pillars and Guardians.

  • makes since but wouldn't but at the same time now that kain posseses the spirit reaver and with moebius out of the way absorbed into the wheel of time kain should freely be ably to use the time streaming devices and go back to the time pillars were corrupted. he may not be able to prevent ariels murder but atleast he can stop the events that follow and return the pillars to riteful guardianship under the vampires. i mean it was cause of humans in a way that the hylden escaped.

  • Quite. Although the Elder didn't expect to be defeated by Kain, so it'd probably use some strange power to restore Moebius' consumed soul, but another unexpected effect would happen: Moebius refuses to serve, since his sight was purified by Spirit. This would probably result in Moebius becoming an unlikely ally to Kain.

Also, Kain's Empire is necessary to preserve history, and once Kain recovers the Binding ritual from the "prehistoric" past, he could summon a new set of Pillars in the future.

  • so basically your anything kain or doesnt do will alter history? jeez hard to say if nosgoth will ever be restored

  • Well, Nosgoth WOULD be restored, just not in it's older times. It'd be restored in the future, chronologically about after Soul Reaver.

Although Kain's nature as the Scion of Balance has probably granted him free will, like Raziel had, meaning his actions cannot be predicted, so history could be destined to go towards a "happier" ending.

  • ah i guess i was just focusing on the here and now i got so caught be being frustrated with an almost cliff hanger like ending im just sort of rushing answers here.

  • How does Janos apparently recognize Raziel? Isnt this the first time they've met?

  • I'm guessing that considering that Raziel can and has went through time, They probably met before. Raziel goes through a lot of time.

  • urrrrrrr Raziel is Jano's son or something

  • I do remember in one of the episodes (maybe Defiance) Janos is puzzled and sais "Have I misread the signs" so it seems he had visions or some insight of future events. Could explain how he knows Raziel's name.

  • I remember being very little (before I even heard of philosophy and whatnot) I absolutely fell in love with the persona of Raziel. He not only wanted to restore order but he wished for the most virtuous of balance even if it involved sacrificing himself! (if you played defiance you will see). I absolutely adore Raziel still. We don't get heroes like him anymore. Instead we get assholes like Kratos from God of War! Great game lots of fun but terrible character.. I still haven't forgotten Razzy ^^

  • lol they should remake it will have more succes on ps3 better graphics. imagine nozgoth in hd? or blue ray.

  • raziel's story in legacy of kain it is great, man. ;) Soul Reaver

  • One of the most epic heroes in video-game land.

  • Oh YeAh....

  • i hope they remake all the games on ps3

  • have you seen what happens what happens when you remake games

    mgs1 gr8 game remade=crappy twin snakes

great games dont need a remake they are awesome how they are and anybody that remakes classic games is a nimrod

  • I premise I really like this game, 'specially for the lovely intricated plot, but I have to say a thing: WHY THE HELL Janos didn't locked BOTH Raziel and himself in the fire chamber, which had that useful unique door that could be opened only by the fire reaver bearer? Rot out there trying to open it, you sarafan dogs!

  • will there ever be a soul reaver 3

  • defiance is sr3, we wait blood omen 3

  • oh that explaines alot

  • Defiance isn't Soul Reaver 3, in the Soul Reaver subseries you only played as Raziel, and in Blood Omen subseries you played as Kain. In Defiance you play as both Kain and Raziel. Although the next game should be Blood Omen 3, however that will probably never happen.

  • vampire guardians could never have gone mad as easily as nupraptor and others. and i think this was the weak part of the human guardians.

so i think human guardians though skilled, are far more vulnerable than vampires. the repercussions of ariel's murder could have never been so strong had other guardians been vampires.

  • in the series, it is mentioned numerous times that the human guardians were not competent to serve the pillars. but going by the likes of moebius, mortanius, ariel and nupraptor, they all seem potent and skilled. nupraptor was the master of telepathy, mortanius too was powerful, ariel was a skilled sorceress.

i believe humans were not competent to serve in the sense that they were vulnerable. how nupraptor (the mind guardian) himself lost control of his mind on seeing ariel's corpse.
