  • Spectacular !!! Way to go Laura. Any plans for a Wash DC concert in the future?

  • Ja wat wil je met Frits, Edwin en Rob, Ferdinand en Laura!

    Wat een swing. Top

  • a bunch of europeans playin jazz....shit it swingin but it aint rite man. somthings off

  • echt geweldig

  • perfect combination, the awesome and great singer, with a big band, great old song. What a swing. Congratulations Laanen

  • Miss Fygi really swings. Big band jazz will never die when it's played like this. Just wish the ending had been a bit more explosive...Jim, Columbus, OH

  • 素晴らしすぎます。

    みんなチョーうまい!!ベースソロ最高です。

    日本語ですみません。

  • Thank you CeliaKaytTyll !

Listen to the breaks, they are sharp and right on the beat...Laura is the babe no doubt! She has to be the most under appreciated vocalist on the planet which is sad because she has a real gift for giving these tunes new life.

I have 2 questions: Is the pianist reading the solos and is the sax player doing the same? And did the band ever play this tune in rehearsal? Love the bongo player BTW! He realizes the tune is on autopilot and is smoking!

  • The soloists are probably just reading the chord changes.

  • @FoxyFleets Yea, but they know how to swing..... Tell me, how can a band of this size play a tune like this right out of the box without some serious clams? hear the breaks?

Hear the CLEAN breaks with th bongos? These guys and gals are REALLY good......

Never heard a "cherman" band really swing, but this one does and in a very big way.

    Don't believe it?

Check out some other 'tube vids....

    99,999999 percent of them suck....

  • @loocee95 They are indeed very good, but I doubt that they are sightreading. Note sheets tend to draw musicians attention even though they might have played it and know it. One of the worlds most renowned arrangers, Vince Mendoza, performs frequently with german big bands, so that germans don't know how to swing can't really be true..

  • And I agree with loocee95, this band SMOKES!

  • Laura has the most INCREDIBLE voice and range. Love watching and listening to her.... and she's one classy lady, too. Love this, thanks for posting.

  • AMAZING!!!

I play that tune (piano) with a fairly famous big band and let me tell you something, this band smokes!!!!!!!!

They appear to be sight reading the tune, although it's a familiar one, and the piano and drums are great despite other comments. One of the best IMHO...

  • A German band that can really swing and groove. How refreshing!

  • There's a slight difference between German and Dutch, although "German" in Dutch is pronounced "Duits".

This band is Dutch. Still, German Big Bands can swing.

  • does anyone know who did this particular arrangement because its different than the original Nat King Cole arrangement.

  • At 1:44, the horns quote from the old 10 CC song "I'm Not In Love". Brilliant irony! I love it!

  • @mnelson56 I hadn't caught that even after listening to this over and over. You're right! That's so cool. Wiseguys.

  • good arrangement.

  • Looks like the band is sight reading this....nice job!

  • @AroundCerritos I got some emails from a couple of band members and YES they are sight reading this one.

I play a similar arrangement (Nestico) with a big band (piano) and this is not an easy arrangement to "fake".

As for Germans/Dutch not being able to swing....Stereotype.....

Now some of the Japanese stuff, I will agree.

Sounds like little machines to me.

Every note has a time and every time has a note.

This band however SMOKES....it really does...

  • great band !

  • Fygi rocks! Arrangement, band, drummer blows! in spite of an anemic piano solo. Kudos!

  • ENCORE! ENCORE! GREAT PERFORMANCE!

  • jezus wat een foute inleiding tot het nummer, gadver

  • Best wel erg ja. Gelukkig zorgt de band ervoor dat de nare smaak weer verdwijnt.

  • Very good indeed! Keeping it in my files under jazz.

  • She does it so well :D I love how its more up beat also ^^

  • Okay this may be a stupid question, but im a rookie. Who originaly sung this song?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was Nat King Cole who originally sang this song.

  • actually it is from the lerner and lowe musical called Brigadoon from the 50s

  • very lovely

  • Very cool. :)

  • Is that Fritz Landesnburgen (probably mispelled that) on the drums?

  • my jazz band plays this

  • If this is what the Netherlands is like, then I'm on my way from LA.

    I Cr 13;8a

  • I feel you on that one

I'm looking for tickets now lol

  • it was dutch, she said that it was a wonderfull evenening and she said in dutch that she was "almost like feeling in love", and then she started to sing the song

  • is she is laura fygi?

  • Yes

  • Que idioma hablo ella en la primera parta / What language was that at first?

  • Dutch
