  • I barely saw the difference between kick it and "AaaaaaaaaAaAaaAaAaaH." How is this one different? (honest question) Is it really worth calling a separate game? (also an honest question)

  • @youmakeitwhatitis What you're seeing here is the early prototype for 1... 2... 3... KICK IT! (Drop That Beat Like an Ugly Baby) based on the Aaaaa! engine. Ooo! is the same game as the one we're working on now, but was renamed.

  • @dejobaan So is the new game called Ooo! or is it called something else? That last sentence twisted my head in knots.

    I would love to see a radio playlist of indie songs, leader boards, unlockable content, and multiplayer.

    Hell, I would even buy it as a DLC if I had to, so please?

  • @MrShazDude Yeah! Check out the Kick It Facebook page (not the Dejobaan one) -- I stuck up some Vimeo vids of what we're working on now. Unfortunately, YouTube won't let me include a link to the Kick It Facebook page here. Why? I don't know!

  • Fuck you dejo, you're "wacky" (wow so random LOL!!) sense of comedy and unpolished game design that seems like a 14 year old made it for his game design club final makes you the shittiest developer that doesn't deserve any of the success you're getting or an arg spot.

  • Wait, so is this a modified version of AAAaaaAAA that Kick It! was created from? Or is this a new game altogether? Either way, still looks pretty rad.

  • @lyprov Well, that's kind of a mean thing to say. This was a quick prototype based on Aaaaa! that is slowly turning into Kick It. Something we wanted to show off almost a year ago. But you know what? Forget you, Sir! I'll listen to everyone else instead.

  • @lyprov I think that’s a bit harsh to say about an indie developer, but I do see some reasons in what you've said. I liked AaAaAA!!!, it was different and it felt like it had quite a bit of work in it, but now with Kick It! it just feels like they’ve taken the original, removed some stuff, added few and released it. I don't mean to be mean honestly, but in all seriousness, put each game in front of someone who had never seen them before, and they would find it hard to tell them apart.

  • @Qetyuioj Actually, I do feel kind of bad about that comment after I found out that Oooo is actually an early version of Kick It!.  I thought this was a third game when I said that, but the way Kick It is being developed, it's starting to turn into a new game entirely from Aaaaaa (despite the fact that they're still using a lot of the same resources), so it isn't as obnoxious as I initially thought.

  • Now this one is supposed to be "1... 2... 3... Kick it!" Released on steam (still work in progress) but pretty cool nonetheless.

  • How do you think the game will deal with songs that change their speed very quickly or just math rock in general? Will it go spazz like the songs?

  • @Hoanui0991 Right now, we're working on tying density to the density of beats, so my hope is that the level will seem more frenzied.

  • I've been playing the download today and it has been wicked fun to play and find new ways to rack up kisses and not splattering on a block, can't wait to see what the full version will be like ^_^

    We're experimenting with a bunch of things. Right now, a sweet algorithm generates the level -- we can tie this into everything from an MP3 to a photograph to random tappings of the "A" key or just have it generate on its own.

    I want to release this quickie test for free for the (also free!) fan club members.

  • tbh it looks too much of an expansion of Aaaa, than a new game.

    If it's going to look so similar, calling it a whole new game might not be the best choice

    Anyway

    Feature 1:

    involves using your mp3s to generate the levels

    Feature 2:

    Involves genetically engineering your worlds and making them grow like plants.

    But I'd like an option to not have it based on your music and randomly generate.
