The government DOES round random people up in Afghanistan. They pay warlords to do it for them by setting up bounties. The warlords can just turn in their political enemies or random goat herders. And to say that these "enemy combatants" are treated according to the Geneva convention is just a lie. They are TORTURED, waterboarding, sleep deprivation, psychological terror. And that's without even talking about extraordinary rendition, where we send them to other countries for electrical shock.

Countries like Egypt where the government will do whatever horrible things we want to these people we haven't even put on trial.

This "enemy combatant" label is bullshit. Liberty and justice for ALL. You don't know that they are even combatants, they could just as easily be people rounded up in a warzone. You conservatives claim to hate the government, but you think the military is perfect and never makes mistakes.

Even if you did know they were combatants, they're still human beings.

You can't just toss out human rights on a technicality. The fact that you argue for that and claim to believe in freedom and liberty is disgusting. Not only has the Supreme Court ruled against this bullshit, but Obama has abandoned the label.

Even if these are unlawful combatants, which is another legal category, they are STILL ENTITLED TO THE SAME RIGHTS AS A NON-COMBATANT CIVILIAN. Look it up - unlawful combatant! He has "the right to a fair and regular trial and to be treated with humanity!"
