  • The thing people don't get is, Brad was spun a lot further down the frontstretch. Atlanta is a track where you pick up a lot of speed on the straight aways. Just coming off a corner and getting airborne like this, a COT probably wouldn't have even got air. BUT, had this car been turned where Brad was, he probably would've flipped too. Also remember, cars flip based on what situation they're put in, so in summary, people just blamed the Wing for flips, when really theres no difference. Just IMO.

  • rooflaps resist the cars from gettin airborne not just stop. the key word is resist. becuase if you look at some vids you see cars still get airborne with it. it just depends on how youre cars spins out.

  • if you saw the michigan busch races last year, junior spun out edwards, and he spun around once, and when his left side faced forward, it "leaned" and the air rushed uner the car picking up the right side.

  • yeah I meant blowovers, bowyer got clipped in his right rear quarter panel directly, his car got sideways, the low air pressure in the left side tires forces the car to "lean" and the tires probably because of the bumps, got him over. And trust me, if they were coming 190 out of the turns at atlanta, he would've been in the stands, lol either that or there would be restrictor plates.

  • Well a major factor there is also that the weight of the cars on ovals is biased to the left a lot (a maximum of 1900 lbs, if I'm not mistaken).

  • Uhh, FallenAngels92, Clint Bowyer flipped across the finish line in the Daytona 500. And McMurray got airborne because Atlanta is nascar's fastest track, with Daytona and Talladega having restrictor plates.

  • huh, cool, cuz i remember busch tested at daytona during the preseason w/o a restrictor plate but i thought he was just pulling a rusty wallace.

  • If nascar doesnt use restrictor plates then the cars at daytona and talladega will be running close 225 mph. i dont think that the roof flaps will put a car down at those kinds of speeds. i agree with tylerhead24.
